  1. Dikiyoba isn't old enough to drink legally, so you can keep it. Besides, it would probably taste like mushrooms, if it comes from Avernum.
  2. Yes, it's possible. Hold down the shift key and click on the items. Then you'll be asked how many you want to move. Dikiyoba.
  3. The archers aren't that difficult if you have a few missile weapons and someone who can cast minor heal. Dikiyoba recommends taking the archers out one at a time. Dikiyoba does not recommend charging forward mindlessly.
  4. Originally by Old Scratch: Quote: As with the number of licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop, the world may never know. Actually, I've heard that someone did an experiment to discover the secret of Tootsie Pops, but I forget how many licks they came up with. Dikiyoba did that once. It's zero. Just stick it in your mouth and keep it there until it dissolves and you've never truly licked it at all.
  5. You just said "most boring spell and monster." That can be taken many, many ways. Besides, more general questions can get a better response. Dikiyoba.
  6. An item that increases your shaping skill (and so a creation's initial level) can be put on just to shape the creation and can then be taken off. On the other hand, an item that improves a creation's statistic, like strength, needs to be worn in order for the creation to be affected. Dikiyoba.
  7. There's sure a lot of picky grammer people on these boards! (Yes, both mistakes are intentional.) Dikiyoba didn't even know you could contract "there are" into "there're." It just doesn't sound or look right. Edit: There was no typo here. Really.
  8. Dikiyoba is reasonably sure that Slartucker and other people have tested damage, defense, hardiness, and every other thing in the game. Differing results and conclusions are to be expected. Studies that don't match up with other studies are everywhere.
  9. Well, I never found it useful. My party blesses/hastes/shields itself before going around every unexplored corner. (And then they go wander outside for a while after going around several unexplored corners.) I don't use it. Then again, I don't use exactly half of the spells in the game. Repel spirit (level 3) is probably one of Dikiyoba's favorite spells. With it, haste (level 3), and a good line-of-sight, Dikiyoba's party can hit anything undead eight times in a single round.
  10. Dikiyoba likes it too. Perhaps Dikiyoba will see the adventurers in the next section?
  11. Well, you did it. You tell Dikiyoba.
  12. In A2, Bind Foe at level 2. What's the point of putting something to sleep if attacking it will just wake it up? Bind Foe at level 1 was more effective for me. Of course, Sanctuary was a pretty useless spell as well. Dikiyoba is still thinking about the most boring monster part. Ogres in A2, maybe?
  13. Solberg's Tower is a challenging place for Chapter 1 parties. The fire lizards there can be a tough battle as well. Dikiyoba.
  14. Whenever I hit the limit, I just make note of it and use the character editor to set my coins down to zero. Then if I ever need money, I edit some of it back. Dikiyoba calls it the First Avernum Bank.
  15. No one has mentioned anything about how important characters are. Obviously, this story is about the characters, since we all know the plot. I want to be introduced to the main characters over the course of the next few chapters. Who are they? Where are they from? Why are they together? How do they interact? That sort of stuff. Quite frankly, little bit of philosophical musings in the prologue doesn't hurt in this case. It's not overly complex or absurd and it tells you a lot about Erika Redmark. Dikiyoba.
  16. The adventurers could always be "meat." Dikiyoba.
  17. Very little is there, obviously. What is there is extremely well-written and intriguing. So, I guess I'm part of the active audience. You don't need to fear rotten tomatoes. Great. Now Dikiyoba has to figure out what to do with all the rotten tomatoes.
  18. 2 (To) Dastal, etc. Dikiyoba thinks homophones aren't fun unless being used as a pun.
  19. The PDN could be lived with if the location and sig weren't almost identical as well. Tyranicus, I'm noticing that you tend to point these sorts of things out first. In other news today, Dikiyoba's party finally made it to Fort Draco. Hooray! It only took them a week.
  20. I suppose it would be interesting to see how some of the first Avernites survive in Avernum, before there was a king and a government and before the wizards had worked all their magic. I'm not exactly sure what it would entail or how feasible it would be, but it is an interesting idea. Dikiyoba.
  21. Well, A4 has different boats finally, right? Hopefully, it will carry over to G4. Dikiyoba.
  22. Edit: Never mind. Missed a line in the above post that made this post completely redundant. Now, to make something up so this post isn't totally worthless. Dikiyoba wonders why the goblin in the start-up screen is green while the goblin graphics in the game are tan.
  23. You could always reward experience for completing the "quests." Maybe not a lot, but some. I'm sure there is some way to determine what level a party starts at and give experience according to what level they are at, though I couldn't tell you exactly how to go about doing that. ----- Dikiyoba once met a sleep talker. One night, he (the sleep talker) dreamed that he was friends with a giant chipmunk named Puff Daddy. After the giant chipmunk razed his hometown for him, he went to Belgium and destroyed it just to get his hands on the recipe for Belgium waffles. True story. Or at least as true as dreams get. ----- Edit: Clarification.
  24. It's lacking spots of lighter and darker colors and that's why it looks different. However, Dikiyoba is happy with the way it looks.
  25. A crocodile's gender is determined by the temperature the egg is kept at as it develops. It's not the same thing as changing genders as an adult, but it is fascinating. Dikiyoba can't remember a thing about Jurassic Park except that trying to recreate dinosaurs is a very bad idea.
