    Hello Ladies

On a related note I now have that vid's slogan stuck in my head. "Science it's a Girl thing. Science . . ." I guess one thing they got right was the focus on chemistry and physics stuff. The Biology boat is already filled with girls.

It was honestly Frances game to win until they decided that England was a threat. I had no intention of breaking the alliance with France before that point. I pretty much had the worst alliance ever with both Germany and France hemming me in. But thank you to everyone for playing.

Yeah, I didn't have enough left to stop him at Stalingrad, or push west. Apologies to my Turkish ally.
  6. I think it depends a lot on what you have used your card for in the past. I traveled down to California (from Canada) a few days ago and used my card here and there, but nobody at VISA called me. Unusual is the key word, I believe, not price.

While most of us got along, we had a few that it would have been better if we had just banned for good. I once had a DD group super mad at me because i decided to have my character go off and sleep during a major combat. I don't know, I found it funny. And besides, they all got slaughtered any way.
  8. That guy is a jerk. Respect in this case would be NOT turning the cat into something it wasn't. Cats I am sure have no desire to be helicopters. You want to Taxidermy the animal fine, but why change it. If you change it, and keep it around, you didn't have respect or love for the original, and therefore should not have had it. "Oh, I always loved Mom in life. In fact, I think now that she's dead I'll swap her head for a flower pot, yeah, that will be an awesome memorial"

I do play games to win most of the time, just not always. But it's the time spent with friends that I value not the game itself. I could think of numerous better things to do at times than playing Risk or Diplomacy again, but if everyone wants to do it I'm always game. I couldn't care less what the activity is, it's the people doing it that matter. I find that most people do not share this attitude, and instead say no to way too many opportunities. But if you say No enough times, people stop asking.

Why break the rules? Because most people follow them and therefore there is great benefit in doing the opposite. In my opinion, one of the funner things about board-games is just messing with people. I don't always play games to win, I play to create chaos among friends . . . and I must say it amuses me greatly. I mean, most games are pretty boring if played strictly by the book. I don't mean one needs to cheat, just do unconventional stuff to have an interesting game. I suppose I would call my playing style Chaotic Neutral. For example, I once let a friend and enemy in Risk get all of Asia just because it never happens and I found the idea amusing. I kept telling my ally (North America) that we should just "wait and see what happens" and that "there would be time to do something about it". Turns out there wasn't anything we could do about it, lol.

My thoughts: (I was Turkey) This is a very fun game. I played once before in person, but that wasn't so fun. I had a tough time remembering how pieces moved and exactly what can and cannot be done. On many occasions I second guessed myself because I didn't know what was possible from the opposing forces, and all those different coloured lines afterwards didn't help much. I also realized that the game doesn't count supply centres until the end of a year. I spent way too much time planning the last round because I thought it wouldn't matter if England got Munich—I thought that would be supply centre 17. But all around I enjoyed the game.

I would prefer France to just quit entirely, if that's possible, and leave the territories to whoever. It would at least mean speedy turns. I don't mind losing. BTW: Gunboat is a fun version of this game.

The best advice I ever received was to forget about writing a thesis and focus on writing papers in the same style that a journal would like them to be in. This takes the focus away from writing a book and puts the focus on writing chapters, which coincidentally is more or less how a thesis turns out in the end. I admit that if your individual research projects are not related in some way, this approach will be difficult, if not impossible. But if you can do it, the only thing you need to add to your thesis is an introduction and a discussion that ties everything together. Of course my advice is based on research in the natural sciences (Biology: Ecology) so you may be hindered by things I don't have to deal with. I wouldn't expand the paper at all. Short and to the point is a much better read than long and wandering. Ask your committee, I suppose.

Once you've got chapters and sections of chapters, then that's the outline for the detailed outline. Don't write a thesis, write papers.

So that means it's okay to drop racial slurs if I ever get in an argument with a black person? No matter what way you cut it, the metaphorical face has been smashed, whether or not you would continue smashing is irrelevant. A rock thrown is a rock thrown. Trenton said something very insulting. We can give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he didn't know it was insulting (which, let's be honest, he obviously did know), but after he was informed that it was insulting, he went and did it again. No, it's not OK, but it will happen. The natural reaction when hurt is to hurt back. People on the outside need to think about things they've said at one time or another to get back at someone; maybe they were crude remarks maybe more calculated, the point is, this [censored] happens. It's only a problem if its persistent and from the same person. For the slurs or hurtful phrases to change, and I am adamant that they will only change from one thing to another, we need to focus on accepting people and their choices. However, I doubt this change will come from "banning" words/thoughts/expressions. That only makes them stronger and more hurtful. 24. The Nephilim win because they have goblin allies. Also they can use long-bows, whereas the Sliths can use only javelins as ranged weapons. Moreover, the Nephil, being mammals have the advantage of being warm-blooded which allows them to move around in the colder caves of Avernum. The Sliths in comparison are restricted to the warmest locales.
