  1. What brought this on, Dragonboy, was my romantic interest posted on Facebook, "What is your idea of heaven?" I answered, and then I posted this question as an attempt to gauge his personality a bit. He says he's happily not thinking about his demise at this point in his life. I don't know him very well, except that on a basics level we're compatible, and he likes to flatter me, so that's got me interested enough to try to pick his brain and see if I like what he has to say. I'm not sure whether he knows I'm crushing on him, but there's a definite possibility that he does. Then I figured it might generate discussion here too.
  2. Mind game: If you had to choose the manner of your own death, what would it be? There are rules: 1. You cannot take intentional action to end your life, e.g. suicide, killing someone and getting shot by the police, blowing up the planet, etc. 2. You cannot choose the date or time of your death. 3. You cannot die peacefully in your sleep. This is the lazy person's answer and it is invalid. I'll post my answer after a few posts, although some of you may have seen it on my Facebook Timeline. I think the only active Spidwebbers on my Friends list are Trenton and Actaeon, though. (So yeah, mods, if this is no good for the forum, you may delete it.) EDIT: Nope, Arancaytar is too. He never comments on my posts or reads my PMs though so he probably didn't see it.
  3. They wear loincloths in Avernum games, but that's it. Jeff's writing is superb, very flexible. Humor, serious, frightening, aesthetic, all blended together. That's why he has such a dedicated fan base. The game engines are just kind of OK and the graphics aren't remotely top-grade. It's all a vehicle for his walls of text and spare jokes scattered throughout his games, just absorbing enough to make it feel interactive but not enough that he'd have to devote a lot of time, money, and energy to make a smash hit engine and not enough time telling a story.
  4. support@spiderwebsoftware.com Nobody yet has offered a solution to your conundra, ChronoTravis and jetcitywoman. It is likely that you have stumbled across game-breaking bugs which were missed during alpha and beta testing. Spiderweb Software would probably like to know about these issues, so I suggest you email the above address with all the details you can give. Jeff or Mariann will probably lead you through the standard "Restart the program, restart the computer, reinstall the game, etc." checks, and if the bug is still not solved and especially if it can be reproduced, the company will probably release a patch. Thanks for bringing this up!
  5. I haven't even played A2:CS, but what I know about it, regarding the occupants of a certain small dungeon which in previous versions of the game which was my favorite dungeon in Dark Waters and one of my favorites in general, would make me very upset if I had any sanity left. So yeah, what he said.
  6. My brief examination of relevant Wikipedia articles indicates he and his colleagues developed the foundations for the materials I use in my recovery, although I hesitate to think too much about Sufism.
  7. I got it all. I'm feeling like crap right now but it will go up eventually.
  8. I dropped out of college for the third time in 2011. Does that make me a college people? I'd love a multiplayer Exile game, but I think I'd have a hard time convincing Celtic Minstrel to do that... But hey, it's FOSS, so YOU can make it, Darzeon!
  9. You can sell those items by putting a bunch of them in your junk bag. You'll get a few coins for them in bulk even though you can't sell them one at a time. You can't sell body parts, rocks, garbage, etc. but pretty much everything else can be sold via junk bag.
  10. They make you dance. Think about how that might affect your fighting ability.
  11. This must be fixed immediately. Kelandon needs every bit of convenience so he can finish the slithzerikai story! I've never played the slithzerikai story but if it's as good as everyone says it is, I'd like to see the whole thing.
  12. EDIT: Oh, whoops. I guess my site downloader addon hardlinked them all. Yeah, I'm definitely going to need the index page and the other parts sent to me.
  13. I'm uploading it now to http://www.almightywebsite.com/hhh/ although I don't know if it will work right yet. Also, Harpy Thymes is a broken link. Otherwise I think I got it all.
  14. Either way it's better than the one currently included. I've never been good at drawing people, but I can draw amorphous blobs that almost but don't quite entirely match the other amorphous blobs! The Crimson Slime is GNU GPL 2.0+ like everything else, if anyone wants to mess with it.
  15. A predominantly cooperative server is what I've been looking for since the end of the first map we tried, but I'm pretty sure I'm still not allowed on Sylae's website. Otherwise I'd give it a try.
  16. To keep my modified PCs, I unzip the new version into my Spidweb installers folder, go in and delete pcs.png, then I go to the old version and delete everything EXCEPT pcs.png, then cut the new version and paste it over the old one. I look forward to not having to do this.
  17. It is easy to alter the file but then if you need to use a special party for a scenario, you may have messed up the way the character is supposed to look. That hasn't stopped me from rearranging them, but I'll probably put them back in order when CM finishes that feature. As for the orange thing, looks fine to me. At least one or two of the existing Vahnatai mob graphics have them, in various colors. Humans must not be the only ones to think dressing in layers is wise.
  18. It's been a long time since I played this. It's one of my favorite scenarios. There's a walkthrough in the hint book, which is available on Spidweb's site, but it's not linked anywhere. https://www.spiderwebsoftware.com/hints/blades.html I don't remember clearly but I'm pretty sure the idol is a red herring. There's a lot of red herrings in ZKR.
  19. I really like that one! The only improvement I think is needed is to pull zir hand out from under zir robe. I'm trying to get CM's attention to see what he thinks. By the way, what's your preferred pronoun set, if you want to say? I've just been calling you ze/zir when discussing your work with CM. EDIT: Sniped again.
  20. Like I said, the version I downloaded from TrueSite has no JPG or even a MEG, only a BMP and a GIF. TM was an avid Mac user, so he may have created two separate ZIPs for the two operating systems.
  21. ...Does this sound familiar to you too, CM? Either way, the poor guy looks like he's going to fall over and crush his own skull with that sword. EDIT: Sniped.
