  1. Quote: FALSE. Gears used the Unreal Engine for both games, but Halo used a new or wholly re-structured engine for all three main-series games (to say nothing of the spinoffs). Also, Call of Duty has had so many games that they have switched engines from time to time, and weren't even all designed by the same studio. Just wanted to point that out. My point was that they didn't upgrade much throughout each of their series, and remained successful. This is more to the Halo Combat Evolved to 3 and the CoDs. A better example then Gears would be the total war series. From Shogun to Empire, the game has remained the same, just improved as the series has gone on, like what Jeff has been doing. Halo:ODST (its technically an expansion to Halo 3, but it was sold at the same cost as a regular game and was treated as such) has the same engine as the main series ones. Reach will be using the same engine as well.
  2. Even without that, Wingbolts had to fly over the water and attack Greta in G4. I always thought of their wings more as fins because of Craft variants.
  3. I can see what he's saying about reusing the game engine of a game and adding features. He's not the only one doing it, so I disagree that he's starting some sort of trend, or at the start of a new way to make games, or whatever he was getting at. Gears of War, Modern Warfare, and the Halo series for instance have been hugely successful, and their engines have more or less remained the same, with a few added features and some fixes. I don't really understand the comment about making shorter games with the same engine though. As long as we're talking big names here, $60 means I want $60 worth of content, not shorter games because people are too lazy to play through the whole game, and then complain that the game is somehow responsible. Jeff is being dumb comparing his 3 manned (well, womanned by majority) crew to companies with dozens and dozens of coders and programmers. They have more to risk, more jobs to possibly lay off, more debt to go into, then Jeff could ever possibly risk. Even in that dark BoA-G3 time frame, where he wasn't making a profit. Sometimes things work on the small scale, but not the large one.
  4. There's a Shaper in Rising who will pay for it. Not Barzhal or the shaper who makes the canisters.
  5. The Black Company by Glen Cook is really interesting. There's also the Tale of Krispos by Harry Turtledove.
  6. Wait a minute.....that tone....that sentence structure...... Who let the lizard back in? Anyway, you're probably correct, its just that your stance is a little off putting.
  7. I poured some boat oil on a kids backpack one time for tripping me in class. So shush.
  8. Fix it up, and avoid telling her about it. If you do tell her, make sure its after you've fixed up the holes.
  9. You need to first complete X's Anvil quests. His tower is south of Kelners. With his help, you'll be able to defeat him.
  10. Don't you dare talk about LOTR that way, or I'll throw you into Mount Doom > Death Note is okay. Its a pretty big cult classic. Its I Robot that seems way to out of place.
  11. I think up a Geneforge alternate universe every now or then, with Character in different positions and doing different things. I enjoy them. They allow me to continue the story of Geneforge in private, allow me to develop the universe more, add subplots, stories, and people. Doesn't make me want to make a game out of it though.
  12. ....Coincidentally enough, I just finished The Fellowship and am moving on to the Twin Towers. Was anyone else inspired by watching the movies on Spike too?
  13. Actually two places, if you count the endgame. /Shameless spamming.
  14. He's going to appear after you finish the Castles first quests somewhere else. So you haven't seen the last of that brave, brave man.
  15. The BoA Community I personally don't have a problem with the reviews as long as the scenario is not listed on the quality/top scenario list. If its a joke scenario with joke reviews, perhaps it should get a subcategory of its own. I mean, there's only like 3 or 4 joke scenario's ever made in BoA, and if not that, there should be some sort of obvious indication that the scenario is a joke scenario and not a "real" scenario, for the BoA lurkers and people looking at the reviews. Of course, that puts scenario's like Nobody's Heroes in an awkward position. It's clearly a scenario based on humor, so technically speaking, you can call it a "joke" scenario. But its clearly well thought out, well designed, and for all intents and purposes a "real" scenario. Unless I'm confusing "Humor" with "Joke" and that they mean something different.

That value is much more stable compared to the varied prices shopkeepers use. Most of your involvement with items involves selling them. It makes more sense for their value to be based on what you see most often, rather then numbers that only actually match up a handful of times when selling to vendors.
  17. Har har? All rats are technically small, even the large ones, when compared to humans. Also, place that in a spoiler tag so it doesn't stretch out pages so bad. How did you get the img code to work anyway?
  18. I tried out the demo, enjoyed it, and played the game half way through. I enjoyed it well enough, but the engine seemed rather primative, and it took you a very, very, very long time to get to places. Forcing you to invest in a skill to get access to the mini-map was also frustrating. If you have time, I would say it could be worth your money. Although, Eschalon 2 will be released soon, and its supposed to be very advanced (I would think so, condsidering how long its been delayed at least.)
