  1. Quote: I though Grah-Hoth was too easy but I'm also very obsessed with grinding so everything was too easy.........except on Torment that was just sorta easy. Grah-Hoth is not too bad, but I don't like his mung demon friends
  2. I think Slarty has it right, although the revised War Trall would however then be just a "Battle Delta" and not a new creation type at all. But I suppose, the same could be said about fyora vs drayk.

You just have to accept that fights take a bit longer, that's all. Edit: I should add a qualifier that of course the GF/A4-5 engine is a different matter.

The message "this lock is too complicated" means that you cannot pick it. Not using mechanics, not using living tools, not using the unlock spell. You have to find the person, key or lever that unlocks it for you. In this case, the person who unlocks it is dead. Which leaves two options: (i) use the cheatcode I posted; or (ii) start the game again.

  6. You can't unlock that door, you need Drewry to open it for you. Shift+D then type exactly "sdf 21 21 1" (without the quotes).
  7. It's a character trait (disadvantage) giving a sizeable xp bonus but meaning your character is unable to attack anything, or cast any offensive magic (not even haste!).

  9. The pool is in the friendly spiders' place. See map below.
  10. X won't give you anything yet, however; he only rewards you for giants and golems. Solberg gives the magical rewards for slimes and roaches.
  11. I thought the Shaper Crypt was the hardest, and also my favourite. Being the first game in the series I didn't realise until later that it was supposed to be optional & the most difficult area in the game, so I kept on trying to do it when I first reached it. Playing as a Guardian my first time, it was truly torment. It is also has a far more interesting boss monster than all the sequels, although admittedly Danette is a bit wimpy compared to, say, the Titan.

Yes. Geneforge 3 & 4 show quite clearly the Drakons are prepared to go to any length to kill the Shapers. For example killing all the students in the greenwood academy, because they might be dangerous in the future. And of course, unleashing the Unbound.
  13. (Reply to my own post to avoid mangling of the active topics screen - the UBB was concatenating all the urls into one long string, for reasons best known to itself.)
  14. Have a look at Schrodinger's walkthroughs: http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/game/27348.html http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/game/37545.html http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/game/928999.html Somewhere near the top of each one is a list of the items you should hang on to, in each game.

  16. Yes, this is really a windows problem not a spiderweb one. Somewhere abouts there is a "repair icons" button. Now if I could only remember where... might be in TweakUI...
  17. Why on earth would you want to do that? Surely the whole point of the dry wastes is that there are no trees or water???
  18. Oh I forgot, unaligned is good too because you get to avoid pissing off any of the sects, plus you get to buy spells from Phariton.
  19. The Barzites are the best fun, score lots of canisters and megalomania and a cool picture at the ending. For the more high-minded afternoons, there's alsot the Awakened: very satisfying to play, plenty of rationality and nobility.
  20. Since you asked for spoilers: The barriers can only be brought down by quickfire. In Avernum trilogy the only way to generate quickfire is by using a phoenix egg. You can obtain one from Rentar-Ihrno, in return for recovering her tome. Rentar-Ihrno is in Egli.
  21. Assume you are talking about Avernum 1. There are six crystals to collect, and when you have them all, you go to a little cave hidden in the rocks north of Cotra. You use them to repair the cave and then it becomes a place you can go to heal and refresh periodically.
  22. This one is too good to resist. I'll go for... flubs.
  23. Only nearly crashed the computer? You're doing well. I have lost count of the number of times I've crashed/locked/frozen/erased a machine. Call me an incorrigible dabbler.
  24. Quote: Originally written by Janitorial Closet: Hmm. Why do so many of you hate G3? What is wrong with it? This has been discussed quite a lot; have a look in the archives. Basically the problem is lack of originality ( Jeff actually admitted he got about 10 zones in, realized "hang on, I'm writing the same damn game again" - and then carried on anyway). This, coupled with the truly irritating boat travel and the comparative lack of options when compared with Geneforge 2. Actually there were a few good things about Geneforge 3, and I still enjoy playing it on some levels. However the sheer repetitiveness of the plot makes it suffer in comparison with other spidweb games. Edit: added hyperlink.
