  1. I want to know what the max is for stats like strength, endurance, dexterity and intelligence? I also want to know what is realistic max for endgame. Does anyone know?
  2. I always had that feeling. I did nothing against or for pact in Avadon 1 on 3rd try. I however never was mean to redbeard and thus that char was a heart. In Avadon 2 I dont think its possible to be keeper after that long annoying engagement that took forever outside. If you brought like 30-40 potions I guess it would work. I just had little energy left to fight him.
  3. Was Hexen that really old first person perspective action/rpg game? I think that was it. I used to argue with people it was an action/rpg rather than shooter. I still dont know what it is.
  4. I just wanna say that ANY rpg or game you really like and are good at can be seen as great for stress/depression. I play some games more than others and that is because they are good at coping and stuff. When I want to get destressed from Jeff's games, I will play Geneforge 1 or Avadon 1. When I want to get stressed with Jeff's games usually Avadon 2 right before the endgame city stuff, heh. At that point my depression will form into greater (er worser) things and tentacles will grow as well.
  5. I really want to know just what/how Jeff deals with races you get Nephil and Slith. I think that will be the main thing that makes the game much different from 1st. I still dont think the new chars however will be able to beat my combination of 1 of my parties in 1st game. When you put all 30 points into Strength and just focus on melee for 1 or even 2-3 chars, how are you going to beat that melee wise?
  6. Its good to see that this happened for gog. This means that Crystal Souls will likely be released there soon because well, they sort of have to now. That just goes to show that some of the people on gog were wrong saying they won't ever release it on there they already have orig. The only thing is just how much sales does jeff get when 1 game goes on gog. Its good for him yes, but will it necessarily boost his revenue, I don't know.
  7. Most old games (basically games before 1998) arent worth playing for most if not all rpg gamers. They are good for 1 thing, that is the accomplish that you beat them. Otherwise they are more aggravation than they are fun. Drawing a map is not something I would consider I should have to do to play a game. I think its hilarious when people on gogames say-And after you read the manual and go over the field guide (spending 2 hours in the process) you can actually play the game. When they take an old concept and deliver in a more current time period- (That is the best way of experiencing that old school feeling). Baldurs Gate 1 and Fallout 1 were both in 1998. They were a little unforgiving, but here's the catch-there is a gamebanshee guide for both of them which is outstanding, and a number of other faqs. But here's an interesting thing-With some of the older games, there isnt even a map listed online or a guide. So if you get stuck you literally have hours and hours of aggravation. I would gather that with all notions aside any rpg below year 1998 is not worth playing because of the reasons listed. There are also likely to be better games that maybe came out in 2004-present. Just my 2 cents.
  8. This thread is officially locked as of now. You can now move onto whatever else to occupy time. What? Oh and I dont have the authority to do so so you will have to wait for a real moderator.
  9. I have a question. Is Jeff going to start dating one of the new characters in Avadon 3 when it comes out. If that is not the case can I romance one of the new chars. Oh wait, isn't Avernum 2 remake coming first. I feel so foolish. Either way, just let him know that I get first dibs on the female tinkermage and female new spellcasting char. Thankyou.
  10. There are certain times I will agree with every single statement made here. Certain times. If I am playing Icewind Dale and one of my party's fighters gets turned to stone, the fight is over. In certain games it made it more thrilling. But taking away that feature for some games is more than impossible. Even though disliked Avadon 2, I learned that if you lose a Party, you can go to corner, exit combat, quickly teleport back and forth entering/exiting combat until party is back. If that wasnt in the game you would LOSE an hour and 15 minutes at the endgame trek in that specific game. I dont cater to Avadon 2 but I am glad its in the game because the first is more strategic because of it.
  11. I disliked Avadon 2. I thought Avadon 1 was great with dexterity at 5%. Once they changed that then the game wasn't playable. I also disliked the fight at end game where you have to run the gauntlet. That was in Avernum Escape from the Pit (Emperor) and I dont like it when they do that. It takes forever and if you screw up you just wasted an hour. Avernum the Pit was playable on 2 of the endings but I dont think I will replay Revenge. Avadon 1 was perfect, nuff said. Geneforge 1 was great but can get challenging. The difference in Geneforge is that battles are over in minutes rather than hours. Geneforge 2 was good as well. The rest of the series I thought were awful. I havent played Avernum's second trilogy much. The problem with alot of Jeff's games is that Casual should really be renamed Normal, Normal should be renamed hard and hard should be torment. I thought that there were only 1 characters I had that were able to get past Avadon 1 without switching to casual. So thats 1 character out of 3 that played through normal whereas otherwise Geneforge games are likely to all be played on casual. Geneforge is just flat out difficult. But it might be that charm that keeps me coming back.
