  1. What OS are you on and what browser are you using?
  2. Try to copy and paste 4900.bmp: Hope it works.
  3. Try The Gimp. It's open source, around 10 MB in the precompiled version and runs on XP. download The Gimp
  4. Quote: Where is the editor application? Is it in the Source folder? Odile, you said in your first post: 'when I use the editor'. Well, in order to use the editor, you have to click on the editor.exe, so you seem to know where that is. The editor.exe = the editor application Move the editor.exe into the Data folder. You find the Data folder by opening your Blades of Avernum folder.
  5. I guess that your OS is Windows XP. Try this link for support: How to troubleshoot program compatibility issues in Windows XP
  6. 'Whoever' is Stareye, and as far as I know he has searched high and low for the bug, but couldn't find it. He's on a Mac, the problem does not show up on that OS.
  7. Don't know what type of mouse you have, but if it is a simple one with a ball underneath, it might need cleaning. Ask your Dad to do that for you.
  8. Win95 can't read long path names. I don't know, if there's a patch for this problem, but it does make me angry that spiderweb advertizes BoA for Win95 on their site without giving a hint how to solve this.
  9. Quote: they're at level 8 rather than level 7 Thanks for all your replies. The walls were level eight, yes. What puzzled me, was, that they had been like that for hours without causing problems, while I figured out , how to do hilly terrain. The problem became visible only, when I got angry and added two tiny horizontal walls to hide the imperfections of my hills.
  10. There's definitely something wrong with the walls in the windows version. Look at this: Now this is what it is supposed to be in the editor:
  11. Well, you are not burdened with a language that capitalizes half of its words; so perhaps you do not feel that same deep urge to simplify things once in a while.
  12. Quote: But when he's buggered people around like that, he loses a certain amount of that right. Whatever went wrong in the past, now, in the presence, all this might simply be too much. I don't think that Mariann Vogel works full time, how could she. Jeff is programming, so the bulk of the office work is on Linda Strout's shoulders. And though she is universally disliked, it's only fair to say that it is a lot of work for just one person. Those who suggest withdrawing the BoE scenarios from Spiderweb probably point in the right direction. Let them be hosted some place else, and let Spidweb just give a link to that site.
  13. If compatibility mode doesn't work for you, there's also a compatibility kit downloadable from Microsoft that supports older games. As far as I know, there are quite a few people here on Win XP who do not experience problems. It should be possible to adapt the system. Nevertheless I agree with Xan. Win 2000 Pro is preferable.
  14. I find that very irritating. What you can't do for instance is place a bed next to a wall and have a wall hanging behind it. The hanging is a 'terrain tile', so it doesn't work. Or a chest and a light source above it. Doesn't work. Or a chair and a picture on the wall above it. Doesn't work. Of course there are ways around it, but it's limiting what you can do in a room.
  15. Hey! She could have been using someone else's computer, couldn't she.
  16. Hi, Ruthie! How's it going? Do you have internet now?
  17. *Grin* Use the edit button in your own posts, not in those of other people, and it will work.
  18. I should think so, yes. I know I did, I'm german too. And minor, don't doublepost, people don't like that here, use the edit button instead. And have fun and enjoy your stay.
  19. You will have to use the english code, but of course your dialogues and texts can be in german, or any other language you choose. Don't worry, the manual is not that hard to read, and if you don't understand something, just ask. There are people here from Germany and Switzerland, so you'll get help.
  20. A very, very easy way out of these difficulties would be for Jeff to add a few empty files to the sound folder within the BoA .exe. Just ten or twenty, empty, but numbered, that could be used for custom sounds. But I doubt that it will happen.
  21. For Mac, see here: Sound for Mac For PC, here: Sound for PC
  22. EditPad Lite is a text editor for Windows and Linux that's free for non-commercial use. It does not limit the maximum length of a single line, settings such as word wrap, line numbering and auto indent can be made for each file type individually, and it reads and writes UNIX (LF only) and Mac (CR only) text files (in addition to DOS/Win CR+LF files, of course).
  23. Wordpad works well for me, when I turn off the line break. I've had no problems so far.
  24. It's not a big problem indoors, but it's frustrating in outdoor battles not to be able to pick up javelins or arrows, because they won't merge.
  25. I have that same problem with javelins.
