  1. In Soviet Russia, Rebels support the Democratic Party! The above sentence gives my opinion that this is very Americentric, and that I'm a Democrat-Rebel.
  2. The poll is incomplete. There are a large amount of parties not available, and there are many sides (Awakened, Trakovites, Rising, etc.) not represented. Personally, I side with the Rebels because without them, the oppression would continue, the Trakos not existing. Stir the people, get the monotony out of their mind, make the majority demand freedom, that should create a better alternative then either of them. Although Trakovism wouldn't be a bad idea either, and can be generated in the masses via escalation and continued warfare. Something like England's Parliament.
  3. Because technically those little lines aren't land at all, they're there to make the world look bigger. There's not any actual space between the zones, or extremely little. Besides, you get ambushed enough in the regular zones.
  4. No, please. The rations system was one of my least favorite features from Exile. Besides, would this affect the creations too? I'd imagine eight party members would hork down a lot of food. Not to mention that Lifecrafters can use their pools to heal themselves.
  5. That would definitely be fun, but I'm afraid that it wouln't happen. It would take far to much extra work on Jeff's side.
  6. I don't know. Giving Jeff a million bucks is pretty low on my list of things to do if I get rich. Pay to get through college, start a business, invest in the US and Microsoft, buy a nice house somewhere... Eventually I would pay a fair amount, a hundred thousand dollars, to Jeff for all current games and all future games. Hmmm...
  7. He probably would, if only as a hobby. That, and supporting his family (daughter).
  8. Quote: Originally written by Iffy will bring you warm fuzziness.: Quote: and the completion of the trilogy. Actually this is a trilogy and 2/3. And Avernum in two trilogies! Hmm, more canisters that increase stats would be nice. Or mean. Or inbetween. Hey that rhymed! Ok, bad spam. If you use the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, you will see that there is in fact five to a trilogy.
  9. Adding romance would be a hit to the child factor, as parents are less likely to buy something like what you speak of. Which would be a major blow to the Honourable Spiderweb Software Company's funds. My only wish is for continued quality in gameplay, hopefully increased plot quality, and the completion of the trilogy.
  10. I hate to say it, but I have to agree with both of you on this issue. The Shapers are merely power hungry tyrants, who have tricked themselves, or atleast their lower agents, into believing their lies. Meanwhile, the Rebels do bicker, but in a way much better way than kindergarteners. It's actually rather democratic. They still have a lot of reforming to due though. And they sure aren't aspiring to be Trakovites. The Trakovites are nothing more then idealists, and the only way to obtain their goal is to destroy Shaping all together. Which would also create a humanitarian problem, as the food production of the Known World suddenly plunges, creating famine.
  11. Lifecrafter, Infiltrator, and Servile are all good starter characters. I'd go for the Lifecrafter personally, the idea of having up to eight monsters in your army is awesome.
  12. Quote: Originally written by Thoughts in Chaos: The majority of the Rebels are not canister-mad, but their leaders or most powerful members (With the possible exception of Gretchen) are. Or, they have the almost racial madness of the Drakons. And, if they aren't too addicted to canisters, they won't hesitate to distribute them among the "lesser" soldiers. By the way, what drives you to put quotation marks around "shortage"? All of the highest leaders, Greta not being one of the highest leaders, have used many a canister. Litalia, the leader of the Humans, seems to have recovered from her addiction, proving it possible. I would not be surprised if she started some sort of rehabilitation center after the Rebellion. The Drakons on the other hand, we have always seen them at war or preparing for it, not unlike Sparta. They are not the Rebels I support, but anyways, I'd hope that societal pressure and peace time would force a change in the race of Drakons to make a more practical deviant. After all, if all they can do is make war then they will be useless. It's natural selection. You're second to last sentence is rather interesting. While having a powerful army is nice, why would they need it? It would most likely just destabilize the leaders power. As for shortage being in quotes, it's due to their most likely not being a true shortage after the Rebellion. After the war, I see the Drakons and Humans/Serviles creating atleast two different nations. The Drakons would either try to evolve to the point where their only purpose isn't war, or they enslave the humans and serviles to sustain themselves. From their, there would be fracturing into Drakonian tribes that were in constant war. In summary, the Drakons have to change for the Rebellion to have a positive future. Forgive me, it is late, and I realize that I rambled in this post. Oh well.
  13. This is the mediocre work I was speaking of in the other thread, Iffy.
  14. Do you really think the majority of Rebels are canister-mad? Besides, after a certain point use of more canisters is not necessary for the masses. Honestly, if there could be a constant "shortage" of puresteel, it would do the Rebellion a load of good.
  15. Quote: Originally written by Thoughts in Chaos: But that's still not good! To learn - or more like receive - great power with no effort is a path to thousands of irresponsible superpowerful idiots. However, the Rebellion has done a good job of regulating canister use. There's always a shortage you see, and as such you either have to spend an obscene amount of money, kill someone, or do some difficult task to get one. Now, after the Rebellion succeeds, it is unlikely this shortage would continue, but if someone could realize this and implement it in the new Terrestia it would really help general sanity remain.
  16. Quote: Originally written by Iffy will bring you warm fuzziness.: Quote: Barzites (embrace the power of evolution you fools!). That must be why you like mass madness Not cool Iffy. FYI, if everyone is insane then the definition of sanity is changed. The Barzites are good, but the tradeoff is rather extreme. Personally, the Rebels seem like one of the better sides, giving power in a meritocratic sort of way, and give greater liberties to the masses. It's just their ruling party that's messed up, as power, both here on Earth and Terrestia, corrupts.
  17. Radiance supposedly helps fight undead. Not very useful, don't bother. Vampiric Touch is more useful however, and takes life from your opponent and gives it to you.
  18. The questions are devent quality, but it's not nearly enough. 1. What is your favorite with-the-shapers character? Miranda 2. What is your favorite Rebel Character? Litalia 3. What faction do you agree with most? Rebels 4. What is your favorite spell? Daze/Strong Daze 5. What is your favorite creation? Drayk 6. How would you rate this game from 1-10 Ninteen minus fourteen divided by two minus five plus two equals a letter n.
  19. Of course I name my creations. That doesn't mean I get attached to a bunch of numbers and pixels though. However, it's usually in my best interest to keep my creations alive until the rollover into the next chapter where I can Shape better creations to take their place.
  20. I would actually beg to differ. It would not be any fun with a wizard. The game would either be to easy for him, or insanely hard for the others. It's all in the name of balance, my friend. As for an average character, that's also unbalanced. If you don't have restrictions, you could easily make a character like your Wizard, with only a slight disadvantage in comparison. As for my opinions, the basic three should definitly be kept, maybe the Guardian/Warrior given a little bonus to compete with the Servile. The Shocktrooper, also, should either go or be given a bonus similar to the Guardian/Warrior. Perhaps a good amount of mechanics and leadership? The Servile, the solid muscle machine, the tank. Definitly a keeper, especially since it gives you different text occasionally. Adds to the replayability.
  21. Warriors are inferior to more superior classes like the Infiltrator, the Lifecrafter, and the Servile. Just because it has a sword and bashes things doens't mean it's the best.
  22. Why did this degenerate into yet another thread about the ebul Drakons? Seriously, can't you put it to rest?
  23. If you think in game terms, Shaping requires a lot of concentration, or the creation will not have a lung, brain, or head. Shaping in combat would require extreme focus and dedication, not something to be learned from a canister or a quick Shaper lesson.
