  1. As someone who generally clears the minefields by casting Essence Shield & then walking into the dumb things...my opinion my not be the greatest... I don't mind how it is now. On my computer at least the sparkles were very noticeable (or lack thereof I suppose). But I too also quicksave before setting them off just in case.
  2. Too late to help now, but with 18 save slots available, 'the' first thing I do when entering a new zone is save the game with the zone name. By the time you get through all 18 slots, you're probably far enough into the game that overwriting the first ones shouldn't be an issue (or you can, on Windows, go into your Documents, find the Spiderweb folder, & copy the save games into a new folder before starting to overwrite them - but that's probably more a beta test thing where you need to run back to check something - almost never used even then so overwrite away...)
  3. It's a very rare thing but if you trip while wandering around, because you're already leaning diagonally, your momentum can carry you right off the edge of the world & into the void... (only works in the far eastern zones & only when you're above ground. If you trip while in say, Holding Two, you're just going to smash your face into the wall) Jeff's kind of a sadistic jerk for having your character spend eternity falling into limbo, but whatcha gonna do? (I mean other than watching where you put your feet)
  4. Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator - Jeff's doing a crossover with Warner Brothers...
  5. I figured that they were like my spare set of truck keys hanging on the key holder over by the microwave...
  6. Doesn't the word 'isle' imply that there's more to the world than just one island? 😛 /leaving out the whole standing on a boat traveling between islands prologue thingie...
  7. For the kickstarter backers, if you'd rather have a GOG key instead of steam, if you write SW (support@spiderwebsoftware.com) they can set you up with one. Or they did for Queens Wish, I haven't asked about GF1M as I was able to download through Humble & they're just a tad busy this past week... (but eventually I'll probably ask for one as I'd rather keep my game library at GOG rather than Steam)
  8. Well, that's who/what you should have killed. Did you talk to Sessina before killing it? If not that might be the problem. Did you also talk to the servile & dryak in the other building after killing it? They're also interested in the cockatrice's death and then go talk to Sessina again. I don't know otherwise, sorry. (it's worked for me the assorted times I've been through there)
  9. What did you kill? Because if you've killed 'the' rogue of the area you should be getting different dialog options (trying not to spoil it if you haven't wandered back to where you need to go) /welcome btw
  10. In general, not to a major extent no. Areas with spawners generally (generally) don't spawn rogues unless you are in the immediate viewing area (for example Watchhill - you can slowly take out the thaads that are wandering around outside, run back to town to heal, & they won't be replaced. Once you get near the spawner they'll start getting pumped out). Some areas (Western Wastes for example) will be pumping out rogues as long as you're in the zone. I don't think they stick around if you run back to town, but they will start up again as soon as you return to the zone (such as say there are 5 clawbugs created on your first trip there. You kill three of the new creations before running away to heal. When you return you'll be starting from 'x' rogues & not 'x' + the two remaining from the previous five) Randomizer's list is accurate. However in places like the Ruined School, I cleared it early in the game & then went back later after going through The Tombs to talk to the mind. A couple of roamers showed up but they were so trivial by that point that I only got a couple of xp from them rather than the 10-20 earlier in the game. So if you're revisiting cleared zones later on, it shouldn't be a problem if anything did respawn.
  11. If you don't talk to the serviles in their southern camp (within the plains) before you attack the gate, you don't (obviously) get the option (with enough Leadership) to have them help you clear the gate. If you clear the gate (with or without talking to them) they will then make a break & run to the gates. The best way (xp wise) I found to do things was enter the zone, talk to the serviles & convince them to help, then 'do not' tell them to help you & go kill most of the rogue guards yourself. When there's only a couple of them left, go back & tell the serviles that it's time for them to help (and get the xp for that), then race ahead of them & kill the remaining rogues/guards so that the serviles don't get wiped out & make it into town. So yes, if you've cleared the gate, you won't be able to talk to the serviles as they've run into Pentil. If you talk to them & completely clear the gate, you'll probably clear the quest, but you won't get the xp for telling them to come help you.
  12. (type, type, type ... erase, erase, erase...) Something far too political/religious about zealots fleecing their flock(s)... /if I get a chance/remember later I'll dig out an old save game from when I was aligned with them & check
  13. It's supposed to be a surprise when it happens... (I think anyway - to discourage fingertip diarrhea just to get to the next level)
  14. *** As long as you aren't seen you can take anything not nailed down (& some of those if you can find the crowbar with +2 stealth) Generally a good idea is to quicksave before stealing anything. In the inventory box down in the lower left will be a message letting you know if anyone saw you take their stuff. Some places you can get away with taking a few things, others will immediately attack you. No impact on reputation (if nobody sees you, perhaps if they turn hostile & attack). No angry posse looking to string you up the next time you wander into town. It's a very forgiving society really...
  15. (so I guess accurate numbering isn't going to be a thing? ... alas... anyway...) 20. If you bump into an essence pool - stick Essence Shield on everyone & if you don't clear the zone before it wears off, wander back & redo it

    Cant Buy Games

Spiderweb is literally a mom & pop organization (two people). They tend to release games about once a year. You managed to call them a day or three before the release of the latest game ... (which is what I was assuming, given the lack of information, that you were trying to buy earlier in the week as there are a LOT of people around here right now who just bought the game yesterday) they probably were a tad distracted at that point in time. Email them at support@spiderwebsoftware.com & explain what's going on & they'll get back to you. Nobody was saying that it's your fault, just trying to figure out what exactly was going on as it wasn't clear (& still completely isn't..._)
  17. It's been a while since I've played QW so I forgot that point. But even so, even one slot on the top bows would have been appreciated just to think you were doing something. Chatting with Jeff during beta testing at the time, iirc he sort of agreed with me but didn't want to mess with balance issues as things were getting fairly solid/good at that point. So personally, moving forward I'd rather that augments be slightly less powerful but there are slots eventually available in every item category.

