  1. For the Onyx Scepter quest, watch the crystals standing around the room. And, if I'm not mistaken Purging crystals do not work against mental effects. You need to be sure you have a priest with Unshackle Mind and keep that character outside the room if possible. For the key to the Crypt of Drath, there's Click to reveal.. a record inside one of the sarcophagi that points you down the path to finding it . And you need Click to reveal.. the six silver triangles for Lost Bahssikava (unless you mean the gate after that, which Click to reveal.. you cannot open so stop worrying about it ).
  2. Hey Randomizer, I think there's another shovel down the hidden passage on the left of the Nephar fort, in case you need it to keep on digging. ;-)

I believe you mean milliliter, not liter. Also, if we're being really specific about it, gram is a unit of mass, not a unit of weight. We do general conversions between pounds (weight) and kilograms (mass) in daily life because we're working with Earth normal gravity, but an object's mass does not vary with the gravitational field. Speaking of the logic of liquid measure, of course the term pint exists because it is the volume of water that weighs one pound.
  4. There's also Miss Marple. She's certainly a household name. I would argue that Holmes and Bond continue to be famous because of the film adaptations, but became famous because of the books/stories (especially in the case of Holmes, since there were no motion pictures at the time he was written). There's also Emma Bovary, Lady Chatterly, Princess Leia (for a bit of cognitive dissonance).
  5. Haven't pulled up Avadon for a while, but I thought crystals worked on the whole group, potions worked only on the individual consuming them.
  6. What Lilith said. Video game and RPG companies aiming for the mass market have never failed to underestimate the maturity level of their buyers, and have been handsomely rewarded for it financially. When the game companies don't go that way (except for a few silly cut-scenes, most of the time Dragon Age: Origins has properly clad females), you see "make them naked" mods. You're not alone in your annoyance. However, game companies know they'll gain more players aiming low than they'll lose. It's not unlike Hollywood. I recall a friend of mine talking about being in a development meeting about a serious drama when one studio exec piped up, "Can we get a bra shot in this scene?" They did.
  7. You can complete all three story lines in a single play-through. They are not mutually exclusive. Depending on your difficulty settings, completionism, and general play style, each subsequent ending adds a couple hours on average. You may be able to complete all three in under 40 hours of game time, it may take you 60 hours to finish just one of them. That's all up to how you do it.

  9. Slarty posted a snippet from an email from Jeff Vogel that said the change would appear in the next update of the Mac version, but did not give a specific date when that would happen. I think he did it just to stop the Windows users from whining so much about how they were always behind. ;-)

  11. There was that Nephil place over across the river. Trying to figure out how the two maps match up can be weird, though.

That is how it's worked in every Spiderweb game. It's several years down the road and the next major conflict is underway and you come in as a fresh new face. It allows for new players to enter a series anywhere along the way and avoids balancing problems trying to make the game work equally well for a level 1 character and a level 30 character.
  14. And there's no reason you can't switch Demonslayer in and out of use depending on what you're fighting.
  15. I think Randomizer has fun coming up with the actual quip he uses each time to modify his tag line.
  16. And there are, in fact, 7 crystals, you only need 6 of them.
  17. The outdoor secret passages are generally pretty obvious and will open as soon as you walk up to them.
  18. If you were a slith looking for a way back to Bahssikva, it would be important. It has no effect on the game.
  19. Sorry, meAzuma. Didn't think that was much of a spoiler, given the way you find out about Scimitar in the game. Hid the specifics.
  20. They are people who want to Click to reveal.. find an exit from the underworld and want to fight the Empire. If you want to do those things too, you might want to talk to them. You can always kill them all after you finish their quests. ;-)

  22. Hmmm. According to the list, that should be Arcane Lore level 8, but it may be like the books in the Stagnant Caverns where Sage Lore doesn't count. You could quickly test that if you're near it. Open the character editor, give someone 4 more Arcane Lore, and try reading it again. (Save first, of course)
  23. While Jeff has done a lot to simplify the game and reduce the number of ways players can cause themselves to be unable to finish it, he hasn't gotten rid of all of them, and I hope he never does.

    Ogre lair

You need to haste your party. Speed potions, battle crystals, etc. It's been a while since I've been through Avadon so I don't remember all of the available options. Action Points are a measure of how much your character can do in a round. An attack takes 9 action points (usually). Moving one space takes 1, unless an opponent is next to you (in which case it takes more, but I don't recall the exact number). So, move several spaces forward before attacking or move one space if you're already near an enemy. Use teleportation if you can to move past the first line of enemies. Just keep moving forward.
