  1. I haven't tested it, but you aren't supposed to be able to go back to the top level after you reached the lowest level. I guess that character edit is your only option. You might want to compress your saved game and send it to Jeff, since this sounds like a bug.
  2. It just hit me this morning, without druid mastery I have to take off my encumbering armor (armor, shield, and helm) every time I cast simulacrum and then leave fight mode to put it back.
  3. I think it's the combined strength of the party, since that's how most of these are done. Just come back later in the game since you can get by without it now. By then you can sell it or find someone that can still use it.
  4. You can't use the route you took up to the upper level. You need to go down the stairs that are first west and then south of the queen's chamber. This leads to the middle level where you fight some fomorians and lizards to head first east and then north to a hidden passage that goes northwest to a route down to the lowest level, From the storeroom there is a hidden door back to the area you visited. There should be some messages to keep you from going back.
  5. Actually it's buy one level of beast circle in Hagfen, get the beastmaster bracelet, and pick the beast circle scroll for the Hagfen quest reward.
  6. You can't get in as Celts, period. As Romans it helps to pray at the altar on the upper level to get permission to get past the wards. You still need rune reading of 14 to find out what is hidden in the northern crypt area of this hidden area.
  7. The woods are more to the SW and you need to go past that spiderweb marker on the west side to find out what is being blocked. You really need it as a singleton Roman.
  8. Hagfen is really for the Romans or if you want to upgrade a Celtic fighter to have some druidism, even though it's cheaper in skill points. Druidism is cheaper from east of the Faerie Bazaar by a few hundred coins so watch it. I didn't and over paid.
  9. I sometimes failed to charm things like dark wrym in the Hall of the Lamp and a few other powerful monsters. Jeff said that he left simulacrum powerful to help out players, but I never used it.
  10. Go south to Silvar and then head east. It's the large building north of the river and just before the cave wall. North of it are some large farm complexes. The animal trainer and the other farmer that wonders what is going on at Fort Avernum.
  11. I don't know if Jeff changed it, but in Castle Aethdoc you have Dhorus doing two hits of about 300 damage so even around 80% blocked you take two hits of 60 plus his faery friends. There are also Reptrakos, the Ifrit, and a few others that do massive damage. This is why you have to save and buy summoning scrolls as a Roman to have shields. Thanks for the explanation on protection. I wondered why it was so less helpful by the time I finished the demo area.
  12. My initial build was using the second character for maximum skill points. Strength 3 (so I could get at that rat), dexterity 2, intelligence 1, endurance 3 (careless click, but I was going to do it later), Roman training 4, druidism 2, health circle 1, battle circle 2, luck 2. I bought herbcraft 1, hardiness 2, and tool use as I got money. You can get by without cure venom if you buy some herbcraft to increase poison resistance. When fighting goblin shamans, their lance of fire attack (missle) is worse than their melee attack. I definitely saw no experience if a summoned creature does the deathblow.
  13. You could very rarely survive a fall with luck in old Nethergate. Tyranicus managed to do it and someone did it recently in Nethergate: Resurrection. I'm thought that charm beast would work better. I never had any real trouble in my Celtic games, but they had at least intelligence 4.
  14. Synergy as a Roman, for the first few levels you need to back up so only one goblin or wolf is in sight and use missle weapons to lure it out from the group. Although if you watch carefully you will see goblins trying to go around and hit you from behind. For Roman singletons without druidism, it's a real grind to keep from being swarmed and knowing when to retreat to keep from using all your money on healing potions. I tried it and gave up when I finished the Abandoned Mines, when you get outdoors there isn't enough room to use that tactic.
  15. Having a fifth character helps with carrying loot in areas where you can't return. Nethergate: Resurrection is a remake of Nethergate with a different game engine and some extra material, Same basic story, but consider it an expanded edition with more to see and do.
  16. Started a new game with fast on feet and toughness instead for traits. Druidism helps in the beginning to reduce damage. I just killed the Abandoned Mines dragon, cleared the Celtic tribesmen that blocked the bridge northeast of the Ruined Hall, and the fomorians on the bridge to the Hollow Hills. The fights with the dragon and Dolojan had to be redone so I could get the deathblow and experience. Having summoning scrolls helped keep me from being a target in all these battles. Currently at strength 6, dexterity 2, intelligence 1, endurance 3, armor use 4, hardiness 4, Roman training 7, druidism 4, battle and health circles 4, herbcraft 5, tool use 7, and luck 2. I'm wearing bless chain mail, spidersilk cloak, dexterity +2 bracelet, quicksilver ring, aspskin gloves, boots, fury helm. Tool use has gotten me all the trapped boxes except I haven't got past 15 difficulty doors yet. A little more experience and I'll have tool use 8. I'm off to see the Lands of the Fae for my good reward and then to loot the Goblin Pits and Galag-Trav.
  17. Congratulations. The biggest problem isn't spell energy managent in torment as is avoiding damage since the fights take longer. Charms and summons take the pressure off your singleton so you can concentrate on offensive spells. Having enough dexterity to go first really helps in some battles so you aren't swarmed before you get to react outdoors.
  18. I saw the party of Romans again, but I quit the game for other reasons with a corrupt file. I think you have to get the quest removed first before going back to pick up all that loot. Usually at this point you don't have much that you want to spend money on. Edit - Did you step all the way into the hut to trigger the message? If you did, then send the saved game to Jeff so he can fix the logic branch.
  19. It's a matter of skill point cost. After about Roman training 10 it starts to become cheaper to raise melee or spears and javelin or sling together. For starting it's better to do Roman training since it also gives resistance effects according to Slarty. There are also trainers available for the normal weapons training if you want to spend money that way.
  20. Most of the rats congreate around the swamps north of Vanarium. I just fought a bunch and as a sinlgeton they are nasty. At least you can walk around at 0 health while diseased and not die.
  21. I thought it was a cheat since you need knowledge of where the item is and how to get it without the big battle with Titus. It's like making items in Geneforge before getting the recipe. It's really helpful for a singleton since it increases beast circle levels and allows you to charm beasts when you face large groups of them. The spell is also perfect for dealing with basilisks now that all the protection versus petrification items are only +80%. I rarely get through a straight fight without a reload.
  22. Back up the game. The editor works by replacing an existing script in the script file of the game with a modified one. When you now play the game and talk to the cook in Fort Monastary's kitchen, there should be extra dialog options that will allow you to improve your characters. Be sure to back up your existing game and saved game files. Sometimes it doesn't work and you don't want to have to start all over downloading the game.

  24. Go back to Fort Draco and get the quest to investigate the mines to the north. After you successfully finish the quest, you will get orders allowing you into Formello.
