  1. you're right, i forgot about Avernum 3. but even if you replace New Game with Avernum 3 the timeline stays the same. Actually this time line can be rewritten to say Minimum Time To Remake Geneforge. Avadon 3 and Avernum 3 are pretty much the only definite games in the pipeline, with either a new game or a geneforge remake following it. whichever way you count it there is still a multi year wait for a remake. unless he wins the lottery and retires!
  2. simplest answer is to open it up in microsoft paint and and resave as a .bmp
  3. a year or so for Avadon 3, two years for New Game: The RPG, and then a further two years for Geneforge: The Remake. i think i'm better off just getting used to it. at least i'll now understand all the talk about the later parts of the early games. that's pretty much what sparked my interest in playing it again. everyone was having discussions and talking about the sholai and i was like who? i only met the one sholai in 4 or 5 who is an ambassador and i had no idea who the rest were. well, here goes! at least i can look forward to graphics improving as i journey.........unlike some others here! (That's really a torment runthrough!)
  4. having followed all the recent interest into the early geneforge games i realized that i barely played 1-3 and only finished 4 and 5. so i downloaded my humble bundle package, installed geneforge and was told that i need to up my resolution to 800x600 and 16 bit color. Then it didn't start. i opened it up in compatibility mode for win xp using 16 bit color and changed the resolution and was able to start the game. and ow! is there any hack to update the resolution past 800x600? or do i have to tough up and just get used to it?
  5. it says that there are hundreds of samples in there and without knowing what you are looking for you will never find it
  6. this was a particularly long drawn out battle with liberal usage of cheating to restore spell energy. between all the enemies in the previous rooms plus his multitude of "aides" and radiant null bugs, i was burning through energy at an incredible rate. How is this possible without cheating for energy?
  7. This started to drive me crazy during A2CS. Is the ivory skull only in Geneforge? I remember always finding it with the same graphic as the regular skull and noticing how easy it is to miss it. Is it a Geneforge exclusive? Or is it in Avernum also?
  8. that was quite entertaining. not truly unexpected, though I did laugh at part of the ending sequence, and so gained a new part to my signature.
  9. there also seems to be a considerable supply of uranium in the game. I picked up 4 or 5 bars (i sold a few and i'm not sure about the exact amount) after completing 2 of the 3 quests.
  10. I destroyed the portal but I had a few questions about the processes that were set in motion. There were three distinct phases in the destruction, hairline cracks placed in two pylons, setting up the test run, and finally using the onyx scepter to close the portal. The only step that seems to have no possible variations is the control room step, it is the only way to start the process of destroying there portal. 1. but what happens if only one pylon was chipped? 2. neither pylon is chipped? 3. what happens if you aren't carrying the onyx scepter, or if you leave without closing the portal?
  11. Those who don't read history are doomed to repost it.
  12. He's actually working on a new game called averforgeadon which will definitively solve this argument, once and for all.
  13. The ending was just enough of "the final chapter" to make a permanent end to the Avernum universe with just enough material left over that he could change his mind and produce a sequel in the decades to come. Basically, "lets not burn all the bridges to the past"
  14. You end up with a lot of potentially useful items that way. Eventually you need to triage and dump most of them. (Either sell or stockpile)
  15. you weren't joking. i went back to that efreet and bought everything he sold and i have under 3000 gold left. i could have spent that also as he seems to sell unlimited fine steel razerdisks but i got bored of that and left.
  16. After shaping for myself two drakon companions, I went to speak to the drakons who were very happy to see me despite my walking in with two enslaved compatriots. That is probably one of the most odd encounters
  17. Also I posted this in general by mistake, can a mod move it over to the A2CS forum? EDIT: thanx
  18. Yeah it's A2CS, and I forgot about that efreet. I think I'll clean him out. Thanx
  19. If hypothetically, I was to cheat my way through buying skills, in the beginning of the game and I reached the end game (just about to enter angierach and I didn't destroy the portal yet) and now I maxed out all my goods and filled up my junk bag all the way.....Is there anything that I can do to blow through money so I can sell my junk bag stuff? Looting is very disappointing when you just leave everything behind, especially the endgame wads of cash everywhere. I have to admit that had I realized how much money was sitting around I wouldn't have wasted all that time building up my cash in 500 gold increments.
