  1. Running into some problems with the Revenge-style combat-mode death that are delaying things a bit, unfortunately. Still working though.
  2. Hello, Ormus! I'm putting together something to test killing and reviving the party in various situations. This will be helpful for you, and also it may be easier to coax a Mac user to test it if they have a short, simple scenario to test it with instead of having to go through the four (that I know of: Nephil's Gambit, SotS, Revenge by Creator, and also I think I heard once that one of Stareye's scenarios does it to take away the party's items but I could be wrong) scenarios that use this method. I'll get it done ASAP and send it along. Also, I just downloaded what I thought was the latest version. I can't use custom scenarios, however, and I thought that was fixed. If it wasn't, could you try to fix that as well? Thanks! EDIT: I can say, however, that the kill/revive bug originated before you broke the custom scenario thing. I have that version on ermarian.net, although not the source code, unfortunately. http://ados.ermarian.net/BoX/OrmusBoEWin32.zip
  3. The games are still played, actually, and your post might not exist, depending on when you made it, because the forum was pruned in 2004. Read the Code of Conduct if you haven't already, and obey it. Use the Edit button instead of posting several times in a row. Be patient and wait instead of clicking submit five times. Need I go on?

  5. Your saves will still work, by the way. Also, I recommend you type "&*()" (without the quotes) while playing BoE.
  6. I've released two scenarios, and I'm designing one that might actually be good this time. I haven't actually started putting it together and I don't actually have a complete idea of it yet, but I'm brainstorming stuff and hopefully I'll complete something eventually.

  8. Do I have to actually include the picture in the scenario, or can I just have a scene based on it? There's no splash screens in BoE. Also, I didn't realize the haunted place was in a forest when I first saw it. I came up with a good idea, but it takes place in Exile. Damn.
  9. I love ZKR. I found it to be gripping, exciting, and highly entertaining. I actually liked it better than ASR. While ASR had a more interesting plot (ZKR had barely any), ZKR was far more fun. I wrote a lengthy review of it at CSR, if anyone's interested.
  10. Revenge by The Creator had some items with a special class that he gave to each party member (he counted the party members at the beginning of the scenario) and when they no longer had an item of that class, they were all dead and were automatically revived by a node that checked for an item of that class. I don't remember the specifics, but something along those lines happened.

[pointless tangent]Try adding a wandering monster arrival point, and make it the scenario starting point as well. What fun![/pointless tangent]
  12. The cap is 50. You can go above it through experience-awarding nodes, but your level will spontaneously revert to 50 when certain things. I'm not sure what those things are, though.
  13. No, there isn't. There also isn't a node to check health.

  15. It turned into Richard White Games, and eventually was removed altogether, along with the SubTerra board (the SubTerra community continues on some other forum, I forget where). You may notice that Spidweb no longer sells Galactic Core, or any of RW's games, nor does he sell SubTerra or Homeland, which are both freeware now.
  16. I like the intro as well. Ormus said he only disabled it because it was annoying to sit through it every time he closed and opened the program, which he did often to test things and fix bugs and stuff.
  17. We have a good, player-oriented (rather than scenario-oriented) HLPM now, called New Market City. Also, The Lyceum is dead. CSR has been moved to Shadow Vale (forum.nethergate.net). There's Blades activity at Calamity Refuge as well, although I don't know the URL. EDIT: Yes, it's the previously mentioned Cleanup of Skalmir Cave.
  18. I'm not sure what you're saying. You can only change towns when the party steps onto a special node or a terrain that calls a special. Also, real-time moving walls are impossible in BoE, as the game is 100% turn-based with no real-time elements. I've heard that there are moving walls in the Exile trilogy, but that capability was not included in BoE. I'm also not sure what you mean by "test", so I can't tell whether it (whatever "it" is) will detract from the test's quality.

If there's another creation poll here, use lots of radio button sections, e.g. FAVORITE CREATION FAMILY (Fyora, Artila, Drayk, ...) FAVORITE FYORA VARIANT (No preference, Fyora, Cryoa, ...) FAVORITE ARTILA VARIANT (No preference, Artila, Plated Artila, ...) FAVORITE DRAYK VARIANT (No preference, Drayk, Cryodrayk, ...) ... I agree with this plan, although I still think there should be Favorite Overall Creation, Favorite Shapeable Creation, and Favorite Unshapeable Creation questions as well. Any other ideas?
  20. For you, my friend, I'd recommend "The Grinch", "Dragon Flame", "Nephil Cave", and "A Little Girl".
  21. I don't play Avernum much, but in BoE and A3 (when I do play it) I tend to save in the same way as Fermata. In BoE, when I'm playing scenarios with a lot of plot branching, I'll make more hazard saves than I do in a more linear scenario.
  22. No, we need ALL of them, for great justice! I shall add, in bold, the new creations. Tell me if any of them are incorrectly named. EDIT: Done. I didn't add the Infested Drayk because the infestation took place post-shaping. However, I must know more about these "special creations".
  23. Is this another Radiohead scenario? On another note, this is the first time I've ever actually saved to my computer, with intent to put it on my music player no less, a piece of music created by a Spidwebber.
  24. Updated the list. I don't think it would make sense to include natural animals (such as humans) that are augmented in the category of creations, since the main part of the creature is still natural. It's like calling someone with a prosthetic arm a robot. I didn't forget Heustess, because I never knew he existed in the first place. I've only ever played partway through Geneforge 1. I must know more about these "shades". Are they just ghosts, or are they actually shaped from essence?