  12. Speaking of remakes, does there or will there ever come a time in Avernum 2 or 3 where Emperor Hawthorne makes a comeback? Do you get mention of him and his sadistic antics. Just asking because he was a lunatic but my kind of lunatic.
  13. A true assassin learns how to pick from birth. The second he picks up a lockpick the lock unlocks itself from seeing his pure power. If that doesnt work then I guess you could get by like in Skyrim. I can unlock any trap in Fallout 3 with a BigBoy or whatever it is called.
  14. You know what doesnt make sense. We are supposed to say-"Leave you're sanity at the door." I lost my sanity when I was born
  15. I am sorry that you are sad. I sometimes get sad myself. I usually cheer up when I eat a bowl of ice-cream with skittles. I hope you feel better.
  16. I thought the gameplay of the remake was excellent for Avernum. It felt much more like a real set of battles going on. If you started a fight at one of the endgame boss quests-even if you made the same move 2 times in a row, a different set of consequences would happen. The battle disciples in that game were great too. I played Avernum 4-6 and it felt much better in the remake. That and I played through the remake 4 times. That's more than just about any rpg I own.
  17. 1-I am 17 years old. 2-I live in the east. The place right next to Lut Gholein and Ali-Baba's Gurkha blade. 3-English, german, spanish. 4-I am native american and sometimes I turn into a wolf. I actually only have 30% of that but I really have a little bit of every nationality. I am even somehow related to Vlish which I dont understand. 5-It changes from day to day. 6-Atheist 7-I am dating Adranis. 8-I would say conservative. 9-Too young. When I make it past the honeycomb I will be ready for service. 10-Will hopefully finish Highschool.
  18. I am not sure what is happening in the video. Is it a hacking engine that aims to create cheats for a game? And who is talking in the video. There's all these voices with confusing tones. It is kind of like Spcpeople.
  19. So I am going to guess that most Tactical Rpgs dont allow you to exp farm with random encounters. That would only make sense as I dont remember Growlanser having that. They classified Knights of the Chalice as being a tactical rpg on wikipedia although the funny thing is that it might fit the bill. The game doesnt really have a story but not even that, the game is brutally hardcore on tactics. If you dont do what you are supposed to do, bye bye
  20. It states on wikipedia that tactical rpgs are not the same as an original rpg. The issue here is that if both are turnbased it is really hard to differentiate. I am playing Gorky 17 right now and it is stated there that it is a tactical rpg. Yet what is the real difference? Ive played jrpgs and they were mostly rpgs but there is still that issue where if you are in a certain battle you got to do a certain thing to advance. Breath of Fire 3 is likely a rpg but what about other games. Pool of Radiance I would guess is a tactical rpg because there really isnt much roleplaying, its all about tactics. Avernum, Geneforge, Avadon? I would say it is a mix of both but moreso follows the tactical rpg because its more about tactics. I dont know. It still really doesnt make much sense as both genres are usually turnbased and have some rpg elements.
  21. To be fair I am not angry at Jeff, nor will I ever be. I just have this new android and I am an idiot when it comes to using it. I figured oh this update will be different, androids are different from iphones. When I click on something, it never clicks on the thing I aim at. Its sad but I wrote out a number of android games I thought I would be able to play. I am definitely considering giving this phone back for a regular one. At least then I can use it without frustration. The alternative was that Jeff eventually writes a game to game boy system but that is unlikely too. If any game jeff made was portable in a gameboy or android size device, it would be the best portable game ever made.
  22. I sent a message about asking jeff if he would ever consider porting all his new games to a gameboy type system. I asked this a week ago and I think he is angry at me. He hasnt responded. I asked him about this because I have an android and they are impossibly hard to figure out. I only use it for texting and calling both which made HARDER with new phones. Phones were down to a science for me and then they made texting even harder. Checking stuff on the phone was lame. Basically everything that is new is ok but mostly it sucks. Everything was already done and 100% good. They made new features and things like vista and other stuff get ruined. Steve Jobs delivers shieldbreaker to himself-fail fortitude save. Bill Gates knowingly cast bane on Jobs and thus we have present scenario.
  23. I dont know of many with 8 party members but Natuk had that you created 8 orcs, ogres or trolls and it was interesting. However, it could be problematic as the looks of your characters were very similar. I would say I might be able to do it if the colors were different for each of the chars. Have little squads of my fighters might make sense. The one cool thing about having that many characters is that you can take on much more enemies at once. I think helherron had that too. I have to try an 8 squad some time with little squads to tell the difference
