  2. Slarty, I am well aware of the fact that, compared to "the rest of the world," I am insanely well-off. In a slightly lighter tone, I almost like being the center of attention around here!
  3. I'm not saying that I deserve a new computer, and I'm not complaining (too much). I realize that the show must go on and my old PowerBook won't last forever. I do have a job, and I am saving money. Likewise, I wouldn't buy on interest, I would save up to full price before buying. I guess my point is just that it sucks for some of us who aren't able to keep up with the rest of the world.

While I am sympathetic, look at the general standard of living in this country and what many people drop money on. Even a non-smartphone cell phone plan will probably cost at least $50 a month. Thus, in the 5+ years since a PPC user has bought a new computer, if she has a cell phone, she's likely spent over $3000 on that. And cell phones are ubiquitous these days. I'd also say that -- again, in the context of this economy -- "once every five years" is hardly "on a whim." Here's the catch: I'm a high-school student. My phone is payed for by my parents, and my computer is my dad's old work computer. Also, paying a small price for cell phones over a longer period of time is different, if not in the end then on a month-to-month basis. In order to pay a similar amount on a monthly basis from Apple, I'd end up paying for my computer multiple times thanks to interest (or at least, I expect that to be the case).

  6. Um... what's with the three adds embedded in your quote? It seems awfully fishy.
  7. Methinks that Slarty was talking about content not directly related to the characters, i.e. zones and dialogues accessible only though certain character choices/builds.
  8. If you get the CD from Jeff, you can put it on as many macs as you'd like. You can also email Jeff and get a new code for any new/additional machine on which you would like the game.
  9. If I remember correctly, Shima just talks about his relationship with Hoklanda and Kellemderiel (I have the map printed, I don't actually memorize spellings). The dialogue provides you with a bit of interesting conversation, but I don't believe that it is actually important for any quests or anything.
  10. After I finish my first immersion playthrough, I'll read through the scripts (when I get some free time...) and make a list of all quests and when I can get them. Of course, such a list probably exists already.
  11. I haven't gone back to the region since beating the Shadow Beast, except for the first companion quest. I don't think that the Shadow Beast was anyone important, but I had convinced it to return with me to Avadon when the jerk came and killed it. Well, he forced me to kill it. I could let the jerk take my exp, now could I?
  12. I can't admit that I'm a big fan of TFC, but Nietzsche quotes are always fun. And happy birthday, Dantius. May another year of your life be wasted here as well as the last one.
  13. Perhaps I was a tad critical. I have had some help, like when my hard drive failed. The guy plugged it into the server to see if he could get it to show up, and then he recommended some drive recovery places (not worth the $600+ for some school assignments and music). However, after they've diagnosed your problem, the fees they lay on you to replace parts are exorbitant. Our power supply was bad, and I diagnosed it in maybe maybe 5 minutes and replaced it for just the cost of a new part, maybe $70. They're time fee alone would likely have been $200. I guess, then, that my beef lies with Apple, and not their "geniuses" in particular.

  15. I believe that those same creatures attack twice on all difficulties. I recall them double-hitting me on casual.
  16. There is no replay value if people give up on their first play through, uninstall the game, and throw spiderweb out the door. To replay a game, one must be able to play the game.
  17. Congratulations. Now, let's see how close I am!
  18. Don't worry, I missed them at first, too. I was wondering when I would get to pass the rune doors, thinking that the stacks were protected by one of them. And then I saw the hiding door. I felt smart.

Does that mean using backtoavadon has no impact on which medals you can earn? I think that the game completion quests require no cheats at all, but I'm not sure.
  20. There are definitely issues with being able to use abilities after your turn ends but before the next one begins. The longer your turn takes to finish up (and it sounds like this ability takes a while, I haven't actually used it yet), the more "bonus abilities" you can get it. They are definitely not supposed to be there.
  21. The one game I ordered (G2) came in a round case.
  22. Do you know those huge towers in nuclear plants? The ones with huge amounts of steam billowing out of them? It's hard to release steam from underground. There has to be some large vent between the plant and the atmosphere. There are probably numerous other issues that I don't know about.
  23. Just out of curiosity, does the make-up of your party ever significantly influence your game play? Do their custom dialogues ever trigger any flags?
  24. The commentary is great. I have to stop every 30 seconds or so to calm myself. That said, I've played the game before. It is absolutely impossible. And yet I know people who have beaten it.
  25. Miranda in Geneforge was Alwan's favorite. Miranda in Avadon is one of RB's top 3.
