  1. If this is the only file you lost, get it from here: file 762
  2. With Win 2k right-click on the bottom taskboard, just left of where you see the time. A menue pops up and you'll find the Taskmanager there. Click on it. You'll see the programs and the processes that are currently running. As an afterthought: if you haven't been to a porn site, have you gone to a crack site? They sometimes give you little gifts as well.
  3. Better not. Nethergate is very special, almost a small piece of art. If it sells or not is really not that important.
  4. Could you give more details?
  5. With a bit of luck you will not need a complete reformating. Overinstalling Windows might do the trick and get the missing files back. As a suggestion: next time when you feel unsure what to do with a program you want to be rid of, ask for help on the 'CoA' board before you delete it.
  6. Zephyr, programs come with their own files, but they also share files with each other. When you delete instead of deinstall, you delete shared files as well, files that are needed and used by other applications. And that is probably why you meet problems now.
  7. How did you rid of your desktop themes, Zephyr? Did you deinstall or delete them?
  8. Windows XP is known to have compatibility problems with games. You might try the following download: Windows Application Compatibility Toolkit 3.0
  9. Archmage, I tried, but I confront an upload problem that I don't understand. The upload stops after 123 KB every time. I can't help you without solving that problem first.

    Resolution?

Wasn't a screen showing up in the beginning asking you if you want to change resolution or not? I've run every game in 1024x768, never experienced problems. So did you change the resolution to 800x600 before you started to have problems?
  11. I never heard nor read of this bug before. Try downloading the game again, maybe some files are corrupted.

TGM, I'm not sure. Though if your computer is at the minimum end of required settings, you might try transfering everything you do not need immediately to tapes or CD-Roms. Create as much saving space as you are able to. What are your computer settings? Would updating drivers or DirectX help?
  13. Since you seem to avoid asking for friends' or family's help - have you been surfing sites you shouldn't have visited? If you have to get rid of that Xupiter-thing before you can confront your father, I'll help you.
  14. As Felwynne already said those game sites for cheat codes have lots of nasty little pop-ups that can give you all kinds of surprises. Something like that must have happened. You can download spybot which will probably solve this problem at least. spybot The download section is at the bottom of the page. Removes spyware and trojans.
  15. Surfing is risky. Try a firewall. Seems someone set a cookie and changed your starter site. That happens.
  16. 64meg Ram may slow your computer's performance, but do not make files disappear. By definition anti-virus-scanners do not show trojans. For that you need a special program. But: if you delete too often without proper uninstalling, you lose a lot of tiny dll-files after a while. Programs which need those files have to do without and come up with all kinds of queer reactions. Your directory gets messed up and doesn't understand orders any more. It's no big thing, Zephyr. I wouldn't trust people who never crash their systems, they must be rather unimaginative. I remember well what happened when I started to play around with BIOS. Thank God for friends who come at 3 o'clock in the morning to save and heal your precious baby.
  17. I saw it coming. So - don't panic. I cannot count the times I've crashed my damn computer, before I learned to handle it. You are still able to boot. Save everything you specially want to keep, on floppy or burn CD-Roms. That done take a heart, get the help of someone who knows how to do it and is willing to show you and format and partition your HD. Don't wait too long. It will get worse, if you don't take action. Zephyr, it's time-consuming, but it is also fun. Everything is so clean and fast and new afterwards. You'll see.
  18. You need the special DirectX-version for WinXP which you can download from Microsoft. XP has quite a few compatibility problems, especially with games. There are toolkits available: Windows Application Compatibility Toolkit 3.0

If it is a compatibility problem the zip-file will not help solve it. You might try the following: Windows Application Compatibility Toolkit 3.0 download the toolkit and follow its suggestions step by step.

Kenny, WinXP is problematic with older games. If DirectX doesn't solve your problem there are patches and service packs ready for download that improve XP's compatibility. Try the microsoft site again and see what you can come up with.

    profile deleted

I got a like message, which said that my profile was corrupt and blank and gave the number 2475.
  23. The only DirectX-version that is compatible with WinNT 4.0 is DirectX 3.0a If you want to use that you'll also have to download the Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6. The DirectX does not function properly without the Service Pack. Good luck!
  24. Naja, I checked the links. They work for me.
  25. Don't try. You cannot move it. A mod may do that later anyway.
