Spiderweb Scattergories

Rules: At the beginning of the round, a letter will be chosen by me. For each category, you may put down one answer (and one answer only) where the first letter of the first word begins with the chosen letter. For instance, if the letter for the round was i and one of the categories was "Things that are cold" you could put down iceberg or ice cream, but not both. You may not repeat an answer (or a slight variation on an answer) that someone else has already used, nor may you use the same answer for multiple categories (but you may use an answer that was listed by someone else as your answer for a different category). Articles (a, an, the) do not count as part of the answer.

At the end of the round, each answer is worth a point. The first answer posted within each category is worth 2 points, so act fast. The best word (chosen by me on the basis of creativity, insightfulness, and humor) will also be worth 2 points (or 3, if the best word is also the first one). The person with the most points at the end of the round wins.

The game was a good idea but the scoring was broken. Just reset all the scores to zero, send some goons to repossess Lilith's absolutely nothing, and try again.

i actually always assumed from the wording of the OP that the individual round scores would be reset every round, and the relevant long-term scoring statistic would be how many rounds each player won

tbh though i don't think this game works very well in a forum format, since even without the benefit of the first-answer bonus you still get the first posters taking all the good answers. it'd work better in a chatroom

It would work better if answers were PMed to Diki (or a rotating judge for each round) so that standard Scattergories scoring could apply. A chatroom allows you to institute a time limit, but the clever answers totally subjective bonus is an acceptable compromise and fully in the spirit of traditional Spiderweb silliness.

—Alorael, who isn't volunteering to judge. Yet. He's not paid enough for that.
