Kyshakk Koan RaustBlackDragon
Just curious, because I'm currently at level 17 and my XP gain has slowed to a crawl against most enemies I fight.
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
Finished about 40, but I wanted to see how high I could go.

Garrulous Glaahk The Reincarnated Baron von Steuben
I think I cheated by I'm around level 35 and I still have to meet Trajkov. I kinda went to harder areas (Shaper Crypt) and blew them away by the power of JEFF'S CHEATS! Sorry that this question was not answered earlier. Ineffable Wingbolt Mosquito---Slayer
Sort of related question:- Is there a cap for player and creation levels?, I was trying to fool around with script and found that it was perfectly possible to get level 500 cryoas. Ineffable Wingbolt Mosquito---Slayer
22? but Randomizer said in the second post of the page that he finished at level 40, do you mean the creation level cap?
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
Level 40 was a guardian with no creations. I'm a bit antisocial.
Ineffable Wingbolt Mosquito---Slayer
OK, but what I was actually asking was like the level cap of G5 where you can't go above 61 in the game, is there such a limit in G1?
Easygoing Eyebeast Trenton.
What are you talking about? 42 is the level cap in all Geneforges. We just implant images into your mind with levels above that to make you THINK you're a god.
Easygoing Eyebeast Triumph
I would assume there probably is a level cap in G1 (certainly there's a point where there are no other legitimate ways to earn XP), but apparently no one has any definite idea whether there's a hard cap at some level. Magnificent Ornk nikki.
I usually finish in the late twenties to early thirties. If Randomizer made it to level 40, you can expect to finish around there. I'm fairly thorough myself though, so unless you plan on returning to areas to kill every last thing (and you've really no reason to), you should end up in that ballpark. Easygoing Eyebeast Trenton.
Really, killing everything won't help. Don't you stop getting experience for lower creations?

Humm, it seems pretty stingy in terms of levels, considering that i I always play a shaper with lots of creations I mightn't get to even 25. Magnificent Ornk nikki.
I play a Shaper too, and tend to keep a fairly good sized group with me. The low number might seem a bit stingy, but you'll be more than powerful enough to take on anything in the end-game, so it's all a bit relative really. And, if you want uber-godlike powers, well, there's a way to get those without unnecessary grinding.

Easygoing Eyebeast The Mystic
Don't you stop getting experience for lower creations?Correct. The higher your level, the less experience you get for each kill--and each quest completion, for that matter--until it ultimately reaches zero (there may be some exceptions, but I doubt it). This is true for all games in the series.

In G5 you actually started getting more exp. for the same creation once you went past level 9.

No need, I have checked like 4 times or so, in fact I checked this for G4 as well and it actually exists in G4 as well but I don't remember the level and the effect is much less noticeable too, In G5 you jump straight to about 3 times the exp. for say killing a normal Fyora so it's much more easily checked and noticed. Easygoing Eyebeast Trenton.
Epic. Really, no wonder I get so high on levels in Geneforge 5. It does slow down though after a while doesn't it?
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
You get higher levels in GF5 because Jeff change the level difference cap when you get no experience from 5 to 10. I think the higher experience from identical monsters is Jeff defining their experience in different zones.
Ineffable Wingbolt Mosquito---Slayer
I think the higher experience from identical monsters is Jeff defining their experience in different zones. No, I have tried doing different zones first and found that the zone has got nothing to do with that, another thing I have found is that this does not affect special high level monsters, my own theory is that it's his way of balancing the game. ,and yes Trenton it does slow down after a while.
