That doesn't really contribute to, whose was it, slarty's (?) comment that most jobs don't get long vacations/summers off. As for teachers and summer pay, I know that at some colleges where my mom has taught, she had the option of spreading her pay out over 12 instead of I think 10 months. I'm not sure if primary and secondary (public) education offers similar programs. Now I'm intrigued. I think I'll ask someone if my school does that on Tuesday. Don't change that channel!
  4. Unless you're using the mac app store version of the game, you can find all of the plot dialogue in a script file titled textplot.txt (on a mac).

No, I'm pretty sure that it doesn't work. Just like killing ornks, you'll stop getting any exp at all after a certain level.

First, there is a point at which that cheat gives you no exp, or at least there was in earlier games. Second, the level limit in G5 is well below 100. I think that it's 61.
  7. My district goes until the 17th of June, although seniors finished this week (ish). Maryland summers are far too hot and humid for me, being a native of Wisconsin. Air conditioning set to 68, please. My mom thinks 82 is the proper cooling temp. We just suffer until ambient breaks 90 (or higher).

  10. It goes in order of the stats. If it goes to strength, the next threw will go into dex, life, and energy, respectively. And from there, the cycle starts over.
  11. I never had them help me, I just solo'd the entire zone. I never even got to bid them farewell, they just left while I was under the keep.
  12. The regular medals all have their requirements posted. The hidden medals are discussed here. I don't know if someone has put together a single and easy-to-read list.
  13. Eventually, you'll get a quest from Hand Callan to search the secure/lower cells. You can find Spiridon during that quest.

  15. While operating as an admin may be a general security risk, it's really quite useful for those of us who know how to use computers. I suppose that the UAC prompt isn't all that different from the mac system other than the specific content that brings it up. Whenever I do a software update or anything of the sort, I have to enter my (admin) password.

In theory it's a nice idea, but it often gets in the way of stuff like this (and more notably, BoA stuff). Wait. I'm not on Windows, so help me understand the idiocy. When you first start up your computer and make your account, doesn't it default you to an admin? So shouldn't the primary account be able to edit all of the program files?
  17. So the whole thing with the Rapture occurring at 6pm local time. Why would any sort of divinity respect our arbitrary lines and rules governing what we think is "time?" Also, have any of our Australian members noticed any extra bodies in the skies? No? Weird, I thought we'd finally get a doomsday prediction right! Unless, of course, no one in the Eastern Hemisphere is worth saving!* *This is not meant to start any sort of race/nationalistic war. It just hasn't happened over here yet, so I can't rule any Western Hemisphere residents out.
  18. I think this happened to me as well, and I figured that they just returned to their homes. When I went back to Avadon, everything seemed to make sense.
  19. The specializations that you can put in only apply to the skills that you have trained in previously. If I put in a specialization in the middle before completing the middle tree, each skill that has been trained receives the bonus, and the others will receive it as soon as they have their first level.

  21. There are two ways. First, you can replay the game as often as you'd like and explore the different options. Second, you can find the script folder and read through the file titled Textplot.
  22. Oh, then I think I may have gotten it. There's only the one?
  23. 1. Jeff has never been too consistent with effect names. Someone can probably look in the scripts and give you a better idea of what effects there are and what abilities/items use which effects. Keep in mind that some quests are given well before you can complete them. For Spiridion in particular, you have to wait until Hand Callan gives you a quest in the secure cells before you can find him. Also, Spiderweb is a two/three man operation, so they can't put in all the detail into the quest log that we may want. A bit annoying, yeah, but it's part of life. I never noticed any ivory skulls, so count your blessings. Jeff puts in lots of items just for variety, scene, and vendor fodder. Don't think too much about the thousands of daggers placed throughout the game, just loot anything worth anything.
  24. I set my computer version (when I play) to let us (me and the 5 computers) pick our countries one by one, and then the game randomly places our starting armies. Australia is typically a safe bet, as the computer AIs all look for control of a continent. As long as you're the first one there, you can get it before the game starts and then take a single holding in other continents. I then slowly take over Asia. After a round or two of holding the whole thing, it's simple to plow through the rest of the Eastern Hemisphere. North America is my least favorite to start with because I can never get it before the other players all have continents. Then again, I've only ever attempted Europe a handful of times. The worst part is that, like I said, the AIs in my game all go for continents. It comes down to having an early pick and manipulating the continent selection. After that, it just takes non-suckage dicerolls to avoid, well, suckage.
