  1. If Astoria had simply stepped down she would be dead. The war would continue and she would be killed by the victor. Ghaldring would not let her live and the Shapers would see her stepping down as a admission of guilt to conspire witht he rebels. Whomever came to power in her place would be more likely to attack the rebels and increase the death toll in the Mera-Tev. Of course all the faction leaders are ruthless and seem willing to sacrifice whatever they must to acheive their worldview.
  2. I've compiled Quests' #1 - #99 and noted all rewards (XP, Gold, Items, Stats) directly given, but there are still those secondary rewards such as disabling a trap or unlocking a room with items / canisters that I don't have noted. If you come across such a reward please let me know so I can add it to my list of quests. Simply state what quest, and what items / canisters are available. Eventually I hope to have all 99 (98 really. 1 is not given, but it is in the data) quests up and available on my site.

  4. This is of course analogous to the concerns over genetic engineering. Today we can create better crops that are hardier, resistant to disease, grow faster for higher yearly yields, and so forth through direct manipulation (as opposed to generational breeding). Then there is the future of genetic engineering where we work upon animals. From the GF1 & GF2 backstories I recall that the Shapers did something similar using magical radiation which tweaked the genetic structure of living animals and crops. They started out as mages with the ability to make limited modifications. In time their abilities diversified and they rose in power accordingly. Given time they became the premier power with their abilities to reshape the land to human preferences. Eventually we reach a critical point. Shaping has existed for so long that the Shapers know deep down in their bones that Shaping is merely a creation, property. Livestock. A servile is livestock. A fyora is livestock. Intelligence is not wanted because A. it defies the livestock model and B. it could go rogue. Of course when someone takes things too far or when nature runs it course (GF1) we finds the seeds of a new race are born. I suspect that for the longest time serviles were dumb workers. Now skip forward to GF5.

It says something about putting the file in a "non case-sensitive hard drive" and I have no idea what the crap that means! I tried re-downloading Geneforge, but whenever I loaded 'spiderwebsoftware.com' safari quit unexpectedly (at least for the first two times). I tried downloading the beta from the forum, but it was gone. What do I do? To clear up some questions: Yes, I use a mac, how else would I have GF5? I tried going to spiderwebsoftware.com again and nothing happened. I don't know what was wrong, but it fixed. Last time I downloaded it again it carried registration and files. Hopefully it will this time. I'm checking. Yippedeezoodah: It copied over files and registration. Have the checked this thread for case-sensitive HD? http://www.ironycentral.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=147874#Post147874 If that doesn't work then let us know.
  6. Makeup Castle: Revenge of the Lipstick. Will your team be able to defeat the sinister rouge before she unleashes her zombie powder upon the world? BoA scenario?
  7. If you bring up the main menu / pause screen does the CPU usage drop?
  8. What class are you and what is your INT?
  9. Is there any way whatsoever of marking an item as contained if it is not preplaced in the editor?

  11. Go to the East Shadow Road and work your way towards the NE Corner.
  12. Odd. I just sampled some links and they're all good. Can you tell which links specifically?
  13. I would like to point out that there is a legend at the top of the page.
  14. The item list is now in HTML format. Go to http://geneforge5.webs.com/items.htm

  16. Also, add in a way to let the player know they've exceeded the number of characters allowed per box.
  17. I will have part of my item lists up on my site. The rest of the lists will be HTML sometime tonight and then I'll make the page public.
  18. If you ever touch the intro text dialog boxes then please, please, please add the ability to copy/paste text into those boxes from outside of BoA.
  19. It may have been a guardian stone (+1 Parry) or guardian cloak (+1 all combat skills)
  20. I've created 3 Excel files that detail all the armor, weapons, and charms available in the game. Click for Armor Click for Charm Click for Weapon I'll eventually get it up on my GF5 site, but in the meantime I'll host these files for anyone who wants to use. Edit: I have not listed where unique items may be found. If you know, tell me and I'll add it to the data.
  21. In a cave? Nothing. In the outdoors? It means that all terrain is shaded at around 50% black in the darkest, but there is no covered terrain such as when a cave town is made to be dark. If an outdoor town is marked as dark, and it is night then the darkness tends toward 75% shade.

Actually, you don't need to actually make it. Any sufficiently advanced hype is just as good.
