  2. Well anyway, here's a quick screenshot of what I got. Any suggestions?

Anyway, since we're touching on the subject, I still haven't ditched my goal for a Geneforge wiki, even though a poofed on Danette's Library. When w-dueck gets everything working again and all the sites back up, it'd probably be best for the series if my project and the project on Wikia worked together.
  4. Anybody want to post some screenshots? Not on my computer, I will as soon as I can.
  5. In the game universe? I'd find a small island to rule over. Probably rule like a Dictator, but with a little compassion. I wouldn't be cruel to my creations, at least not intentionally. In real life? I'd hide my abilities and probably would be to scared to use it.
  6. There is no "stealth mode." At least not per say. You can sneak around mines and enemies by keeping your distance from them, thus avoiding combat. More stealth points from items shrinks the field that creatures can detect your char. Yes, there is no Stealth skill, which was lazy of Jeff. Just imagine it's the 4th General skill. Edit: Typo
  7. By "powerful being", is that strictly limited to magical power? Or will it count if the party has to interact with, say, a powerful politician?
  8. Now now, give him some time. Have a little faith, no need to go deleting threads >.>
  9. Well I knew that. But he and the unaligned path are no where near as intricate or important as the other factions on that list, so it doesn't make sense to include him.
  10. Hmm, I think I might know what the problem is. Do the graphics all come out fuzzy and shredded-like? Try playing the game in a Window to see if it's that it can't handle full screen resolution. If that doesn't work, consider switching your graphics mode to Fast Graphics (the option can be found either in the start box that pops up or in Preferences).
  11. Aodare? Ehh, what was so important about him, aside from a table spoon of dialogue? Anyway, toughh to say. The Awakened were certainly the most "peaceful", and if they had their way, the rebellion would never have happened. But it didn't work out like that, so I would side with the Rebels over anyone else.

Hmm, I had to do something similar. .....Oh yeah, I figured out the problem. The CDs were fine, and my computer was working properly. But it was the launch program, the "Autoplay"? That was what was on the fritz. For anyone who has this problem in the future, where a CD refuses to download, when the first option appears on your screen? Do no click on the little game icon. Instead go to the Files (ie, the folder picture) and "manually" launch the copy by selected [insert game name here]Game. Be sure not to click Demo, as I'm not sure that it can be reversed, at least without Jeff giving you another passkey.
  13. Quote: I assume you mean "copy" or "install" and not "download," right? I also assume that when you say "didn't download" you actually mean the files got copied, but won't run. Or do you mean you can't even copy/install the files off the CD? Yes, that's what I meant. And I mean I can't even copy the files off the CD. Quote: There should be nothing to stop you from copying the data off of the CDs an unlimited number of times. (After all the CDs are essentially immutable; they would have no way to record being copied and affect later copy attempts.) Unless you've already tried it multiple times I would suggest just trying again, otherwise you should probably just contact Spiderweb about it. Your CDs may just have gotten damaged, and Jeff and company are pretty reasonable about giving new reg. codes to people who can show that they already bought the game. Then you can just download the demos from the website and unlock them. I've tried it quite a few times now, so I guess I'm off to Jeff to ask for a new code. Thanks for the help.
  14. Hey, I'm having some trouble installing all my SW games onto my new laptop. I always buy the CDs for every game for the last 3 years. I've had to reinstall G5 and BOA onto different computers once before. I have a new laptop now, and need to put my games back onto it. A6s' CD worked fine, but G5 and BoA didn't download. I suggest that the CDs can only be used once because I never used A6 before, and the only thing G5 and BOA have in common is that I've used them at least once. Is this a problem with my copies, or does anyone else have a similar experience?
  15. Quick question. Does the alpha version of the scenario need to be ready by July 31st? Or do we need to complete it and undergo Beta Testing, and then submit it to the judges?
  16. Probably either Alwan or Astoria. Best written characters of the game, in my opinion. I didn't like how Greta got a backseat in G5.
  17. Well, let's give this a shot.... Quote: Make a scenario where the party has to assassinate someone. The scenario will take place in a belt of farmland. The party will spend most of the time fighting nephil spies. Three things will be important to the plot: time running out, a disaster (like a famine or flood), and a powerful creature the party meets.
  18. Sorry, could you be more specific? You mean the Trakovite Haven? That should be friendly to you at first, and never hostile unless you attack them (which you can)

How can we be sure they do exist? We have regular contact with lesser animals. A Dog knows that its master exists, even if he or she doesn't understand what it is. Presumably, we have no contact with Spirits on any level, and if we did, we would be aware of their presence without a doubt. It seems that a slew of cultures and religions (dare I say all) focus on some sort of abstract being that is constantly present in our lives. Some of these even go back to prehistoric times, when Man was at its most primitive. You would think now, being so much more intelligent then we were, we would communicate with "Spirits." Perhaps we just aren't there yet, but imo, Spirits are just an explanation for what we don't understand, not the definition for a creature.
  20. You should be aware that making a *long* scenario is much harder then you'd think (or at least I thought, despite being told. A lot.) I would recommend trying to make a small scenario based on Avernum first so you can get comfortable with the engine. Once you get some skill, you're interpretation of this novel (unless I misunderstood you) will be much better. Alas, I'm not familiar with "Gregor the Overlander", so I can't say if the world would fit well in a BoA scenario. -- Acky
  21. Eh, it's about all the same to me. Avernum Originals engine was fine, if a little annoying to travel through. A4-6s' engine was perfectly acceptable as well, even if the world did feel a little squished. I would say the Geneforge zone had the best mix, but there seems to be enough nostalgia stroking going on.
  22. Hmm, interesting. I didn't notice that about her last time I played G5. Sometimes in RPGs I don't complete quests that put me in an awkard position morally. Take Dragon Age: Origins for example. My anti-chantry Mage never completed any of their quests, simply because she "hated" them. Lost out on some good exp and loot just for the simple act of roleplaying.
  23. Looks really cool Jeff! Good luck and be sure to work your magic.

    Taking a recess

So, my responsibilities have shifted quite a bit over the last months, and I need to start backing out of the forums I frequent. I'll drop in to get a beta for a BoA scenario I've been doing, but for all intents and purposes, I'll be "leaving" spiderweb for a long time. So to all my friends and CalRef buddies, it was wonderful meeting you, and I hope to see you again when Jeff releases his next game. -- Acky
