I had found and picked from the graymold patch long before I ever talked to anyone looking for it.

  3. I think you don't completely understand what Randomizer was talking about with the Quick Travel points. Most likely, you haven't played the Eschalon games, which I know Randomizer and I both recommend that you do. Anyway, the way Quick Travel points work in Eschalon is that, once you get to a town with a quick travel point and activate it (by touching it) you can travel back to that point from elsewhere in the game world (though there is a limit to how far you can go in one trip, so from Bargha to the Tower of Magi would be too far, unlike the portals as they're used in Avernum). You cannot travel when enemies are within a certain distance, or under certain other circumstances not relevant to Avernum.
  4. Or you could use right-click/control-click to USE an item rather than pick it up, but neither solution works for the iPad, so I wouldn't expect to see a change.

  6. I'll go kill off some more, but I'm pretty sure that the Nephil Encampment quest is for the group where you get the Nephil War Blade (or whatever it's called). EDIT: Oops, it was a different group, much closer to Cotra. heh. Where did I leave that dunce cap?

I'm not that sure they referred to wisdom crystals but I held them, you know, just in case. ... I am guessing that the crystals mentioned by the wizard are one of the many references, in this first Avernum, to the Vahnatai race. I do not believe they are mentioned by name in the first game, but they become a big part of the plot in the second game of the series. The Vahnatai elders become Crystal Souls and the Vahnatai are big on crystals, in general. Early in the game several people tell you about the crazy wizard, and that he left that crystal by a statue. When you find it, it's a Wisdom Crystal. I do believe there is one place in this game where the name Vahnatai appears, but I'd have to load a save with my experienced party to go double-check.
  8. That's pretty funny. I would think that could be easily fixed by not letting you get the reward until you'd officially taken the quest from the board. Not sure what's buggering up mine. I'm going to try restarting the machine and see if it picks up correctly then.
  9. Okay, I saw that a few people were having trouble with getting the reward for the Bandit Keep quest. Now I'm dealing with something a bit different. I'm trying some things out in a second play-through and got to wandering all over and not getting back to the quests in the Eastern Gallery for a while, though I had taken all the quests from the job boards. Now I just wandered by that Nephil encampment between Cotra and Fort Dranlon and wiped them out, but Paul, the Mayor's secretary, won't recognize that fact and give me my reward. Is it possible that I picked up too many quests between picking that one up and dealing with it?

If you ask Motrax about all this (sorry; can't remember the exact dialogue options, but it shouldn't take too long to go through them all), he'll tell you to search the site of an ancient battle. Drath won't be mentioned; he'll just say something about the Empire or the First Expedition. The place you need is an area in the outdoors which you can just walk into and get the key. Edit: these maps are for the original game, but they're still relevant. You can see where the key is in relation to Motrax pretty clearly: Note that if you wander into that ancient battlefield without the conversation with Motrax, you find nothing of interest.
  12. When Kyass gives you the quest, he does tell you that he's not sure if the mage is actually in the Abyss yet, but that he was being sent there.

  14. "Sage lore in one character works for the entire party." But it doesn't stack, correct? So more than one character with it doesn't lower by 3 levels for each?
  15. I think we've all done it. The problem is that if you turned potion drinking (or wand/scroll usage) into a two-step process by adding a confirmation of use, you'd get a whole lot more complaints about the extra mouse clicks. It just reminds us all to be careful where the cursor is when we go to pick things up in our inventories.
  16. I thought I'd been everywhere. Okay, I'll go look again. Ah, where did that come from? ;-)
  17. Okay, so I've killed the Slith leader and picked up the quest to kill Grah-Hoth from Micah, I've spoken to Rone, I have the Blessed Atheme, I've cleaned out Akenroth (or whatever it's called), I've even gone and killed Hawthorne and killed Sulfras and fought my way to the surface. But I still can't get past either of the gates into Grah-Hoth's realm. What gives?
  18. You can meet Khoth well before you meet Aydin. You don't need the quest to get his scroll to get into his lair or to get to the Dispel Barrier book.
  19. The "interesting" items are already picked up separately in the open-world battles where there's a particular item. I'm just talking about all the leather armor, and fine cloaks, and crude broadswords, and emeralds, and stuff that drop in the course of the fight. It's not particularly difficult to pick that stuff up, but the first few times you get into those fights you probably don't realize that you need to (or can) pick those things up before you exit the fight screen.

  21. They might both be kitties, but there's a big difference between nepharim and nephilim.
  22. One thing about money, particularly early on, is to remember to loot the battle fields before going back to peace when you have encounters out in the open world. Lots more stuff to sell that way. It can get tight, especially early on, though. It would be a nice change if it was possible for all non-zero value items dropped by dead enemies in a battle were automatically added to your junk bag. That might be difficult to program, though.
  23. It being an open exploration world, I actually found it that way long before I took on the giants and went through the gate to the Norther Isles, so "hadn't made it that far" is a tough judgement.
  24. Yeah, I just got a stack of Wisdom Crystals from the alchemist to try that out and noticed the message this time.
