  1. Did you try clicking the link Kelandon provided in the post immediately above yours?
  2. I think Ormus fixed Conceal Ability in the Windows XP port.

  4. It is possible, LakiRa@. Alorael just explained how to do it on a Mac. I have Windows, but I don't have A4, so I can't tell you how to do so on Windows. I do know that it's possible, however.
  5. The first letter of a sentence, such as the "T" in this sentence, the word "I" (as in "I went to the store")the first letters of proper nouns, such as the names of people, cities and countries, and letters in acronyms, such as USA (United States of America) or NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) should be capitalized. Most other letters should be lowercase. You may notice a key on either side of the keyboard labeled "Shift". Holding this down while you press a letter key will produce a capital letter. If you are not holding it down, then the letters will be lowercase. Caps Lock reverses this, to make it easier to type in all capital letters; however, this is not something you usually want to do, so it's usually best to keep Caps Lock turned off. Also note that some keys depict two symbols. For instance, there is a key with a > symbol above a . symbol. Holding down Shift while pressing this key will create the symbol on top. Caps Lock generally does not affect this, because these symbols are not letters. The "Caps" in "Caps Lock" is short for "Capitals". Compare: "I like dogs. Dogs are furry and playful. I have a pet dog named Fido. He is a friendly dog." "I LIKE DOGS. DOGS ARE FURRY AND PLAYFUL. I HAVE A PET DOG NAMED FIDO. HE IS A FRIENDLY DOG." "i like dogs. dogs are furry and playful. i have a pet dog named fido. he is a friendly dog."
  6. I think we decided that "Blades of Exile" would refer to the original, unmodified code and ports of it to other OSes that don't change the way scenarios or parties behave or are encoded, while "OBoE" (Open Blades of Exile) refers to the project that involves changing the way nodes behave, etc. There's no behavior or encoding changes for Windows yet (Ormus just ported it to XP, along with a couple minor aesthetic changes), but nodes have been modified for the Mac version. At least that's how I think we were going to do it. It's what I remember, anyway.
  7. That was something we were hoping to avoid doing, really. I guess it's your prerogative, given the terms of the license, but consulting the community first would have been nice.
  8. Quote: Originally written by Fear, Favor, and a Few More: Randomizer is a tester, but I think this is no terrible reveal. Boat movement really works identically to non-boat movement: you can click to move several spaces at once, or you can use the keyboard to move one space at a time. To get out of a boat requires clicking on it to spit your party back onto adjacent land. You can use both. It combines the old Avernum movement system where you can use the keyboard and/or mouse to move one space at a time with the Geneforge system of moving to a distant space by clicking it. Of course, you have to be careful not to cross the path of any pickpockets in the process of distance-click-automove movement. It's easier to see them coming and avoid them when you're controlling your characters manually than when they move on their own. After all, you wouldn't want them to steal your Chitrach eggsacs, would you? (You didn't hear this from me, but in Avernum 5, Chitrachs may or may not have been domesticated, making their eggsacs significantly more valuable...)
  9. The Exiles did not have attack animations. They had a static image for standing still, and a static image for attacking. They did, however, have animated terrains, in which the terrain would cycle through four graphics. Not sure if those were in all the Exile games, but it's in BoE and E3 at least.
  10. I don't think we have anywhere near thousands of BoE scenarios, but we do have hundreds.
  11. www.spidweb.com has had A4 for sale for quite a while, you know. That's the company's official website. They've released two more games since then, although one was a remake.
  12. keeper off, you realize that it says at the bottom of your post that you edited it three days after the fact, right? "Vahnatai" is both singular and plural, by the way. Normally I wouldn't be making fun of you for that, but I think you asked for it when you tried to tell us it was spelled right all along when it was obvious that it wasn't. EDIT: Changed "you didn't" to "it wasn't".

  14. There are hundreds of scenarios available for BoE, many of them of high quality, some exceptionally so. The CSR can help you find the good ones. Also, in case you missed it, BoE is open source now, and has been ported by community members to run natively in Windows XP and Mac OSX. It's now being modified to remove bugs and make various nodes more powerful, but you shouldn't create scenarios with the modified versions of the editor since those modifications aren't fully tested, standardized, or even cross-platform yet and therefore your scenario probably won't work if you use a modified editor to make it.
