  1. It's funny that your adventurers don't stop collecting body parts until the quest is completed, even if the appropriate number has been reached. Why does my party need five mottled bat wings when Lark only wants three? Dikiyoba.
  2. As the original, it gets rated higher than the sequels just because it is different from everything that came before it and is very inventive as well. It has fewer features than the later games, but I actually prefer fewer features (to a point). The option to use the Geneforge is a huge advantage over the other games. It was fun and I'm still trying new strategies. I'm still trying to figure out what Jeff was planning for that nest in Pentil Woods, though. Overall, Dikiyoba gives it a respectable 8.5.
  3. Good, but not outstanding. I'll give it an 7.5, since I don't buy anything under a 7.0. It was good to see a sequel and great to see the Awakened with more power than just a good vision. Interestingly, Dikiyoba noticed that several serviles change from female to male between G1 and G2.

  5. Thanks for the tip. It should help in my next party of custom spell-casters, but wouldn't have helped much with the pre-made party, since only one could cast bolt of fire anyway. Dikiyoba.
  6. And what reason did you have to bring back this topic? Dikiyoba.
  7. If you have a creation, you cannot gain back the essence used to create it until the creation dies. Dikiyoba.
  8. Shades are much more fun in Avernum 4 than they are in Geneforge, even though they share the same graphic. They're vulnerable to repel spirit in Avernum 4. Dikiyoba was so conditioned by the irritating shades that appear so early in G2 that Dikiyoba's party was ready to flee if things went bad. Then Dikiyoba's party discovered how easy they were.
  9. I replaced one of the slith portraits that I didn't like with one from A2 that I did. Luckily for Dikiyoba, Dikiyoba liked both nephil graphics and the other slith graphic.
  10. Or just make it your goal to loot every cache and dispel every barrier. Dikiyoba.
  11. Or just make it your goal to loot every cache and dispel every barrier. Dikiyoba.
  12. You can only buy two levels of any skill from a trainer if you haven't used a canister or used skill points to increase the level. The original skills and minor heal and create fyora can be trained twice, since you start with them. This means create fyora can reach level four in Drypeak Warrens. Dikiyoba.
  13. The mage (sorry, I can't check the name at the moment) in Drypeak Warrens also has money but doesn't buy items. It's slightly annoying, but can easily be fixed if one chooses to do so. Dikiyoba.
  14. Dikiyoba would like batons a lot more if they automatically reloaded.
  15. Sorry, I don't have the hintbook, so my information is incomplete. While on the topic of illogical and logical, Dikiyoba only wishes Dikiyoba knew what Jeff was planning for the nest in Pentil woods of G1...
  16. And does "logical" here mean "logical, because the game is realistic" or "logical, because it's easier for people to complete the quest?" Dikiyoba.
  17. The part of Grissom will be played by a Giant Intelligent Friendly Talking Spider. Dikiyoba.
  18. The part of Grissom will be played by a Giant Intelligent Friendly Talking Spider. Dikiyoba.
  19. I'd rather have preset encounters than random percentages when dealing with direct canister effects. It seems like preset encounters would be easier to incorporate into the storyline, as well. Dikiyoba.
  20. You're doing fine, Thralni. Usually, when I run into errors that I can't fix through rereading the script or checking the docs, I go away for a while. Then I come back and realize what I goofed up on. The funniest mistake I've made so far was while trying to create a cutscene featuring a magical barrier. I typed erase_text_barriers(); instead of erase_text_bubbles();. Dikiyoba.
  21. I remember using the "back to start" command after completing the demo of A2 as far as possible just to see what was beyond the barriers while waiting for the registration key. That one additional outdoor section my party could travel around (though I couldn't enter any towns) was fascinating. Dikiyoba.
  22. Don't forget the "Is this a bug? Did I do something wrong? How can I fix it?" questions. Dikiyoba liked the long debates on strategy when A4 first came out. That's what Dikiyoba reads the walkthroughs for: to find out how others play the game.
  23. Still working on the "check docs, then ask questions" part, Thralni? Dikiyoba.
  24. Well, I never said how many posts I create in a day. On weekends, I come here three or four times in a day. Incidentally, these types of conversations are excellent for increasing Dikiyoba's post count. Edit: Spelling.
  25. Dikiyoba has never double-posted, created a post solely of quotes or graemlins, started a topic, or deleted any posts. Unless posting every day counts as cheating, Dikiyoba doesn't cheat.
