  1. Luck increases the chance that things you kill will drop items for loot. It increases to differing degrees your resistance to damage, better to hit, and avoiding being hit. Also in some situations where you might die, you luck out and are left at 0 health. It's worth at least one luck level and in GF1 you can buy it.
  2. How many members are going to go into shock because they believed that this would never happen? Now they start asking for something else that Jeff said he would never do like Exile 4.
  3. Monarch changed his name to distance himself from his previous failure at Empire building. He chooses not to remember that time except as a need to revenge himself on the Shapers. The Sholai appearance altered considerably from thin sailors to bulked up warriors from excessive canister use.
  4. I assume it's the same for the original Nethergate. It isn't easy to be evil since there are so many little good things that you can accidentally do like helping Bevan retrieve his daughter in Galag Trav.
  5. Armor has some encumbering effects early in the game. Natural mage allows you to have heavier armor , chain mail (20% penalty), without losing mage spell ability. You can offset the encumberance with defense and after a while you won't even notice it. Exceeding your weight allowance drops your action points to a minimum of 2 AP. This means that you waste a round dropping items. So avoid picking up items until after you have cleared an area and are returning to town.

  7. There are 3 main quests in Exile 1. Find a route to the surface, kill Grah-Hoth, and do Erika's quest to assassinate Hawthorne. They each have many smaller quests that need to be done as steps along the way. You need to do the Mayor of Formello's quest to retrieve her necklace to be able to get into the Castle from the Shareware part. Anything else is for fun usually. It helps to have done the Giant Intelligent Friendly Talking Spider (GIFTS) quest and cleared the Mertis Spiral in order to have found 2 of the 5 brooches. Edit - Forgot that Motrax's Cave has a brooch. Take your time and explore. There is plenty to see and do so enjoy.
  8. Start with a platinum ring and follow the steps to perfect an item. There should be more information in the Walkthrough.
  9. Was it Blades of Avernum that had the optional tutorial that you could skip and go straight into a game by going through the portal?
  10. You should be able to do it. The drayk has unlimited missle attacks and the gazer can be saved for the summoned rotgroths and the drakon at the end. Keep attacking to keep Matala in motion with plenty of wrack and essence shackles.
  11. If you ever read the threads about making a party, you will see there is a wide range of opinions on what makes a good party. There is no concensus on how to start, what to use skill points for, and what to buy.
  12. When there's nobody else left you win. Any interesting drops in the destruction of the camps, Dillame, and Rivergate Keep?
  13. Read Synergy's Insidious Infiltrator and Thuryl's Shocktrooper and Lifecrafter threads for ideas. It's a long fight and usually involves some abuse of the AI. Be sure to destroy the regenerationg pylons and turn off the vats before starting the fight. It depends upon your character. A single character has trouble unless you can do massive damage per round. Melee attacks usually curse you.
  14. You still can go downstairs for that GIFTS quest.
  15. I'm pretty sure I saw a calculation on how to open a difficulty 90 door with a normal mage/thief character last year. It was buried in a thread so I'm not going to trust the search function to find it again.
  16. Has anyone played the game through as an evil party. For example robbing beggars and looting without doing any good actions. I was wondering since if you play good you get a reward at that place west of the Hollow Hills. There is a place near Vanarium where you get depraved thoughts, but no reward. Edit - I looked at the script to see the possible reward in Nethergate: Resurrection --- cool.
  17. Make the game harder for Torment level since Jeff hasn't done so for some areas. The character editor is pretty much the same as from old Nethergate at least from the player's viewpoint. I guess the technical details are different.
  18. It's Jeff's quick way of saying that you're not suppose to go there. Nethergate: Resurrection has a difficulty 200 door to get around all the people that figured out how to make a character that can open difficulty 90 doors (There's an empty room like that in the Castle).
  19. It's a worthwhile quest since you advance the Avernite cause against its enemies. I forget if there is any nice loot.
  20. Piercing crystals work on the magically locked doors that you can't do with tool use. The Anama have a cheap supply as a member so you don't need the mage spell unlock door.
  21. I think that you can open one, but I don't think there is anything special up there.
  22. Drops come in two forms - the preassigned ones and the chance of getting something based upon luck. For ornks the preassigned is meat, but I never saw a gem so congratulations on a rare drop.
  23. Keep hoping. Most of the old players ignore the documentation and miss the changes that do make it into it.
  24. At least with "unconcious" you don't have to pick up all the character's equipment and loot to haul back separately. The down side is that you can't access that one item that only he or she was carrying.
  25. Quote: Originally written by Spidweb: The beginning of Geneforge 5 will involve spectacular devasation. The end of the series will be up to you. He can finally destroy all who oppose him in a massive devastation.
