  1. Short scenario. It's a shoddy first effort, but it was actually charming up until the incredibly creepy dialogue with the blacksmith and the curvacious tavern patron. I can't tell whether or not it was intended to be humorous, but I sincerely hope it was. The scenario is actually unbeatable due to an overlong string error. I had to alter the scripts to enable victory. Honestly, this scenario could have had potential with some more polish, less creepy dialogue, and, at the very least, an appropriate encounter with the villain. I don't like rating scenarios poorly, but I'd really have liked to see some more effort. Designing scenarios takes time. If you don't put that effort in, then what's the point of having people play it? [rating]Poor[/rating]
  2. I made a few changes and (hopefully) fixed a few minor bugs that my testers missed. I'm still looking for someone who can convert the scenario for MACs and possibly upload it to one of the scenario directories. I updated the original post for v1.0.1. I'll also include it here: The Dead are Revolting
  3. The difference between the two is that the Shark contest focused on restricting elements of design while the Randomized scenario contest focused on giving designers a jumping off point and the challenge to fit each random element into a scenario.
  4. Blades of Avernum has enough restrictions as is without adding more, in my opinion. I'd rather not make designing a scenario more frustrating than it already is.

I switched to MSE after Avast! thoroughly screwed my system and almost turned it into a smoldering wreck. The SW community is rather tech-saavy, and my track record at searching for things online is not great. Thus, I thought I'd ask you guys: Which anti-virus software would you recommend I use? I'm looking for something that's low maintenance, works quietly in the background without eating up a ton of resources, is effective, and is free. Any help would be greatly appreciated here. Why would something that amazing ever be free?
  6. This is why it's important to research products before you buy them.
  7. This is what I want done to my body when I die. I want to float over children's birthday parties and drop religious pamphlets on their lawn.
  8. Are you one of the few hypothetical people who still plays this ancient game from time to time? Does the idea of a new scenario still send torrents of blood rushing to your fifth extremity? Then come play THE LAST BLADES OF AVERNUM SCENARIO EVER MADE! It's got combat. It's got graphics. It's got words. It's got more words. If you like words and more words stuck together uncomfortably in incoherent sentences then peanut wumpergoose flabberstan fun very! Are you concerned that you wont have a level appropriate party to play this scenario? It's recommended for first level heroes! Don't have enough time to experience this glorious masterpiece? Kill your boss and you wont have to ever go back to your job, dummy! Didn't think of that, did you? Now you don't have no excuses to not play this scenario! I've personally played through this scenario a million times and I still cry about it at night because I know nothing I produce will ever be as beautiful as what I've accomplished here. Until someone can graciously host it and convert it for MAC users, go here to download the scenario for Windows. The password is "zango".
  9. Now that I have a better idea of what goes into designing a scenario, I would be up for this, I think. I second the break stuff.
  10. It's been nearly a year since I started the last scenario that I'm very close to finishing. Each time I came back to it, I discovered new ways to flesh it out, work out problems that seemed impassable before, and simply improve it.
  11. I would consider it depending on how much was left done, but I don't think you'd like the result. It would likely be best to shelve your idea until you can come back to it later.

If the first movie/game/book creates a large following, you can cash in with lazy sequels and merchandise, unless you make something so outrageously bad that you're laughed out of Hollywood (e.g The Last Airbender).
  15. I was actually curious about this. How often do you water your kitchen salesman? I'm trying to follow the directions that came with the complimentary pamphlet, but it just doesn't seem like enough and I'm worry he's going to dry out. I can't lose another one, not again.
  16. As someone who has been using Notepad for years and always just manually inserted the line breaks because he is a neanderthal, thank you for showing me this.
  17. Imagine a streamlined roguelike with less variability and Michael Bay special effects. Your character comes equipped with a wide variety of demon-seeking murder missiles to make all the bad men pop like loot-filled piñatas.

The atmosphere is also even further removed from Diablo 1 than Diablo 2 was.
  19. Speaking of Diablo 3, I had a Best Buy gift card, so I just went out and purchased it. It came with three guest passes, so if anyone wants one just PM me.
  20. I'm not too fond of squirrels, but they can be pretty entertaining if you catch them in the right moment. I remember watching a couple of squirrels bang repeatedly on my window. I don't know what their motives were, but I assume it was to rile up my terrier, who spent the better part of every day barking his lungs out at every tree rat that ventured onto the porch. There's also this squirrel that likes lounging in the sun on my porch and on a nearby tree branch.
  21. The only memes I like involve dogs, because dogs are adorable when they aren't barking at everything. Click to reveal..
  22. I don't understand the last option. Some of the most highly lauded RPGs simulate warfare.
  23. Video games are more of a service these days than a product. It used to be that when you bought a game, you owned it. By extension, you could then do anything you wanted with that game short of reproducing it and selling it like your own original property. This freedom has become scarce with major titles. It's a pity, really, since a lot of great games have come from modding.
  24. Thanks. I sent it to the email in your profile, if that's the one you're still using.
