Understated Ur-Drakon Celtic Minstrel
But then they don't even automatically take the food and gold that's placed in the town and not marked "not yours"? Was it impossible for food and gold to be "not yours" in Exile 1 and 2?
Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
I don't think anything could be "not yours" in E1. That was introduced in E2 or E3. —Alorael, who now has to ponder. He's fairly sure he has interacted with "not yours" gold in BoE scenarios, and he doesn't see what would prevent him from flagging gold as "not yours." He's not positive, though. Understated Ur-Drakon The Almighty Doer of Stuff
In Exile I and II, gold and food were never Not Yours. You could take them, but you wouldn't get anything. It would tell you you got 0 gold. In other words, it was there for decoration.

Correct about BoE 'not yours' gold. When in that state you couldn't see how much the amount was either.
Garrulous Glaahk Lucheiah
Yeah, I recall - that was irritating, you could never tell if it was worth the theft or not.

Unflappable Drayk Sleeping Dragon
Yeah, I definitely remember scrolling through loot picking up all the coins first, then checking each item just to make sure it wasn't a special unique magical artifact or something. Since then, Jeff has made collecting money more efficient, and magical item placement more predictable.
Rotghroth Rhapsody Mysterious Man
Jeff... buddy, seriously. Stop screwing around. This game should be done by now. I wanna pre-order Avernum 7. Does anyone else play Avernum using the half-naked chick as a singleton? I want a good romantic subplot in this game. And I'm not talking about this GIFTS stuff either. Love, baby. Love will keep us together.

Never, not even in a larger party. I prefer the one in the green dress, or the one with a bow, or sometimes the green tank-top. I never use the half-naked man either; I generally prefer the blue-robed one if he's a magic user, and if not... I think the first one. But of course it can vary greatly. Unflappable Drayk Toby-Linn
I used the half-naked chick when I played Avernum with an all female party.

I rather enjoyed Realmz to be honest, the character creation was diverse and the combat intense. Yeah, the fatigue feature was annoying, but not much more than the food requirement in Exile. Curious Artila bTomfoolery
I noticed that the character portraits have all remained the same. Perhaps I may devote some of my time to updating these as a sort of fan project, I've always wanted to do that, perhaps this new graphical engine is a good opportunity to do so. Anti-aliasing yeah! Well-Actually War Trall Acky
That would be pretty cool. Now that all the graphics have been improved, the hand-drawn portraits in particular look out of place.
Chittering Clawbug Mav
Bring back the ninja avatar from way back in Avernum 1! Best avatar in Avernum, IMHO, shame it disappeared in Avernum 4 or so. Can't wait for the final installment of the series. Avernum 1 was a great game and it'll be fun to see how Jeff decides to finally end things. This time around, I might just register _before_ I play through the demo zone.
