  1. Once you can reach Fort Avernum, I found that sorting stuff into piles by categories - wands, rings, potions, etc. helps to find them quicker. Just spread the piles out in the room so they don't overlap when you get something.
  2. First start in fight mode to reduce the number of spawned creations. Buff up and move slowly so you have some AP to retreat or cast a spell. It's been a while and I remember doing it in several trips. Go after pylons first since you can attack and retreat. Hold up in rooms where you can close the door to use pods to replace essence and heal. The main spawners are in the east side so save that area for last. Delicious Vlish had some great advice to advance enough to draw off one foe at a time and then retreat so you don't get swarmed. Welcome to Spiderweb Software forums and please leave your sanity at the door.
  3. Pick whatever you like for me if I'm included. I've never had a good picture in real life so I won't likely object. Edit - An Avernite mage will do since that's what Dikiyoba made me in the episodes.
  4. Chapter 2 requires you to help the Shapers enough to get the Repair Moseh quest from Alwan if you want to have any further to do with the Shapers other than fight. You don't have to do it, but without the quest you can't get Alwan's pass to get into Shaper Camp Gamma, etc. You fighter should be able to deal out enough damage, but you are probably not using items effectively. Some fights work better if you can daze creations to reduce the number of hostiles that you face. Charm is also very helpful. It might help to get items to help you make creations that can fight for you. That way you won't have to waste skill points training in shaping.
  5. Considering how the Shaper ancestors trashed Sucia Island before heading to the mainland, it's probable that they didn't do that great a job when the started on the mainland. They probably moved on until they got some significant control on shaping. The fact that they had forgotten about coming from Sucia Island implies that they hid the information or had moved so far that no longer knew the area.
  6. Also Learned Darien can help you get into a sect when your replies push you too far to normally get in on reputation or leadership alone.
  7. Move mountains level 3 is in the library in Gale. There are 5 stone circles and they give rewards based upon how many you have entered and not a specific reward for each circle.
  8. It's not that new is better, it's why ruin a good thing. There were a lot of nice features in Exile. Avernum had a great three dimensional landscape that got flatten in A4. To save time Jeff imported too many Geneforge features and changed the game in ways that upset fans. A5 should be better if Jeff follows through on what he said.
  9. When you fulfil the Mayor of Sharimik quest to deliver the message to the Trogolo king you gain access to a dispel barrier spell book.
  10. Quote: Originally written by Thuryl: I intend to find out who has the most treasure, kill them, take it, and repeat the process. (Hey, someone had to say it.) I thought that this philosophy would be leading without question. Hey people stop pretending that you care about anyone but yourselves. At least ET and Thuryl are honest about their self interest.
  11. Also the topics like Insidious Infiltrator and earlier ones mention leadership levels to get rewards in different places. There are other topics covering mechanics. Jeff did make the game for fighting and not as he considers them the geek skills.
  12. Supposedly if you get into the corner that Alwan retreats to, you can avoid the energy blasts. You should be able to kill them before that becomes a problem if you charm a few shaper guards to help. I think that lever turns off the plates so you can find the gazerskin sandals.
  13. It was the easiest way for Jeff to allow you to have control of the outcome. Otherwise you would have to figure out how to sabotage on your own if you wanted to.
  14. I'll give you one guess which one will win with this lot.
  15. Back during beta testing I took Greenfang after completing the Shaila quest, but Greenfang leaves when you go into Illya.
  16. The Western Sea doesn't have to be impassable for a flat world. More likely it's large like the Pacific Ocean without enough islands or a continental region along the north that ships could follow. Given a long enough distance with nothing to see, most explorers will give up due to lack of supplies,
  17. An infiltrator can take advantage of dexterity/missle weapons to increase damage with crystals to get one more attack while hasted. Why make only two attacks when you can have three?
  18. Nethergate is liked by a small few. It has that great elevation in the landscape that make Avernum fun, It's got some great ideas that just weren't popular with most gamers and the interface has a few problems. Jeff has fixed most of them for Nethergate: Resurrection. At least enough to please most Avernum fans.
  19. The worst part about exploding creations like pyroroamers, burning kyshakk, etc. is being in their collateral damage zone when they die. It's nice doing it to opponents, but I can't see risking having it happen to myself.
  20. I always wound up stockpiling somewhere convenient where I could sell if I needed cash for training or spells. The money limit is a pain but you get used to it.
  21. After he gives you the mission he retreats to the Inner Shaping hall that you can only access after you go to Northforge Warrens and investigate. When you get the news that you need and it's obvious you can gain access to the Inner Shaping hall.
  22. Well except for the shapers being used for druids and some drayks for dragons, there isn't as much overlap. At least graphics isn't slowing down developement.
  23. These will only join for a limited area: Southforge Citadel - Artila named Greenfang after Swans quest to calm the fyora Illya Safehouse - Khur if you are pro-Rebel in reputation Rebel Camp Aziraph - can get melee and missle fighters, channelers, and servile techs Poryphra Ruins - Shotwell if helping the Shapers Quessa-Uss Gates - I think with high leadership you can get the drakon to help in your duel with Scourge Northforge Citadel - can get drayks for the Testing Inner Shaping Hall - can get drakons to defend against Shaper invaison
  24. Leadership and mechanics are the same for all difficulties. You need more as you go through the islands. One trick is to use leadership against certain creations where you gain experience if it is high enough (the thahd outside Greenwood Academy and the five blocking the bridge) and then immediately go into fight mode to kill them for bonus experience. Guardians have it tough in GF3 since the broken parry of GF2 was fixed. Still some people have used them without too much trouble. I ran one through the first 2 islands before I stopped the game.
  25. Slarty - By the time you reach the Great Cave you have the skill set to train for resistance without sacrificing spell ability if you use natural mage or pure spirit to help gain spell casting levels in one of them. I made a mistake and started spending spell points for resistance before reaching the trainer in Fort Remote and never finished my old game.
