  2. I never used it in G5, but if I remember correctly from G4 (that battle alpha drops one early game?), it will always do a stun effect, if you hit the enemy. However, this is only useful if you can provide enough extra stunning (e.g. ensnaring crystal, creation with stun attack (vlish had this some point?). Otherwise, they will still have enough action points to perform an attack. I remember that flaming sword was the weakest of the elemental swords on all games that had it. I would go with whichever does more damage, and probably flaming if you aren't a melee intensive character.
  3. Not sure if it has been changed since, but for Geneforge 1, look at this topic: http://www.spiderwebforums.com/forum/ubb...true#Post207548
  4. Hmm, I think I remember hearing that it adds another die to the roll. Can't say much about it myself, maybe someone else posting would like to elaborate. This method also treats positive and negative values symmetrically, and therefore is free of overall bias if the original numbers are positive or negative with equal probability. In addition, for most reasonable distributions of y values, the expected (average) value of the rounded numbers is essentially the same as that of the original numbers, even if the latter are all positive (or all negative). However, this rule will still introduce a positive bias for even numbers (including zero), and a negative bias for the odd ones. This variant of the round-to-nearest method is also called unbiased rounding (ambiguously, and a bit abusively), convergent rounding, statistician's rounding, Dutch rounding, Gaussian rounding, or bankers' rounding. This is widely used in bookkeeping. It is the default rounding mode used in IEEE 754 computing functions and operators (and in various computing languages such as ANSI/ISO C, C++, and Java, for their float and double types). What do you know, 22.5 was an example in the wikipedia definition. As it says computing languages use it, that may be the case here.
  5. Highly unlikely, but if he used scientific rounding (22.5 rounds to 22) it would work.
  6. I was going to post the base HP, energy and essence for each class from my G2 scripts, except that I'm afraid I might have edited them some time ago. Instead, looking to the walkthrough by Matt P. for G2, I found this: Guardian: HP (Hit Points)- 24 + 5/8 * End * (Level + 1) SP (Spell Points)- 6 + 1/2 * Int * (Level + 1) EP (Essence Points)- 6 + 3/4 * Int * (Level + 1) Agent: HP- 20 + 1/2 * End * (Level + 1) SP- 6 + 3/2 * Int * (Level + 1) EP- 6 + 3/4 * Int * (Level + 1) Shaper: HP- 12 + 3/8 * End * (Level + 1) SP- 6 + Int * (Level + 1) EP- 6 + Int * (Level + 1) This means for shaper as an example, their base HP is 12. Then for additional HP, the formula is 3/8 multiplied by your endurance, then multiplied by one plus your character's level. As you can see, the different classes start with different amounts and increase by different amounts. This goes along with their skills, such as high Essence for shapers. Hope that was useful.
  7. You don't have to keep everything in your inventory. I remember one of the anvils had a few nice nearby spots to store stuff in. Moving that stuff to a different anvil is another story. Adding enhancements is always somewhat helpful, as long as you save your best armor, (depending how far you are in the game) for the better enhancement items, such as golden crystals. Artifacts, the uber items you can create with rare ingredients, are always useful to create. If you are a spellcaster, the firesteel gauntlets will be extremely helpful if I remember right. Just remember there isn't enough ingredients to craft every artifact. Crafting info can be found in strategy central, or try this link: http://www.spiderwebforums.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=117179
  8. The soonest place to learn create drayk is not far past the secret tunnel (if you have gotten there yet), but it is for loyalists only. After that, you will have to wait a while i think. If you create creations at the beginning and plan on keeping them, I would probably make cryoas. You can get them by purchasing 2 points in create fyora from the drypeak shaping teacher (you must do this first), and then reading his book in the room past the battle alphas (you may need a living tool or two). If you don't plan on making more creations, its logical to not bump up shaping skills after you create them. However, you may find lower tier creations dying on you, and you may want to bump up those skills if you want to replace them with something more powerful. If you want to keep those creations alive, put some points into healing craft and blessing magic.
  9. Technically you can create them if you replace battle alphas/betas with gammas in the game scripts. That does have the unfortunate side effect of every single one of them in the whole game to become gammas too though.
