  1. He was probably confused because for some reason, Dintiridan used the "signature hyphen row" between the quoted text and his response, making it seem like he simply quoted the post without saying anything else, and the response seemed like part of the signature.
  2. I'm not sure how it is in Avernum, although I'm pretty sure it's about the same. In the Exile series, if you kill a man alone in a locked room with no windows in one hit, sheep will charge and attack you from across town. I'm glad the system has improved since then.
  3. Scenarios are being made and released, although scenario production has been slow. BoA design is slow as well, however, and BoE has a bigger fanbase. If you like BoE, design for BoE. You'll still have a good audience, and assuming your scenario isn't a total piece of crap, we'll appreciate it. The community is still around and as large as ever; the only problem is the dearth of new scenarios. If you want to make a scenario, please do so. There's plenty of people who are willing and able to help.
  4. Well, I didn't notice that one. Ihrno is spelled correctly in the thread title, at least.
  5. You're the first person I'm aware of who spells "Ihrno" correctly but misspells "Rentar". Usually it's the other way around. I just thought it was odd.
  6. It has disappeared. Gizmo now hosts a BoE graphics archive on her website.
  7. Is this Karamea person some oldbie I should know about, or just some random person who showed up, posted a couple questions, and left? I'm guessing by your enthusiastic greeting that it's the former, but I don't believe I've heard of this Karamea. No offense, Karamea. My memory is fuzzy.
  8. I believe the automatic doors work by specially shaped plants inside them as well.
  9. Lucky for you, we have lots of good articles about plotwriting (mostly at the Lyceum, see my signature) and a bunch of designers who like to help people with their plots. I was terrible at writing plots when I first came here too. Now I've gotten all the way to mediocre, due to the help of the community. So don't get discouraged.
  10. Quote: Originally written by Dikiyoba: Originally by Ephesos: Quote: Check your ego at the door, please. Do the fluffy turtles even take egos? Dikiyoba thought that the fluffy turtles rejected them on the basis that they taste like large, smelly boots. Do small smelly boots taste differently than large ones?
  11. Put the four graphics in the graphics file one after the other. In the editor, add 2000 to the slot of the first graphic in the animation.
  12. No, because then he just recycles old plots over and over again like he did with GF3 and A4 and we never see anything new again.
  13. Probably not a "major disaster", but it wouldn't be very popular either. First of all, it's impossible to make a scenario that never runs out of quests to do, unless you have the quests repeat themselves. Second, for the majority of BoE players, plot is an important part of the scenario experience. Also, quests are vastly more interesting and enjoyable when they are within the context of and part of a story. Third, it's really difficult to make a large scenario with many different choices for the player to make, especially if you have no previous designing experience and no plot to keep you interested in designing it for an extended period of time. Many people try, but very few succeed. Fourth, there are already several huge, epic scenarios with lots of quests to complete, notably the Spheres trilogy, At The Gallows (probably its sequel, Spears, as well, but I don't know much about it), and (especially) the Adventurer's Club trilogy, and all of them have plotlines. But why don't you try and come up with a plot? It doesn't have to be big and complex. Many popular scenarios are actually quite short and linear. There are several experienced designers and plotwriters here who can help you with pretty much any aspect of scenario design you can think of. There's currently a thread in the BoA forum called "I Want To Crush Your Dreams". Even though it's in the BoA forum, it applies to BoE as well. Might be worth a look. Glad to see a new prospective designer, at any rate. Welcome to the Spiderweb Software forums! Leave your sanity at the door, and don't expect it to be there when you leave. For that matter, don't expect to leave at all.
  14. If you're going to use Jasc Paint Shop Pro, use version 6 instead of version 5. Version 6 is freeware too. It's what I use, although granted, my graphics skills aren't that great, at least not compared to some other members of the community.
  15. I fixed up a little bit of spelling and grammar, but I didn't go through the whole article.
  16. I don't want to moderate. I don't have time.
  17. Also, there is currently a project to make a vastly improved editor for BoA. It will still be harder than BoE, but far less so than it is now.
  18. I like those silly slimes that are trying to look like people. They're the best characters in the series.
  19. Good job, people! I see that this has been accompanied by a remake of the forum header. However, Chains and Compositus are on the same line.
