  1. Always a good double-check: Completely uninstall and reinstall the game and see if the problem persists.

  3. If it were vitality that regenerated, players could simply use healing spells repeatedly until they were at full health, and then let their vitality bring itself back up. To make vitality-regeneration work without breaking the game totally, Jeff would have had to remove healing spells.
  4. In 102% of cases, the answer to the question above is found to be yes.
  5. Honestly, if it weren't for these boards, I would never have been able to complete the quest. The secret switches are too difficult, at least on the brick walls.
  6. I remember my first (and only) real playthrough of G1. I remember spending hours hacking away single pylons with my agent (I had accidentally overwritten my shaper early on) and a single battle alpha. It was my first real RPG experience, and I quit somewhere in those mines. I only ever went back through when using an editor and steamrolling for fun. My point is that I remember those mines being really frustrating when you don't know how to handle them. Stick with it, though, and someday you'll laugh when you think back to it.
  7. EDIT: Nevermind, I feel foolish. No, I have no idea if the colors mean anything.

Our teacher has been pulling these articles out of collections that she got a number of years ago, so nothing is all that recent. It's still interesting to look at some of the explanations for the political disengagement.
  9. We read this in our AP US History class while our teacher was away. I only skimmed it, but it may be an interesting read for those of you interested in the reasons for and against American's political involvement.

I had noticed this before, and it always frustrates me. Why are numbers so mean to me?
  11. Loot? If you found some bizarre "glitch" that let you kill enough people to escape, just escape. Come back later and loot. You got lucky.
  12. Experience is evenly divided between your characters, and the amount of experience each receives is unaffected by the number of characters with you (unlike Geneforge, where you could dilute your exp). There also goes for your companions back in Avadon - they gain the same exp as your guys out in the field. HOWEVER, each character starts with a slightly different amount of exp, based on what you do before each companion is made available. Once you have them all, the differences in their exp is fixed (until you hit level 30) for the entire game. But don't worry, with the game's level cap, you won't have any shortage of exp.

Originally Posted By: CRISIS on INFINITE SLARTIES I THINK the odd reason is that items with a value of zero won't sell, but items with a value above zero will sell for fractional value. I know that this was the case in previous games. G1 had a value of less than 0.5 for basic thorns, but if you got a larger number, the game would add them all up and round the value. Certain beginning weapons and armors are worthless to shops. Daggers and leather gloves fit this category. Once your characters have graduated to bigger toys, you can just drop all the daggers in some baddies basement for fun. Also, I think I saw this somewhere, but I couldn't find it as I was pulling quotes. The only items that you ever need to keep for quests are Drake Skins and Arcane Scrolls.
  14. I assume from your title that you'd like a fix to your complaint. However, no such fix exists to my knowledge. This is a common complain, so Jeff may decide to consider changing how things work in Av2.
  15. Oh... well then thanks I think we should move on, though.

Yes, the odds that this particular planet that we call "Earth" would have the proper conditions for the life we see around us is infinitesimally small. But look at the bigger picture! There are billions of planets out there, and the likelihood that not one planet would be conducive to life is actually pretty small. It's like Slarty's lottery comment. From an individual's perspective, receiving a jackpot lotto ticket for millions of dollars is crazy-unlikely. And yet, from the lotto company's perspective, it's a normal occurrence. If there is a 0.001% chance of something happening, you can't say that it will never happen, just that you'd have to try a good many times before you see any positive result.

  20. That is far beyond the scope of a skill editor. That would require adding huge amounts of additional graphics and coding in which graphics correspond to which items. It would require Jeff to spend large sums of additional money for graphics that don't actually affect gameplay. I enjoy it in games where it is present, but I'd rather not force Jeff to double his graphics cost (and also his selling price) just for additional graphics.
  21. I just mentioned it in the school thread, but it's perhaps more fitting here. My school district (Maryland does them as each county is a single district) was released 3 hours early for the heat and humidity. The threshold is supposedly 90°F by 11am. I honestly didn't think today was as bad as it could have been. And they've already called tomorrow at 3 hours early dismissal. Being a young'un and all, and not having been born in these parts, I don't know how normal this is. What isn't normal is the dearth of AC in schools. If sending every kid in the district home 3 hours early happens multiple times a year due to heat, maybe they should stop repaving roads and spend some money on AC for us kids.
  22. School seems to be out early for me. Today, we got out 3 hours early for the heat (90°F by 11am at any point in the whole county), and they've already called another 3 hours early for tomorrow. Summer? Aside from a few days to attend my cousin's wedding, I'll be spending the whole thing working and taking Health in summer school so that I can graduate.
  23. Click the journal button and look at the special items. I believe Avadon switched training to appear as special items and have a passive, charm-like effect.
  24. Maryland is far too hot for me. The next few days will be in the 90s, and then we'll be dipping in and out of the 80s. My family only sets the AC to 82°F, which is 10-15 degrees above my liking. I can't wait to return to cooler states.