  15. Yes! We always want more scenarios. The community has plenty of resources available for designers and players, in the form of websites, articles, archives, and helpful people. The BoE community tends to hang around at The Lyceum (see the link in my sig), which has a message board (which includes the Comprehensive Scenario Ratings forums for BoE and BoA), scenario reviews, several helpful articles about scenario design, and some other stuff. Most of the community visits this forum too though. Also, TrueSite For Blades has scenario walkthroughs and downloads, arranged alphabetically. For graphics, I recommend looking through Pixle Profusion to see if a suitable graphic has already been made. Generally you simply need to give credit in the scenario's readme to the person who made the graphic. If you can't find what you need there, simply ask for what you need here and someone will probably volunteer soonish. Welcome to the community!
  16. Also of note is that Avernum 4 uses a very different engine than the earlier games in the series, and that BoE has hundreds of scenarios, many of them very good, and that BoE is also open-source and thus free.
  17. If you have a closed cube of six monitors surrounding your head, where is your neck?
  18. They're already playable, they just aren't included in the download. You can download them separately from TrueSite for Blades . Click on Walkthroughs, select the first letter of the name of the scenario you want (including VoDT, ASR, and ZKR), ignoring the words "A", "An", and "The" if they are at the beginning of the name (for instance, look under S for "A Small Rebellion").
  19. I don't know if any of these have been fixed already: On the Windows version of the scenario editor and the main program (not sure about the Mac version), the smaller Alien Beast graphic does not appear when selecting graphics, when placing the monster in a town, or when seeing the monster in the main program (haven't tested outdoors, but presumably it would be no different). Rather, it is replaced by the Mind Crystal graphic. The Strength Potion cannot be made via alchemy. This may be more complicated to fix, but it would be useful. When a message during dialogue is called via a node, if the player Records the message, bugs occur in the Talking Journal. Not sure about the exact nature of the bugs, but the messages don't record properly.
  20. The Blood Beast has always been one of my very favorite Exile graphics, and I think it's totally awesome that you made a high-quality Avernum version. There's something I wonder though, having never played very far in any of the Exile trilogy, having only seen that graphic used as a giant kobold, and there being no article about them in the Encyclopedia Ermariana. What is a Blood Beast, exactly? Just a monster made of blood? Some sort of demon? Undead? Is this ever established in the games?
  21. This would eat up a whole lot of Scenario nodes, however, if there are a lot of towns. If it's too complicated, though, it's not a big deal, I guess.
  22. Perhaps having an item call a Town or Outdoor special could be useful in certain scenarios, for instance, if you want the item's effect to differ depending on location. Whether the ability calls Scenario, Town or Outdoor nodes could depend on the Helps/Harms PC/Party buttons. For instance, Helps PC could have it call a Scenario node, Harms PC calls Town if in town and Scenario if outdoors, Helps Party calls Town in town and Outdoors outdoors, and Harms Party calls Outdoors if outdoors and Scenario if in town. I don't know if that's possible though. Is it?
  23. Ormus, I tried to download the scenario editor, but it appears the top two links on the page in your sig are the same as the two below them. By the way, it turns out that the color changing thing gets annoying in the scenario editor and the character editor as well. I guess it depends on what program I switch to or something.
  24. Actually, losing the Orb of Thralni won't doom you either. You can give yourself the Orb with the character editor. EDIT: Same goes for the brooches, actually.
  25. I'm looking for the boat in New Life so I can get to Aquatis and the Acidbeat Shrine like the walkthrough says. It implies that the boat is in Bhor-Tak's hut, but I don't see it there. I also can't get a boat at the boathouse near Bhor-Tak's hut. I just fought some Acid Priests and an Acidbeat in an outdoor encounter, and it told me to look around. I'm looking around and I still don't see anything. Any help as to where the boat is would be appreciated.
