  1. What happens if I use 4/5 brooches to reach the surface. I assume my group is teleported to a less than ideal location with lots of fun things to fight. If that's the case, how do I remove the 5th brooch from my special item list? I'm at level 31, so the whole gaining lvls thing is pretty irrelevant; I'd rather have this last mission be as hard as possible.
  2. Sometimes I wonder if people actually care about stat points. Then I read something like this and know they do. Myself, if there was a recommended button to click, I would click it. I play these games to kill things and read, not to fiddle with stats and points and other snooze worthy stuff. That being said, if you're into the whole building thing, that's cool too.
  3. You missed the wishing well west of Alamaria, and merchants by Patricks tower. If you steal the coins from the well you get a negative 1 to reputation. Also, if you let the merchants be attacked near Patrick's tower you get -1.

  5. It would be nice if my characters weren't doing the conga every time they entered combat in the outdoors. In other words, why can't we set some sort of standard formation, say a square with two characters a couple spaces back?
  6. Yes, this whole not being able to hit thing is completely new. In the last few games you never miss.
  7. Thanks for the advise; I'll give it a try. I tend to increase things sorta in parallel to each other. That has worked in the previous games, but apparently not here. —————————————————————— It works! This game is super easy now. I feel so powerful! I am now hitting Slith Warriors at 85-95% after taking 4 points out of endurance and putting them into strength, and also transfering all quick action and dual wield points over to blade-master.
  8. So should I take some points out of endurance and put them into strength, and also take points out or hardiness/parry and put them into melee skill? As I said above, I have trouble hitting not just bosses, but the midlevel characters in a dungeon—for example, SLITH WARRIORS. I would appreciate it if someone that played on TORMENT posted a screen-shot of a ~level 17 character's stat sheet.
  9. I'm really getting tired of not being able to hit anything but the lowest level monsters in a dungeon. My characters are now level 17 and the only reason I am getting anywhere on Torment is because my mage and priest do reliable damage to enemies. I have chest armour on my two fighters with -15% to hit penalty, and also the penalty that comes from duel wielding, but no other penalties. Oh yeah, and I'm playing on Torment. I realize that Torment is supposed to be hard, and I wouldn't mind it if my fighters did only minimal damage to enemies, but I can't stand not hitting at all. The game really sucks, and is boring at times because my fighters are nothing more than meat shields, waving blades in the faces of their enemies. So, what I'm asking for is directions to posts, or advise on how to maximize hit chance. Here are my combat stats (both fighters are the same): Click to reveal..

  13. I don't pay much attention to the stats. Just bump up strength or intelligence depending on what type of character you have, and then forget the rest. The skill tree can be simplified too, by simply putting all points into a single column—in this case the left-most one.
  14. OMG; now that $28.00 I spent seems even worse.
  15. I'm having more trouble on torment in this game than in the previous ones. Rats and goblins seem way more powerful.

Also, why can't I set the default attack to magic for my priest or Mage? And, on initial thoughts, being expelled from the portal to some boring cavern under Fort Avernum was not all that great a change for Jeff to make. Does he really need these tutorial sections; I mean, the tutorials aren't even that informative.

  18. Visible movement grids are much worse than visible health bars. I admit that both grid and bar can be useful at times, but usually they just get in the way—until you become habituated to them that is.

  21. I prefer to not have health bars—and no grid.
  22. In my case it's a result of not caring what characters are named. This is especially true for fantasy books, as they often have horrendously convoluted character names.
