My laptop was getting single-digit down and uploads in my room, averaging maybe 3.5 and 1. Moving down to the room with the router, I was up closer to 18 and 4. When I plugged it into the modem with an ethernet, it was 30.95 and 4.39. The download is about the same as my desktop, but the upload is screwy. My desktop was getting about 30 and 22, not 30 and 5. I guess now the question is: is the router or my computer causing the slow wifi in my room. Maybe I can use my dad's laptop when he gets home in a few days. EDIT: 14.5 and 9.5 - the numbers I just got. I was up in my room again, only the airport signal still claimed to be strong. The numbers were on average produced by 1.5/4 "bars" of strength.
  2. I meant that I hope the poor tech support was a one-time incident, but I guess I was hoping in vain.
  3. I suppose that's to be expected. Java and Flash are known for being terribly slow. I guess a big part of my inquiry is whether newer hardware will help with the wireless connection and let me use the full bandwidth being paid for.
  4. I'm not sure on the details of the two stats, but luck is almost entirely useless. Or at least it is in all later games.
  5. Regardless of how Masquerade may have acted, good tech support means good customer loyalty. I hope this was a single unfortunate occurrence. Alas, the support member does seem to be using some sort of translator in certain phrases, yet seems completely fluent in others. Quite baffling. And people are never as good at multitasking as they think: tech support shouldn't have to do it.
  6. Make sure that you open every single locked door in the secure cells (don't worry about the one with the rune, nothing of interest is back there, just some loot for later). I almost missed him when I finally got around to searching.
  7. So I'm more and more frustrated with my internet service. I'm on a 7 year old PowerBook G4 running 10.5.8, so I don't expect fantastic internet service. Also, I'm about as far away from my router as possible in my house, and my wireless card is as old as the computer. My gripe is this: most websites load slowly given the internet connection that I have. Will switching browsers help this significantly? I had been using Firefox and I'm trying Opera at the moment. Is there any way I can get websites like Youtube and Facebook to load at higher rates, or will I need a new computer before any significant changes can occur? That said, my desktop (an equally old G5 iMac, PPC with same OS) runs slowly on the internet as well, although not quite as slowly.
  8. You actually did a better job than you think: you stopped them from completing the tunnel. It never gets all the way into Verbeaux.

I figured that the real Zhossa reappeared right after the message, but I was too lazy to find him.

  11. If you're sure that you didn't do anything weird to break the game (which is highly unlikely), you probably have a corrupted save file. That tends to explain most trouble with things like this. Try going to an older save (if you have one) and seeing if it happens again.
  12. After meeting that group of soldiers, I went scouting out the entire area. I ended up taking on the titans all by my lonesome and, upon returning to the surface, wondering if they would be disappointed. Turns out they just left. I guess they weren't all that eager for battle after all.
  13. The problem with putting an expansion on Avadon is that we have 2 distinct ending types: rebellion and loyalty. To make a good expansion, Jeff would have to do continuations for both of these. By making a new game, Jeff gets to make up an ending and make a single story line from there.

There is also a format for putting in definite integrals that uses the standard symbolic notation rather than fInt(f,x,a,

I was quite disturbed by this quest line. I don't think that your responses were always the best. (Then again, that problem plagued me with all 4 character quests.) So, Redbeard's note says: Code: I pardon you for your crimes, as long as you avoid my servants. Hide, creature. Cross me again, and you will be brought before me. Well, it seems to be that Cahil has failed at avoiding servants. My interpretation of this indicates that I now get to bring Cahil into Redbeard for murder of hands and failing to stay hidden. But is this an option? Unfortunately not.

Also, as my tech ed teacher (who is really a mathematician who just applied too late for the opening) says, you don't really use numbers in math. You use variables and operations. Numbers are only for examples.

Ideally we would all use some sort of formatting agent that would allow us to put fractions into our writing. Also, one can argue that subtraction and division are false operations are are more accurately described as adding negative numbers and multiplying by reciprocals.
  18. You mean some women don't want to be housewives with large hips and well-exercised loins? Shocking! And isn't the media the best source of any information in the world? I'm really starting to look into colleges. It sounds like you've found one that will get a big red X.
  19. As with most things Nicodimus gives you, they don't have a clear use. There are a few trick areas where dropping trail of "bread" crumbs can help, but other than that, they're just a fun little trinket.

Let's also not forget Avadon's payments to other allies, as well as the cost of maintaining the fortress. Also, while you seem to be on pretty important missions, you start out as a total nobody, and your companions aren't exactly favored soldiers. No one really cares for you enough not to rip you off.
  21. Altering scripts would require that you find each script for each zone with a switch. Altering the graphics (by adding what, one or two lines of code?) adds the effect to every switch in the game. This way, you don't have to find them to make them more obvious.
  22. There is a file in your resources folder called "textplot." All of the stuff you're looking for is in there. But beware, this has all of the plot-related text for the whole game.
  23. Currently we're learning how to identify internet predators. I'm not using this as an experiment... ...
