Clois does say she thinks serviles are shaped humans, but she's not sure. However, I don't think there's anything about battle alphas or betas being shaped from humans. It's certainly a reasonable conclusion to draw given their physical form, but I ran several searches of the G1 dump, including for "battle alpha" and "human" and found nothing linking the two. While I never got this far in GF1, here is my understanding from reading these threads: Original creations, the oldest ones, that is, started out as modified creations. Since that's how shaping started, if I recall correctly, it makes sense that the first creations were based very tightly on animals. However, modern creations, including serviles, resemble animals/humans, but are not made directly from them. That is, one can shape a servile is one knows how, and it doesn't require a human sacrifice (just image servile reproduction ceremonies if that were the case!) As for the lack of "normal" animals, jeff just didn't bother putting in animals besides giant rats.
  2. I noticed this bug too, just the difficulty one, I didn't try it when I was doing stoneworks an hour or two ago.

If you think about that and look at the creatures you might notice that alot of creatures where made from humans (serviles and all battle creatures beside the bugs). Wow sounds really good. whoa there buddy, I, in all my years of playing and reading forums, have never heard this. As I said earlier, it always says Shapers have the power to create life. Resemblance to animals is just the result of making things they are already familiar with.
  4. First: its hard to argue *ahem* i mean discuss when not all people have finished the game. Also, don't guess about histories unless you have played all of the games. Now then, to the Trakovites: Shaping is a reality. Closing your eyes and clicking your heels isn't going to make it suddenly go *poof*. Learn to live in the world you live in. To the rebels: while I agree that the Shapers have made many stupid mistakes, they still have done great good in the world. Think of all the times when you enter what would be an inhospitable land and see shaped plants thriving, allowing for sustainable life. Yes, the Shapers need to change, but lets look at the rebels: In the drakon ending, the drakon are worse than the Shapers and the human rebellion crushes them. Also, in regards to less restriction on shaping, look at Monarch. Some people use him as an example of Shaper failure. However, if it were not for the war, he would have been removed much sooner. First off, his creations mindlessly destroyed a large chuck of the continent. Second, when he lost control, the creations destroyed him. Creations are living, and must be treated as such, but not all of them are true equals. How would you like your mayor to be a fyora? Intelligent creations should be allowed to live peacefully, but, as with any living thing, when it threatens the human race in any way, it must be dealt with.
  5. Lets face it, creations are living. Assuming that creations have some form of hereditary genetic coding (and are fertile), they then have the potential to evolve. Seeing as how humans evolved from ancient pre-apes, its plausible that creatures could follow similar paths, especially when they are so infused with magic.
  6. Yes. Play the game and follow Ghaldring, that's what happens.
  7. Most definitely an interesting point (about the Garden). As for the creations: Many shapers do feel a responsibility towards their creations, viewing them as their "children".
  8. You can still convince the thahd to go kill the combat thahd after you've killed it? I must do this!!! I always go through and do the mech/stealth first for the reward and then revisit. The roamers do take a bit of patience and clever positioning so you can see them and they don't see you. (queue quicksave)
  9. Hm, I always get tons of exp from this. Ever since I read about clawbugs from DV, i always run there right away, so im still in the single digits.
  10. I don't think the distinction between creations and life is black and white. It says in many places in all 5 games that Shapers have the power to create life. The majority of people agree that life is precious and should not be treated with disregard. That said, I still think that while the Shaper (not just Taygen) are more ethical and morally just than the rebels, they are certainly not angels.
  11. Not quite that simple. However, I would say that Taygen is on the line between true Shaper and extremist. When your own kind begin to treat you as an outcast, you begin to hmmmm become, what's the word. Oh yes, an outcast.
  12. Seems to be accurate, in a nutshell. Again, people must make the distinction between taygen and shapers
  13. Taygen is not a good example of a Shaper. Note how most major players in the game are against what he does. I believe that both Rawal and Alwan send you to sabotage his work. By all means, disagree with the Shapers, but just don't use Taygen as the classic example.
  14. Good point. That would explain his relatively large knowledge of canisters as well as his ability to create a working, albeit weak, geneforge. It also explains how he first came in contact with you. The final remaining mystery is who you were before the shaping. My guess would be a rebel recruit, based on Greta's knowledge of you. My explanation of Alwan's recognizing you is this: He sees someone who has been extensively shaped, and, in his current state, connects you to the PC from GF4.
  15. I think you're confusing ethical and moral. Ethics (in this context) have more to do with your "modus operandi" (i just love that term), while morals have to do with what you personally believe is right. Everyone in the game, just as people do in real life, try to follow their morals to the best of their ability. Now with ethics, its hard to say that the Shapers are unethical. While you may disagree with their morals, they do stick to them and try to benefit the world. As shown in a number of the endings, even Alwan shows sympathy in letting the rebels live on the Ashen Isles. Personally, I find Astoria's ethics to be similar, although less so, to Rawal's. She stabs her society in the back. While she believes she is helping, she is taking the fate of the Shaper society into her own hands and gambling it all on the murderous, vengeful leaders of the Drakon rebellion.
  16. She is in one of the houses in the northern corner of the town. If she absolutely isn't there and you never killed her, then I have no clue what to say, it's never happened to me.
  17. My only recommendation after dropping the res is getting some glasses, I have never had trouble with the reading.
  18. not all three i would focus on battle, with enough into either magic or fire to get a wingbolt kyshakk
  19. strategy central has all the base stats and formulas for essence, SE, and life. leadership and mech: leadership is generally about say 14 and mech about 16 str is only for using items. you really want to pump your shaping skills early so that you can get high level creations and then pump intell, placing into str and life as needed, along with leadership and mech nooo battle shaping is great! i generally find a few point into either fire or magic great to get kyshakks or wingbolts
  20. I never have trouble unlocking the doors, I would just add a few more mech points.