    Cant Buy Games

The game was only released yesterday so attempts to buy it before that probably were doomed to failure (I was a kickstarter backer so I haven't looked into buying the game now). Where are you trying to buy it from? You mention Humble but I think (think, no real idea on the behind the scenes stuff) that Humble was only used to distribute the Kickstarter keys to people for Steam access. You should be able to buy it through Steam, GOG, Epic (I think Jeff mentioned them), or straight from SW's site.
  19. My biggest issue with the bows was that they were pretty much the 'only' item in the game that couldn't be augmented, not even the top level bows. As usually a ranged type of player, it was annoying to be able to improve everything 'but' my main weapon. Variety would be cool but that's mainly esthetics as how powerful 'x' is is determined by how much damage Jeff wants it to deal out. It really doesn't matter to me if it looks like a bow/crossbow/or some sort of throwing weapon. (I'm assuming here that the 'skill' trees will be generally the same (divided into combat, magic, etc) and not like in other RPGs where you build up your strength, dex, etc where the type of ranged weapon depends on like in Avernum, your bow or thrown skills) 1. No disagreement there. You're the overseer & should be expected to have good equipment, but that's not to say that the locals shouldn't have developed good items that deal specifically with their situation. 3. Agree with the extra augmentation slots. Perhaps not as many as a similar level sword/shield combo but perhaps 80ish% of those slots. 4. Do away with them or have every encounter drop 'something'. Generally gold but extra supplies (drop perhaps weighted 4:1 for that area's supply item (but you'd have a 1:4 chance of getting a block or two of stone while up in the swamps)) also. The no xp is fine (as you are supposed to be focused on the strategic level thinking rather than out grinding out a level). But with no wandering monsters it gives the illusion that things are much more pacified than they really are. 5. No argument there, more info is generally better for planning purposes (to a point to be sure, most players don't want pages of calculations showing how 'x' was decided, but a simple 'these things are impacting your income', especially those things that you can do something about it)
  20. Shadowwalker came at 450ish, Shaman was before that & not sure when I 'graduated' to that one or from what. Looking at the other thread I was just in "Monitor" is somewhere in the 200-225 (at least) range Or just make them across all the games so there are a LOT of titles to earn if one cares about such things. (Don't forget Nethergate, I've always wanted to eventually be a Centurion...)
  21. Who says I'm not (veteran) : - P (old school, none of this enforced smilie faces for me...) /of course I do have the benefit of this being my fourth full run through the game & know where not to take my gang at first...
  22. Yeah, it's been around a while & in all my decades of playing/replaying SW games I've never seen it. So if you haven't run into it, don't stress out about it as you, probably, won't see it. That said, you've got 20 (?ish) save slots, use them. Every time I enter a new zone I safe immediately with the name of that zone, and then use quick save throughout the zone (or if there's a major decision point, save again). Worst case I have to restart the zone. By the time you have used up all the slots, you're far enough into the game that it's no big deal to overwrite the earlier ones as you probably wouldn't want to replay all those hours anyway (or if you're 'really' worried, you can always go to the SW folder in 'Documents' (Windows anyway) & copy all those save files somewhere & label them as 'early game' or 1st 20 or some such coding system. And then 5 years from now you'll be cleaning up files/folders & wonder just why you did that way back when ... but I digress...)
  23. Honestly, in most mine fields I tend to just walk up next to them (even the big ones...one at a time) & then heal if needed. Most seem to only do at most a couple dozen points in damage & I can deal with that (provided there's no wandering critters about to put me into a fight). If you have creations, combat works best to keep them shielded/away from the blast area. Or if they get killed, go back to town and make some more (as apparently it's morally 'correct' to think of your companions in this game as disposable...). Once you get it, Essence Shield works great at absorbing a lot of damage (not just mines but there too). Cast it on yourself, walk into the mines, heal if needed, recast ES, & keep on plowing through. Go back to town after to recharge yourself (as there is no day counter/time limitations...why not game the game). And Nicolai, welcome. Over near the front door is a box to place your sanity in. Don't worry, once you hang out with us reprobates for a while you'll see that sanity is a handicap rather than a benefit around here...
  24. I have a confession to make. Throughout all the six versions/chapters this is the first time I have 'ever' played as a Shaper. Just never wanted to because of similar mental reservations. Generally I'd play as an Agent who would 'very' rarely shape a meat shield for some really tough fight. Even when beta testing, the first two run throughs were as an Agent (love the 'didn't bother to create anything' medal - earned it both times (different difficulty levels), third as a Guardian, and finally this last one as a Shaper. First thought as a Shaper... "Holy crap this is easy... maybe I should have done this before" Anyway, we now return you to your regularly scheduled thread... (it's kind of funny too that I'd have reservations here about building a squad to help me survive & yet, in say Grim Dawn, I have zero problems mowing down 'everything' outside of the safe zones/cities. Thousands & thousands of beings being blown up/incinerated/poisoned/etc ... nah, we're good...)
  25. There are a couple places in the game where there's a popup/part of a conversation where you realize that the changes are happening/driving you into a rage, but other than that there seems to be no impact to gameplay/choices (like in later chapters in the series). There is one ... er ... 'canister' very, very late in the game, that if you use it will change how others react to you. Other than that particular one though, go wild if you want.
