  1. The ending was just enough of "the final chapter" to make a permanent end to the Avernum universe with just enough material left over that he could change his mind and produce a sequel in the decades to come. Basically, "lets not burn all the bridges to the past"
  2. You end up with a lot of potentially useful items that way. Eventually you need to triage and dump most of them. (Either sell or stockpile)
  3. you weren't joking. i went back to that efreet and bought everything he sold and i have under 3000 gold left. i could have spent that also as he seems to sell unlimited fine steel razerdisks but i got bored of that and left.
  4. After shaping for myself two drakon companions, I went to speak to the drakons who were very happy to see me despite my walking in with two enslaved compatriots. That is probably one of the most odd encounters
  5. Also I posted this in general by mistake, can a mod move it over to the A2CS forum? EDIT: thanx
  6. Yeah it's A2CS, and I forgot about that efreet. I think I'll clean him out. Thanx
  7. If hypothetically, I was to cheat my way through buying skills, in the beginning of the game and I reached the end game (just about to enter angierach and I didn't destroy the portal yet) and now I maxed out all my goods and filled up my junk bag all the way.....Is there anything that I can do to blow through money so I can sell my junk bag stuff? Looting is very disappointing when you just leave everything behind, especially the endgame wads of cash everywhere. I have to admit that had I realized how much money was sitting around I wouldn't have wasted all that time building up my cash in 500 gold increments.
  8. open up the game folder and there will be two application files. In A2CS they are Avernum 2 and Avernum 2 DirectX. I'm assuming that in the Avernum 4 folder it would be Avernum 4 and Avernum 4 DirectX. select the DirectX application.
  9. also there was a gold cap of 25,000 for cheating. the actual gold cap was 30,000 which was the only way to magically upgrade weapons which cost 30,000. I don't recall what the effect was, but it added + to the stats.
  10. I had this issue on A2CS, but when I switched to the DirectX version it went back to normal speed.
  11. Nope, I meant from the current version of the old Avernum 2. Most problems tend to sort themselves out with a fresh install. Then if whatever serial you have doesn't work to register the game, email support with your info
  12. Uninstall and reinstall from a fresh download. Let us know if the issue persists after that
  13. "Oh, you wanted to attack THIS turn? Why didn't you say so"
  14. If you place the force barrier on your party surrounding the doomguard you will still be able to attack it while keeping it from splitting. After it's killed just step out of the barrier and continue on
  15. And a level 30 archer should have at least 7 added levels to strength through the base stat leveling.
  16. There has to be some sort of genetic quirk to create a monster of a fighter, dual wielding two handed weapons. Or a mod!
  17. Or make it that characters can only use items that are in their quick use slot during combat. This would leave their unified inventory separate and avoid abuse like having every character using the same wand or weapon
  18. Took me a while to figure that one out also. I saw that there was a reward for three bugs but I couldn't get a second one. Then I deposited the first and decided to try again and it worked. You can only have one bug at a time apparently. After the bonus I tried destroying it for XP and that worked even though usually you can't do both.
  19. Just to throw out a point, there is a difference between posting "I hope you die!" "die a painful death!" and "I'm going to burn your house down and murder your family!"
  20. Sorry, I was just following each new post without seeing how it fit with the whole conversation. Partially due to the mobile interface and partially due to it taking place over several months.
  21. And then you can express your appreciation by destroying it for xp
  22. You could change the autosaves so they take up two slots. One would save every time you enter a new region and the other would save at set intervals. This would allow saves closer to the action as well as a zone reset if you get stuck.
  23. Check your quest list to see if you still have it. Sometimes if you're clicking fast through people you can miss when you complete the quest
