I still think the RP should be controlled by a single storyteller who knows exactly where we are going and how to get there. Or risk one of the short-sighted RP participants creating a big twist (however interesting it may be) which makes the story ricochet off in a totally different direction than what was intended. And then we are standing in the middle of nowhere wearing a Santa Claus costume, holding a fluffy turtle, totally out of ideas and wondering what to do next. Posts once made in the RP can't be undone either, so every about-to-make-plot-twister-poster will have to first ask permission in a 'discussion' thread first, which makes the entire thing too boring and 'work'-like. Reading the Discussion Thread before posting in the RP shouldn't be a requirement, as it had turned out to be. I mean, the idea never was to get together and create a perfect story, was it ?

I had imagined otherwise, seeing that there is no real reason for being family-friendly in the mod board unless of course it includes under-aged members, which is no longer the case. Just a thought.

But I don't understand, what apart from hunting (or historical interest) is a reason for carrying a gun, anyway ? What exactly do you mean by self-defense - is it what you do when a street-gunner goes wild and begins shooting everyone in sight, or when a burglar breaks into your house and threatens you? What level of gun-usage would come under the term, I mean would that legally justify your shooting him down ?

I checked, and there's no option by which I can 'Feature' any of the entries. So I guess the tag gets stuck to the entry by mods and the authors will have to live with it (Of course, it's not exactly a bad thing but I always like to feel in control of what I do ). What is this feature for, anyway ? If it's meant to be a tag of recognition for an entry, it doesn't work out very well as half of the bloggers who have at least an entry are mods themselves. And why should some dictator alone decide which of the blogs deserves promotion ? Now if the 'feature' was attached only by popular vote by all the readers, it'd make more sense. And that's only when we have around 15-20 very active blogs. Edit : I'd like to clarify, if at all anyone was in doubt, that I was not calling SoT a dictator. And here's what I'd like to have seen when my blog entry was featured.

Yes, it does work quite well on a 32-bit Win7 (amazing, considering that the setup detected my system as running Windows 95 ). The graphics look pre-Exile though.

I'd play Eschalon just for their fantastic lighting system. Being able to hold torches actually makes you want to get down into the dungeons.

Why don't you try playing some of Spiderweb's older games. You'll see that the introduction of PNGs has only made the games a lot more visually appealing.

Um, yeah, I guess so. I don't really know why this option is available at all; it's probably just a technical thing. Casting the Dominate or Charm spell just toggles the friendly/hostile status of whatever character you cast it on irrespective of whether it's your creation or an enemy. The beta-testers may have a better idea of what it's all about.

ADoS, I have no idea why you asked me to pay special attention to the RP rules you posted here. It's all just common sense anyway . I haven't violated any of them, in my point of view, but if you think I have then be specific and I'll ensure it doesn't happen in my upcoming posts. I guess I shouldn't have had that raptor bite Harehunter's antler off, but it didn't distort HH's story or the main storyline in any way. Besides, he seems to be okay with it. If not, I'm sorry HH. One point I'd like to add to what ADoS said is (more of a guideline) : Avoid private amusements and inside jokes which may annoy other/newer participants and keep them wondering. And don't assume everyone knows what you're talking about, be it Dr. Who/TARDIS or Harry Potter. By the way this RP is starting to be more of work than the entertainment it's supposed to be. Are we really such a pack of dummies that we need an 'RP Rules and Guidelines' to refer to ? Just be nice, pay attention, think before you post and we all have fun.

Being a typical spellcaster, the Big Man dislikes those forms of attack that involve physical exertion. He whips out his Wand of Brahma and chuckles inwardly as he thinks about what combination of spells can best dispose of the raptors. Standing well away from the dinosaurs (for mages are vulnerable to teeth and claws) he begins to pick the lot off, one by one. Big Man : Evanesco! Diffindo! Incendio! Expulso! One of the retreating raptors suddenly swings around and bites off one of Harehunter's antlers. The Big Man helpfully points his wand at Harehunter, opens his Handy Book of Spells, Grade III and flips through the pages for a good healing spell. Big Man : Hm....healing spell, healing spell....aha !! Episkey ! Harehunter grows a new antler and happily returns to the fray but is disappointed to find that the raptors are running away.

To make them go rogue ? No, you just select the spell and click on one of your creations. I'm not sure if it can be done in the earlier (pre-G4) games though.
