I read it as saying that people shouldn't be required to learn about a wide range of topics because it makes courses longer and more expensive, which makes them more inaccessible to the poor. I agree with that interpretation, although I couldn't get to it on my own. Gen. Ed. requirements should be kept to public primary and secondary education (before college/university for those not in the States). While there are benefits to Gen. Ed., the costs outweigh the benefits if there are more than just a few simple requirements.

Things change.

  5. I went to a black sash test for a friend in Kung Fu, and the head of the school and one of the older black sashes did a demo. The head was dual wielding swords. And it was major BA.

I have to agree here: Geneforge games have bottles of wine, which could upset a family that condemns alcohol. However, there is a difference between that and a game focused around alcohol (why you would play a game like that is beyond me...). Each individual has their own values and definition of "family friendly." The best any group, such as the ESRB, can do is establish general guidelines that focus on majority ethics and leave them as recommendations.
  7. As a cashier at a grocery store that serves 150% of the elderly people in the area, I can say that current old age sucks. They sit there spending my tax money on groceries, have me keep the bags light because they haven't had good muscle tone in 30 years, and they can't here a word I say. I suppose that's not exactly old age, but degeneration caused by old age. There are still wonderful elderly people out there, and I certainly wouldn't go killing all of the disabled people in the world, but they do irritate you after a while.
  8. It seems that Spiderweb has come down with a severe case of RAS syndrome.

It's also completely free, which is a plus. Because I didn't have enough to do already, I am now addicted to that game. Thanks.

  11. It may be my youth, but I don't see what the big deal is. They're prequels, of course some people will like them and others won't. That's life, pick a side and move on. Darth Maul and Grievous are cooler visually, but Vader finds your lack of respect for him disturbing. I love the effects in the prequels more, yet I respect the original story.
  12. Back on the original topic, my mac, at 7+ years of age, can run for weeks without needing a reboot (although the spell-check on my AIM client tends to die after 14 or so days).

  16. I decided to reread the Chronicles recently. His writing style is definitely not what I'm used to, and I haven't gotten far enough for the story line to compensate, but then again, I'm only two chapters into the first book.

  18. Jeff wouldn't release it solely on Steam, would he? And he wouldn't make the game (the non-Steam version) intel-only, would he? All this talk of Steam is worrying me!
  19. I'm a native of Wisconsin. Trust me, I've seen some people who can drive in snow.
  20. I'm pretty sure you're just getting lucky. People have, I believe, actually done empirical tests and shown that luck has no effect on item drops.
  21. The school system here in Maryland released an hour early. The forecast called for a whole inch of snow. Then again, Marylanders can't drive to save their lives...
