  1. To be a bit adversarial myself, I'll say that your posts often come off as "I like the sound of my own voice; let's hear more of that...". Just sayin.
  2. Dikiyoba is correct: just ask if you don't know. But also, it's prob better to respond in a more neutral way too.
  3. This debate—it is a debate— is quite interesting. I don't have the pateince two write as much as you people do, but I will also point out that there are definently books with very strong female characters... classics even. For example, Anna Karenina. The original post was about new books and movies, I guess, but anyway...
  4. What about the "Worst Witch" book series and TV series? The main character seemed pretty gangster in that one, although the majority of the characters where female, so maybe it doesn't count? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Worst_Witch
  5. I just remember one of the Harry Potter movies where Harry, Ron, and Hermione are falling to their deaths, and Potter is all like "[censored], I don't know the spell to stop us from smashing our bodies onto the rocks"; but Hermione is all like "well, damn Potter, I actually payed attention in class." And she saves them all. It's just so obvious (to me) that without her, Potter wouldn't have gone, or done anything of value in that series. BTW: At my university we had a Quidditch tournament—with Snitch, broom sticks, and all that. lol. Was pretty cool.
  6. Harry Potter—he sucks. It's basically a story of him bumbling around, finding things, getting into trouble, and then having Hermione fix everything. IMO

  8. Очень круто! у меня нет родители что говорит по-русский, но у меня есть много Друзья в университете. I have learned a lot in previous months, but Russian has a case system that makes things kinda complicated. The language has genders too, but that's not a problem; the problem is that nouns and adjectives get very different endings depending on what kind of sentence you want to write. There are six cases in total. I'm very lucky because I go to a university that has a massive percentage of international students—the business program is almost completely international. And it's impossible to walk around campus without seeing a few Russians. And I mean that... it is impossible—small university... huge number of international students! Also, I recently switched Facebook, Safari, my OS and Russian Facebook (VK) to Russian language.
  9. That's cool. Are your parents from that part of the world?
  10. oh jeez guys, kinda lame... just sayin
  11. The early days included quite a few posters that were real Tools, in my opinion.
  12. I've been here 13 years!! OMG And another few years on the icon board, or whatever it was called. Not that I was ever that active—really haven't posted anything more than a few sentences in any one post—but it's correct that other thangs be getting in the way. I decided not to play Avadon 2 and might not play any future Spidweb games—!!!! It just takes up too much time... or my interests have changed... or I'm supa cool now, and wasn't back then—prob that.
  13. Ой это плохой тоже. That's too bad It's a really cool language. I had a Ukrainian gf and started learning Russian for whatever reason. She's long gone, but I'm happy with my new hobby. BTW: Who here can roll their r's—rrrrrrrrrrrrr. Cuze I couldn't until today—so happy now
  14. Hi all, Just wondering if we have any Russian language speakers here? I'm studying Russian seriously these days, and was curious if anyone on here speaks the language.

  16. Also, there's *Tinder* for your phone.
  17. No, everyone still likes compliments. And it's pretty obvious what good ones are—delivered with sincerity, and about things that the other person cares about. It's pretty easy to tell what the other person is interested in... just have to listen... and if you like it, say so. What I meant is too much of a good thing gets boring and awkward—don't see how that's a "fancy 10 dollar word".
  18. Try out a few more shifts and see what happens. One shift isn't much. First-impressions are usually somewhat correct, in my experience, but who knows. Ya need more data I'd say. Can't conclude much based on a single shift—other than you liking here a lot, which is totally valid, I agree, but see what happens next. She's not going anywhere, right? I admit, I have no idea how strongly you feel. But for me, if I feel strongly, I follow that path until all the bridges burn and the rocks shatter underfoot. And yeah, most def EVERYONE likes compliments (no exceptions), but the frequency, type, etc can be awkward or unwanted. Also, don't assume anything about what the other person is thinking. Essentially, if you want this go for it, but weigh the importance of the job etc.
  19. I guess it's more so an issue of what the consumers want to study and pay for. Universities just provide stuff that sells to students...
