Thanks guys, I didn't recall! Interesting. Also, thanks for the interesting and highly detailed Avadon lore!!! I'm playing through them again now and this is fascinating. Overall, I think Avadon has some of Jeff's wittiest writing and I had forgotten just how fun it is.

Hi friends. I had a sudden hankering / attack of nostalgia, so I downloaded BoE and started playing it again. I'm on a 2009 iMac running OS 10.11.6, and I'm just playing Valley of Dying Things for the moment. I noticed that the crystal pillar light thingies and glowing portculli and gross filth outdoors all appear as black squares. I gave up when I went into the southern part of the school because all the gremlins are invisible. Any idea how to fix this? Thanks for making this available and playable.

I agree--I like my dungeons sprawling and spiraling with many levels. I'm very curious to see what it will be like in the reincarnations. Tx, I agree. I adore the old engine, in just about all aspects. I actually much prefer not having the shift-D console: it's much too tempting, and I always end up cheating just I bit more than I want to. A2 and A3 are some of my favorite games of all time. I also really like the keypad navigation, the indoor v. outdoor setup, the graphics, ... I take every chance to rave about it. Not that I hate the new engine.

You're right, it's just easier to me because I have concrete, progressive ways to learn C/C++, and I study them much more consistently, hence building on my knowledge more and more. I need to spend more time scripting.
