  1. I use Your Freedom to access firewall-blocked websites. it's nice.
  2. But I don't quite understand that. The two aren't mutually exclusive. The time (of birth) itself is a variable to the function which determines the position of the planets on their respective axes. Nope. November is the coolest month of the year; one I always look forward to after the September heat.
  3. What, really ?! But I remember an Awakened servile telling me in G2 that all the serviles of Sucia Island, regardless of sect, were treated the same and killed mercilessly.
  4. I don't believe in astrology, basically because I don't know enough about it. But I do occasionally peep into the Your-Fortune columns of the weeklies I've subscribed to, and wow over the coincidences.
  5. Hey, no, it's like there isn't any animation. Charcacters usually have 'breathing' animation, but when dazed they stand absolutely still.
  6. I vote for BoA going open, too. can't wait to see the source code.
  7. Well, the only way is by looking closely at the characters. The dazed ones won't have animation on them.
  8. I liked G3 a lot better than the others. The linearity of jumping from one island to another was a welcome change, and a relief, after having been made to be in a central location with several directions to go to in the previous games. Besides, you are a shaper, you know, which I like. Not a rebel, and not an amnesia-ridden either-way kind of person.
  9. Yea. 'Gree. I went through the Wiki; it's surprisingly well-made, especially considering it was made by such a small number of people.
  10. I prefer paper, but only because I've found computers to be too unreliable. Many a time I've lost an important e-document because my PC got unstable and I had to reinstall my OS.
  11. I think Lilith's lowercase posts have got more to do with the mood of posting than the sarcasm. And they have a nice touch of incompleted-ness about them, which leaves a hanging-in-the-air effect. Nice, really.

    THIS IS HALLOWEEN!!!

Halloween. How nice. I've seen it in movies where kids go around all dressed up in ghostly outfits.
  13. Hm but wouldn't that defeat the purpose of shaping serviles ? I mean, they were only made to do work. So if they could also cast spells and shape, wouldn't there be a definite risk of them rebelling sooner. What do you mean by safeguards and concerns for social order ?
  14. Am I right in thinking that a person who can sense nothing (from babyhood) is incapable of thought ? I always think in the language I am most familiar with, and my thoughts have always appeared to me to be algorithmic at the base level. From what you say, it appears that I've been restricting my thoughts by limiting them to a set of predefined words and phrases. I wonder whether this has anything to do with left-brain/right-brain dominance. Of course, because of this I've no trouble explaining my thoughts to another person.
  15. Edit : Sniped, twice. Hm but I don't suppose there is practically any reason for keeping the old boards though, now that you can't post over there anymore.
  16. Nice try, but a forum.........is a forum.

  17. Easier to put a rat over there, than having to think something else up. Big rats, green rats, acid-bite rats......Gyah. I hate rats.
  18. Why don't you see if you can modify the zones themselves, like putting in new characters and referencing them with new talknodes ? PS : Every once in a while, somebody comes along and, like me, complains about how there is no modding in G5. Sadly, the demand for mods is indeed rather low, but if one of us does something fantastic with the game, I guess the rest of us will be inspired to add on to it.
  19. Sitting in the train one day on my way back from college, I was joined by a bearded, elderly man who had with him one of those big, man-sized umbrellas which can so conveniently be also used as walking sticks. After making himself comfortable on the seat beside me, he began to recite a series of slokas under his breath. Now this is very unusual behaviour, for slokas are usually recited in front of a holy idol only. Why should a person recite slokas in a train? I asked him whether he was a Brahmin. The world, as our great grandfathers knew it, was divided into four primary castes; the Kshatriyas (kings/warriors), Brahmins (priests/learned men), Vaishyas (traders/businessmen) and Shudras (peasants). Naturally, I assumed that he was from the Brahmin caste. They are the most ardent worshippers of, and are devoted to, our gods and goddesses. But he said, no, he wasn't a Brahmin. He proceeded to tell me that, in fact, he wasn't even a Hindu. He was a Christian by birth, but had read all the religious texts of the three dominant religions. He was an astrologer. I said, great. An astrologer. Can he elaborate upon the faint ideas that I have of astrology having to do with a person's life being determined by the time and place of the person's birth? Why, yes, he told me, that is true. When a newborn baby has its first contact with Earth, the baby's destiny is planned. It has to do with latitudes, longitudes, and the positions of the various planets at the time of birth. What is my nakshatram, he asked. I replied, Chodhi. Hm, hm, hm. You were influenced by bad planets my son, but don't worry, Jupiter will save you until you are about 34. You must have had an unpleasant childhood, yes? (I nodded slightly at this one, not wanting to disappoint him) And, oh yes, - people with Chodhi usually have problems with their studies, so take care. Diplomatic though I usually strive to be, a look of skepticism must have flitted past my face, for he told me that I shouldn't consider what he says to be some fantastic ramblings of a deranged old man. All of this, he said, has a firm basis in science. You see, it's like this: The Sun emits energy. This energy (or some of it), when falling on the planets, if reflected back onto Earth. This is Good. When energy is not reflected, it is Bad. And because of <insert un-understandable physics-related thing here> you see that electrons are involved in the whole process. This combination of Good and Bad (put together by several complex astrological formulas) is what determines, at least in part, what a person is. Sad is my knowledge of Physics, and our conversation was one-sided to so great an extent that I resigned myself to meekly listening to everything he said, and nodding wisely whenever he said anything about electrons and energy. Sigh.
  20. Um, sorry, what ? Can't I select an option now ?
  21. No, no looting stuff from the noble, fallen Nightwatcher. I <attack the other side of the crowd>.
  22. Absorbing one in a group sparks off a chain of explosions ?! Might be useful. There are a couple of 'friendly' people whom I've always wanted to kill, but I was never powerful enough.
