  1. Spidweb used to have a link that helped solve XP-compatibility problems somewhere on their website, but I can't find it right now. So I'm giving you a link to an exe-file I've saved. SkeleTony, a forum member, came upon it a couple of years ago. The Exile series should run fine after installing this, at least that's what I've heard from other people. XPFiles.exe
  2. Quote: I would get a message saying that graphics 2000 wasn't found and a message saying that warriorsgrove.bas couldn't be found and opened. That triggers a memory. That very same complaint came up a couple of times when BoA was new. You might like to check the Tech Support Forum; search for posts in 2004 and move on from there. I think it was something about not creating a subfolder for the editor, it has to be placed as such into the data folder.
  3. Quote: I was more referring to the depth of the overall graphics, not just the characters. Misunderstanding then. The character graphics though, well, this is what I mean: opposing this: The older one is alive and sparkling compared to the new ones.
  4. Quote: Uncle Av isn't there anymore. He's disappeared all of a sudden. You can't call him. You can't e-mail him. You can't send him a letter. You can't reach him at all. I know what you mean. He's dead and won't return. I don't blame Jeff Vogel. It would take an exceptionally gifted graphics artist to project Exile/Avernum's atmosphere onto the new engine. And I don't agree that the new animations are more realistic and have more depth. Instead I wondered why they appeared to be so flat and lacking 'presence', until I went to the graphics folder. A vast amount of time has probably been dedicated to master working with Poser, but a feeling for dynamic movement is something you can't learn. You have to have it. None of the three is a professional in this area, so we should appreciate that they do the best they can with limited resources. It's not so bad after all, though the old graphics were a lot better.
  5. It is a jewel, yes. Triggered by someone who asked for help with 'the Hak-Kahz ruin thingie', which he then changed to 'Khaz-Haz Ruins scenario'. He was playing 'The Za-Khazi Run'.
  6. Quote: i've been trying to type really fast to keep up with my messenger That's what I thought. It's not a big thing.
  7. Don't get mad at me, Lifecrafter, but reading this I remembered SkeleTony who, trying to decode a post like yours once wrote the following (which I saved because I still enjoy it, though Ephesos thought it a bit too strong): Quote: I hope you do not have some issue with your computer someday and attempt to get help with such laziness... Party of the Gods: "HAPL!!!11 My wandils or locking upped!! I can't no wot 2 doing!" Tech support: "Uh...are you asking about 'WINDOWS'? Party of the Gods: "YESS!!11 My wondals are stukked in my minotaur nd I can't not shoot down my PC!!" Tech Support:"Uh...okay, these are the LINUX boards first of all and secondly..."minotaur"?!" Party of the Gods:"Ok...how do i use Linx to fix my windals?!? ~PLXZ!! Stuck in screen adn turning my minotor on and off won't fixor my PC!!!" Tech Support:"LINUX, not "linx", is an operating system sir. You use WINDOWS operating system. Therefore I suggest you take this over to the Windows Tech Support forums..." Party of the Gods: "Okay...how do I got there? I live in IL. PLX HALP!!!"
  8. One is in a box in one of those spider infected rooms you pass shortly after you've come down into the lower level, one is in one of the pools, a third in a secret niche at the north of the goblin infected area. The fourth one across the lava can be a little difficult should your party's health points not be up to walking the fire, but you don't need it anyway.
  9. This topic has the links you need to solve your problem: Topic: Exile 3 cannot Run
  10. Quote: 2. To order by Mail or FAX: There is an order form in the game folder. Print it out and fill it out. Then send it with a check, money order, or postal money order in US currency (made out to Spiderweb Software) to: Spiderweb Software PO Box 85659 Seattle, WA 98145-1659 USA Another option would be a paypal account (and if you don't know how to set that up, people here may be able to help): Quote: 4. To order by Paypal: Send payment to spidweb@aol.com. Then E-mail us at spidweb@spiderwebsoftware.com telling us you have ordered. Give your name, address, what products you want, and your registration codes (if any)
  11. Quote: Though i still need to find some nice jungle terrain... Can't you adapt some of Joaquin Soto's trees or bushes to your needs? You'll find them in The Louvre. Ephesos had a 'cleaned up' png-version of some of them: Topic:Graphics request .
  12. The Louvre hosts custom graphics for BoA. It also has a section that explains how to create them. edit: for monster stats or terrrain/item definitions read the manual.
  13. Didn't you save before you went down into the tunnel in Formello? So that you could just return to that save?
  14. Quote: and then tried to recall my party but was told I could not do so indoors If the game tells you that you are indoors, it seems that you are in town/dungeon area. The ice hydra couldn't have attacked you, if you weren't. You need to get outdoors again. The editor can help you to leave town/dungeon. edit: if your party is not in combat mode while being attacked, you are in some dungeon.
  15. One of your characters has been dumbfounded. Your fighters won't show much reaction to that, but your mage/priest loses the ability to cast higher level spells for a while. It wears off after some time. As your priest gains levels, he will get access to a mind curing spell.
  16. How, Jeff Vogel is very obviously a man who is learning by doing. I can assure you that a lot of technical imbalances are smoothed out nicely in the Avernum series, which is probably one of the reasons why he did the remake. You'll notice more of such flaws as you'll progress in the game. And yet, it is a beautiful thing. A remake always loses some of the freshness and vitality a story had when it was newly created. But, to enjoy this beauty, you've got to play the darn thing.
  17. There is not much on Exile 2 in the forum header, only that one walkthrough by Gamepu. I knew I had a link to a helpsite stored somewhere, and I found it again. Exile 2 Maybe this could be added to the header?
  18. Quote: Just where do I head from Draco area to find someone to ID my items? Formello. I haven't tried to push you in that direction, because...oh well, you'll see for yourself when you get there. You'll want to reach Formello safely, so you should feel up to the occasional bands of nephilim and bandits that you may encounter. Doing the nephil quest first though is usually advisable.
  19. Quote: casting Identify Not in E1/2.
  20. Quote: ef has you beaten there *chuckles* She has indeed. By a quarter of a centaury.
  21. Quote: most towns have one That's his problem. Fort Draco hasn't. You'll get your things identified in Formello later on. Well, a low level party is a low level party. Not every one needs the best of weapons and armour right away. There is a lot of stuff you can do just wearing leather armour and wielding a bronze sword. If your pole fighter feels stuck with his stone tipped spear, he'll have to wait and learn to make the best use of it. You don't need that much money right away. Collect the coins your enemies drop; buy little, you'll find most of the things you'll need; train a little, if you can afford it. Everything else comes with time. edit: remember to bless and hasten at least one of your fighters, have one mage know 'fireball', and your priest cast 'wound'. That helps.
  22. Some shops will only sell and not buy, some only buy the kind of stuff they sell (if they sell weapons, they'll buy weapons from you, but not armour), some buy all the stuff you have. There should be two shops keepers close to the trainer in Fort Draco who'll buy weapons and armour from you, for everything else you'll have to wait until you reach Formello. edit: The Mystic was faster
  23. There's space enough to walk a bit, and that's all that's needed. When you start moving, monsters move too.