  10. No, you can't kill them. Litalia needs them to vote to do something (don't want to spoil anything).
  11. This is all I could find for Geneforge 1: Quote: Influences your accuracy and damage done by missile weapons. Quote: Actually in GF1 missle weapons skills are supposed and do add damage with crystals. I raised the damage for Icy Crystal from around 40 to near 100 by going from 3 to 10 in missle weapons. Swarm crystals went to near 200 It helps, if that what you want to invest points in. I don't think its that useful though. I recommend boosting melee skill instead, if you are not a magic intensive character. All I found for Geneforge 2 was: Quote: Wands and crystals also use this skill to determine their to hit% No mention that it increases damage too., so probably isn't worth it just to boost crystals and wands. For Geneforge 3: Quote: Increases your to hit% and damage with missile weapons- batons, javelins, wands and crystals. Also: Quote: But it was not until G3 that dexterity applied damage to your missiles. The dexterity + missile skill damage = crazy insane damage. Geneforge 3 was probably the best game to invest in missile skill, as cystals and wands are already stronger with dexterity. For Geneforge 4: Dexterity now only affects "your to hit % with missile weapons", not damage. Quote: Determines the damage and to hit % for missile weapons. For Geneforge 5: Quote: The second is a missle fighter that emphasizes dexterity and missle weapon skills. You do less damage, Quote: I never got to run a dedicated missle character past the North Mera Road fight with Koski. At missle weapons 10 and dexterity 8, I was still doing less damage than with my sword that had original melee weapons and strength for the armor I was wearing. It seems that missile is not a good approach in Geneforge 5. In short, if you want a missile focused character, try it on geneforge 3. It can be effective on some of the other games, but it is generally less effective than some other approaches. Sorry that I wasn't able to find any formulas that tell specifically what effect raising your skill will have. Maybe if you have the time, you can record some data and post your results here.
  12. Still might be a good idea to go solo at first, then make creations when you need them, so you can get the additional xp before you will need to use that killing power.
  13. http://inf1.altervista.org/phptrack/track.php?file=z42dhonaldlg.txt After a little search I think this is what you are looking for. Someone just needs to update the post.
  14. Cool, i got Slarty to make a post with not value toward the topic. It happens to be a blue version of the Razer logo, a gaming gear company. I liked the look. I don't remember a reference to the Sholai ever knowing magic.
  15. Quote: -Question one: What is magic? How is it made? Any speculation? _Question two: Is there any description in the game that describes how essence works? -Question three: We all know that essence is the current equivalent of the primordial ooze from which we all descended. Knowing that essence reacts to air like the primordial soup did to a oxygen "rich" atmosphere, how come essence doesn't burn when tampered with? Magic is using a person's willpower to use the arcane energies existent throughout the universe to do something. At least that is my guess. There are different sects of magic users throughout the geneforge universe, the shapers is just the most prominent. Essence is created by shapers out of raw materials. There is a fan-fic here somewhere that involves shaping using blood (haven't read any of it in forever, still need to find out what happens) which is possible, due to the fact that early shapers shaped the insides living beings in order to kill them (and it usually worked). Essence could be similar in some way to blood, or whatever humans are made of. It is possible that many different substances are capable to shape with.

  17. Hold shift and press D. You will get a box asking what you want. Type the cheats there.
  18. The obelisk in bandit woods is for items. There is no items generator for the G2 editor.
  19. I remember on my first playthrough, I tried going from awakened to takers. After giving up on that gazer, I thought "Wow, these clawbugs are easy. Maybe I am supposed to go to Barzite lands first?"
  20. What enemies exactly are you fighting? If you have 1 AP, you probably got hit by a glaahk. You should normally have 8, and you can get more with AP boosting armor (such as quicksilver, or emerald chestguard) or speed pods and such. Rotgroths have parry, so they are a bit harder to hit. If you get your melee skill up, you should be able to hit a lot. Or you can get very high parry and kill them while they attack.

  22. Those codes are included in the official code list. The ones in this topic aren't.
  23. I've always used exitzone to change zones most of the time, and somehow never ended up having problems like most people.
  24. Just going ahead and putting it in the topic. And it is rechargeme, not restoreme. The entire list of cheats for G4: whereami - Shows your location coordinates. showmeall - Displays all characters dots on map. dontshowmeall - Disables showmeall. shieldsup - Blesses, shields, and hastens your group. rechargeme - Recharges your essence and energy. healmenow - Restores your health. pleaselikeme - Areas forget your crimes. iamweak - Gives you experience depending on your level (Less experience for higher level). iampoor - Additional 500 coins. giveasnack - Gives you a cake. exitzone - Leaves the zone, or returns you to southforge if used in a dungeon. Note: This cheat can cause problems, try to use sparingly. clearthisarea - Clears the area to green. dbugkill - Kills all enemies.
  25. You have to replace some things in the g#floorster file. Taken from the A5 strategy central: Replace "tr_blockage_type1 = 2" with "tr_blockage_type1 = 0". Replace "tr_blockage_type1 = 3" with "tr_blockage_type1 = 0". Replace "tr_blockage_type2 = 3" with "tr_blockage_type2 = 0".
