  1. The G1 walkthrough by Matt P has a section on the different skills. Looking at the luck skill, I found this in it: Quote: Each point of luck increases the chance to hit by 1%, and the chance to dodge by 1%. It may also affects some resistances. Every 2 points of luck increases armor by 1, and monsters may also drop items more frequently (both hints are from Scales on the Spiderweb message boards). Throughout the games I think there are few (very few) special situations where luck comes in handy, though I can't think of any right now. Wait, yes I can, but that is on G2, the golem bridge, I think you can get a lucky guess on the password with enough luck.
  2. Less creations = faster experience, that is the advantage of not using creations. However, This doesn't necessarily mean more. Geneforge 1 had a level cap of 31, instead of the 61 of later games. This means you wont have much more skill points to spend on yourself than a creation user would during late game. So not easier. I guess difficulty for this would be greatly affected by the game's difficulty setting. You can do it on easy, as someone has beaten the game without using a canister. I think all (if not a very huge majority) of the ways to learn creations come from canisters in G1. Torment? I don't think you would take many hits before you fall. I don't know what the hardest difficulty this is playable at, as I have never tried it. I doubt anyone here has really, so try for yourself instead of asking, and tell us the result.
  3. Really? This was an awesome game for me, I never had any problems. One of my favorite SW software games. What difficulty are you playing on - nvm, normal. When I first played it on easy, though I wasn't an agent, I thought the game was that: easy, but still exiting because of all the different types of fights in the game. Going back to normal, I never noticed difficulty with the game. You are playing as an agent? Try these tricks. Use a few thahds with high endurance as meat shields. Let them take the hits while you deliver them. Secondly, get lots of parry. With high parry, not only will you parry lots of missle and melee attacks, but you will riposte those battle alphas to death with no problem. Once you have high parry, you wont need meat shields so much, and can focus on the damage power of your creations. You shouldn't have problems with the later geneforges, as lots of problems have been fixed. It also becomes easier to make a less combat focused character.

  6. Agreed, zones = easier travel.
  7. Have fighters take damage. Use priest for healing and repel spirit. Mages can use fire spells on it. Make sure it attacks the fighters and keep their HP up. Not sure how long you should wait before killing it, or at which level you should do so.
  8. put reward_give(296); in any piece of dialogue, and you will get it when you enter that piece of dialogue. It should be there, in a container in one of the spawns if I remember correctly, but that is just off of long gone memory. Maybe I am thinking of the other barrier...
  9. Quote: The way you get chosen in A3 is flimsy, but it always amused me, so I'll give it a pass. This is a TREE!!! What does it do??? Would love to see lots of humor in this coming game.
  10. 2. If I remember correctly, only one of them will receive the damage boost.
  11. Jeff said it is based on the Geneforge engine, so it will probably be zones, but that's just a guess.
  12. I has already been noted that shaper is one of the strongest classes in this game. But, this game is based on the fact that shaping is a very powerful thing. Like you said, every class can benefit from shaping. Agents for example, were never very good at shaping, but players often shape meatshields while the agent does all the pummeling. Having high mechanics ASAP? You can always go back and open locked boxes and stuff later, although it does help with encounters that you can't go back to, the battle against the presence fyora for example. Its your choice if you want to spend on mechanics, or do the fighting directly. I've heard runed amethysts on the Viper's Touch (was that the name of that poisoned sword?) is very nice, due to it causing poison and acid damage every round, although I still think I haven't tried that yet. Just be careful. If you need acid from artillas and your sword to do damage, fights against acid resistant enemies will be though for you. My favorite class for this game is probably shaper, so I can have my creations pummel the enemy and take hits for me, while I heal and support with magic.
  13. Can you be more specific on the zone you are in?
  14. Can't wait! I just want to say, those fights with a single though enemy are the best, keep those. Fighting the same weak enemies over and over can get boring on some games. Also, I would love to see more of that stuff like the area above fort saffron on A6; that was very enjoyable and I think someone made a whole topic about how fun that fight was.

    1. Go to the game's location on your hard drive (For example, mine for A6 is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Spiderweb Software\Avernum 6". 2. Look for a folder named "data" or "[Game Name] Files" and open it. 3. Look around for the graphics.
  16. I would like to confirm that when using the "gold" with 120 coins, I get 25163 every time, so it isn't random? After using iampoor i go from 25163 to 30000, so something odd is going on. EDIT: Sorry about my image size...
  17. I would like to confirm that these do work on Windows: weaponsgalore itemgalore gold Gold gave me around 25000 coins first, then I did iampoor giving me 30000. Then i did gold again getting around -1000 gold. I could not provide a screenshot because I think windows 7 doesn't let me use "Prt Scr" on games. I think I am using an older version of the game, if you need to know. EDIT: The gold does seem to give random gold. Also, I downloaded Fraps and took a screenshot: Click to reveal..
  18. Quick search through the walkthrough says there is one is Malaga's closet (the guy in Dhonal's keep who has you inspect a servile).
  19. Characters level up at different rates based on their race and chosen traits. Also, if I remember correctly, the character who kills the enemy gains a majority of the experience. I might just be making that last part up though.
  20. Try looking at the Strategy Central topic. http://www.spiderwebforums.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=188639#Post188639 It links to this topic, which shows all of the crafting recipes. Note that there is another topic which shows collection quests. http://www.spiderwebforums.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=189448#Post189448 Have fun!
  21. Please note that this editor is unofficial. Make sure to read the whole page. Back up all of your scripts first! You may want to back up your saves too because it says it is messed up a little. http://www.spiderwebforums.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=197006#Post197006
  22. You are going to end up with lots of crazy stuff with that line. English - Japanese Japanese - English English - Korean Korean - English Quote: To the line of 9 beans the honeybee which decides there is that place which with independence the honeycomb for the honeybee of low price and the honey in common knowledge of the noisy camping ground, lives.
  23. English to Japanese Japanese to English English to Russian Russian to English English to Korean Korean to English Quote: First, it wraps barely; And about second time don' Justice word; It has; From the majority which has the letter which is amicable [predusmatriva] the panic t which is recorded. A bit cleaner? Quote: First, it wraps barely; And about second time don Justice word; It has; From the majority which has the letter which is amicable predusmatriva the panic which is recorded.
  24. Just bring up the creation screen, and press OK without selecting a creature.
  25. I would just modify the dialogue script for an area with few talk nodes such as Fort Emerald and add options to decrease skill levels.
