  1. Unix filenames are case-sensitive, which can affect the URL . Edit: Oh, good list by the way.
  2. I don't know stuff or nothing, but maybe you are used to playing Geneforge 3 where the quicksave button was F3. In Geneforge 2 it is F10. Gets me every time.
  3. I like the sound of this. Basically it'll have the familiar elements (fighter/mage/shaper), returning characters, augmented by some fun or pretty things to look at (new spell effects, weather). Can't argue with that. Especially because the promises are modest and therefore achievable. If you promise 3 new creations, that's deliverable. While if you promise an entirely new engine, well people are bound to have high expectations. Mind you, talking spiders are overdue to make an appearance in the Geneforge 'verse!
  4. Not an official one, no. There is an unofficial unsupported editor script. Edit: Oh, there's no link. I wonder why not? You need to look here Geneforge 2 editor .
  5. Nah, they're all just isolated pockets. There's no evidence they're part of an organised resistance to the shapers.
  6. The shaper sect are a nasty lot, basically. We've met shaper rebels, creation rebels and visitors from a foreign land (the sholai) who have all questioned the shapers' right to absolute power of life and death over their creations. So where are the human rebels? Surely we ought to have met at least one spy by now?
  7. Quote: Originally written by Dikiyoba: Dikiyoba disagrees. The disaster in G1 is that the novice's ship is killed and sunk and so the novice is now stuck on the island. What happened on the island two centuries ago doesn't really count. G3's disaster is just so much larger. Your frame of reference is somewhat skewed. Your ship sinking may be a personal tragedy but it is far short of a disaster. Whereas the abandonment of Sucia island is clearly a disaster for the serviles and other creations left behind. And ultimately for the shapers themselves, as it turns out.
  8. There's one game, can't remember if it's Geneforge or not, where even after you delete notes you have to scroll through all the empty slots in order to get to the ones with info saved in them. That's rather annoying. Personally I preferred the exile 1 & 2 model of saving text to an external txt file, which you could then open in the text editor of your choice, to perform regexp searches and so on.
  9. You can do the final 3 quests in any order. Running the final gauntlet is not required in order to kill Hawthorne. As Tyranicus says, you need to talk to Erika, collect the brooches, and follow the appropriate dialogue options before you can use the teleporter.
  10. Quote: Originally written by MagmaDragoon: Why the game MUST start with a disaster? Because your PC starts the game as a novice. If there hadn't been a disaster of some sort, then the skilled NPCs would be able to resolve the plot without your help. It's a plot device, which Jeff uses often. To give him credit though, GF2 and Nethergate don't use the 'disaster' scenario. GF1 does, but it does so in a slightly different way (the disaster occurred long before your visit).
  11. An oozing blade is not very useful against rotghroths, and anyway I never found one in GF2.
  12. All you'll find in the dark slith temple is the blade - on the altar. The tip is in the Crypt of Drath. The pommel is in the Nepharim underground fort by the lake.
  13. In A3, you can't go back to Olgai/Egli/Mancuso, etc. You can visit some Vahnatai lands in the endgame, but nowhere you've been before, and only for a specific purpose.
  14. I went for steel spines (damage attacker), for my guardian who obviously fights in melee a lot. If you wore the EC with a shaper/agent, then maybe a golden crystal (5% resistance to all hostile effects) would be better.
  15. Quote: Originally written by MagmaDragoon: Explain the motivations of your choice. I voted loyal for GF3, but only because rebels lack training opportunities late in the game and I don't like to be forced to use canisters. Edit: I like to play all the games following all the possibilities, I don't really have a moral or political preference. The factions are all as bad as each other, really.
  16. Just for completeness: Judith is sometimes in Shayder, Bavner or Hectar. Meena is sometimes in Shayder, Kuper or Hectar. Doesn't slow make you forfeit alternate turns?
  17. Formello: Claudette wants you to locate a scroll of history. You have to visit the dragon Khoth. As a reward, Claudette will teach you the spell unshackle mind (L3).

I can confirm it gives +2 strength to your creation(s) as well as your PC (in this case a guardian, as you correctly deduced). But I'm not sure how much difference +2 strength really makes to my gazer's attack; no more can I quantify how much the +2 strength boosts my PC's attack. It would simply be too boring to do a proper controlled trial. Thanks anyway.
  19. Which one do people think is better? The puresteel blade does more damage, but the guardian claymore boosts strength and quick action.
  20. Yup, it's a drakon called Lord Ghaldring. He doesn't appear in GF3, except in the text at the end. But he is the one who sets off the whole chain of events in GF3 - a war between shapers and their creations. Well, you did request spoilers.
  21. There's nothing in there, and you can't get in. It's a red herring.
  22. in blades of exile, people can and do invent their own items. myself, i like acid-resistant armor and AP-increasing everything.
  23. go west from the docks and crawl along the south side of the lake, searching every wall for secret passages. it's not far, but it is hidden (hence the secret passage). i think you do need to have the clue from the vahnatai council, before you can get anywhere with this.
  24. It turns out to be a quicksilver ring: +1 to dexterity, +4 to luck, but cursed (healers can uncurse it, it’ll then be worth 2000 gold).

Um...you won't be a shaper in GF4, and 'fighter' is kind of like 'guardian', and a mage has been overused. So I doubt it would be one of them. Duh. You missed the whole point. The new "non-shaper" game is likely to be exactly the same as before, but with a different starting point.
