  1. Ascript is extremely useful for finding errors (frankly I'd be horrified at the prospect of trying to script a whole scenario without it), but it doesn't tell you everything. And trying to find the right calls is still a frustrating process of searching through the often sketchy documentation, then usually some trial and error, then probably begging for help on the forums.
  2. Congratulations, EE, you made me laugh.
  3. Actually, having more than one healer will probably make your life more difficult on Torment. Hit rates are sucky enough without neglecting your characters' attack skills. Not to mention the defensive skills like Parry and Hardiness, which will have to wait longer if you are spending your points on Priest levels.
  4. Yes it stacks in this game. Three healers is more than enough.
  5. Nethergate: Resurrection uses the same engine as A1-3 and BoA, though the magic system is quite different. Hopefully it doesn't seem too clunky for you, because it's a great story told from two perspectives. It's considered by many here to be one of Jeff's best games.
  6. You can choose both sides. It feels pretty evil, but the selkies are not entirely innocent themselves.
  7. Are you hitting level 30 before the end (of the Avadon games)? If not, that's your problem right there. If so, you need to look at your character builds, and probably your tactics.
  8. You should know that in A4-6 there often isn't much point in learning a spell above level one. You don't get additional effects as you do in AEFTP or the first trilogy, just small incremental increases in power. By all means buy an extra level or two of the cheaper spells if you like, but you can save your gold for other things. Spells will get more powerful anyway as you increase your casting skills, and Magery and/or Spellcraft (I forget which is used in A6, possibly both). Edit: It's A1-3 that require you to have a level of a spell before you can learn it from a tome.
  9. This is actually what the original versions first trilogy were like; Jeff brought it back for the remake, probably because fans would have rioted if he hadn't. You are correct. In fact AEFTP was the first (and is so far the only) SW game to allow you to pool TU. This was a welcome innovation, but with 4 characters you can afford to have one specialize as a thief in the older games. A lot of people actually hate this feature of the newer games, because the pathfinding is unpredictable and sometimes disastrous; it can end up running your squishy mage right up to the enemy, or sending your tank the long way around an obstacle, or otherwise fouling up your battle plan. Yeah, the earlier skill systems are a little esoteric, and if you just wing it without checking Strategy Central, you'll probably end up with less than optimal builds. But the games are beatable with less than optimal builds, on Normal anyway. Still, that caused a lot of frustration for new players, which is probably why Jeff changed to the tree system. It's much harder to make an unplayable character with the newer games.
  10. Congrats, that's a tough fight.
  11. Yeah pretty much what Edgwyn said. And playing on Torment has no effect on your level; xp rewards are the same.
  12. You don't get to kill Miranda here. Don't worry, you'll get your chance later, just let the story play out.
  13. This was accurate for the original A1. In AEFTP, you can use a tome even if you have no levels in that spell, but it only gives you one level no matter what. You still have to get the other two levels elsewhere (usually by buying them) if you want to raise it higher than that. Doesn't matter which you do first.
  14. Well in fairness it is possible for the Celts to accomplish their goal in the Goblin Pits with only a handful of goblin casualties. One can assume that in the Roman version of the game that's what happened.
  15. Ociporus is clearly aware of this fact. The point is that s/he doesn't like it, which is a perfectly valid opinion to have.
  16. I want you to know that you've inspired me to play Nethergate yet again. This time on my laptop. Moving without a number pad is a bit aggravating, but other than that I'm having a blast with my Celt duo.
  17. Of course it's justified. You've just generated three distinct quotes that you can use when quoting yourself in future posts.
  18. It's the underground river in A2. The long, one-way route to the Vahnatai lands.
  19. I think it's random, but outside of the Dark Waters the chance seems to be pretty low.
  20. Darth Ernie, please do not start pointless spam threads. Unless you can make them entertaining.
  21. Well, you can always retrain to get those points back. And if you keep the Fancy Toolbelt equipped, that'll save you a few more skill points in the right column.
  22. Also also, in the first trilogy more spellcasting levels = more spell energy.
