While his comment may not have been the most diplomatic, your comment wasn't entirely relevant. Sure, teachers get the summer off. That doesn't really contribute to, whose was it, slarty's (?) comment that most jobs don't get long vacations/summers off.

As for teachers and summer pay, I know that at some colleges where my mom has taught, she had the option of spreading her pay out over 12 instead of I think 10 months. I'm not sure if primary and secondary (public) education offers similar programs. Now I'm intrigued. I think I'll ask someone if my school does that on Tuesday. Don't change that channel!

How many few secondary school teachers do you know? There are no where near enough summer school courses in my district for every teacher to instruct one. Far fewer than half of the teachers are involved in summer school programs.

I am in the eighth grade, and I get off school until June starting in four days. I HATE the summer. I have a condition (an actual physical one) that gives me splitting migraines if I am exposed to bright sunlight for more than an hour. I am so white as to be almost albino (not meant to be offensive), but I get sunburnt if I think about the sun for too long. I can get sunburnt while sleeping in an underground bunker in the middle of the winter after the sun explodes. (Yes, I know sunburns would be the least of my problems) Still, my family expects me to go outside and "socialise" (play with my dog) for a few hours a day. As far as school goes, I'm rather neutral on the matter. There isn't anything really productive for me to do at my house, but the stupid South Carolinian school system has me learning things that I've already known for years. I can't wait until I can work part time at our local theme park next summer. Then I can get paid for my suffering.

Yeah, a point that didn't need making, or had no real relevance to what was being said. Of course, since even the moderating team do this, maybe everybody should lay off Loyal S of SU

Edit: Or, to be fair, certain members of the moderating team.

One, Silent skies and Dantius, you are such jerks, the bullying life I'm always tormented to is followed on here too? Thats just low.

Two, WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? It is relevant because the person said that not many people get summer jobs off, and who gets the summer off? Teachers! So it is relevant in every way!

Slarty said that the majority of the workforce don't get summertime off work. Whilst what you said is true (that teachers do get time off at summer), teachers are not the majority of the workforce.

So, yes, what you are saying is true. It even makes sense. BUT: it is not a suitable counterargument to Slarty's original statement.

Lets use another example. Let's pretend that somebody says "the majority of people eat turkey over the holidays", and then you say "well, my family always has chicken". Whilst your point does convery some information, it doesn't disprove the original argument (that most people eat turkey), so it isn't entirely necessary to bring it up (and it certainly isn't necessary to keep repeating it).

Does that make sense?

Yes, this has been covered multiple times, but I agree with Nikki that we should avoid harassing Loyal Servile of Sasuke Uchiha about it. I know my posts on here from when I was twelve aren't too different, and I also know that this was the best forum I could have grown up on, because not only were there clear behavioural standards, people were patient while I adjusted to them.

Of course, it's also up to Loyal Servile of Sasuke Uchiha to listen and consider what people are saying(this teacher thing has drawn out for far too long, but I haven't seen anything to suggest it was due to maliciousness), and hopefully that combined with refraining from useless, mean comments such as "we don't like him" will make this a nicer environment for everyone.

I mean, come on, you put up with me when I was babbling on about stabbing people with mechanical pencils.

Just to clarify, the original statement was from SoT, not me.

Nikki and Nicothodes are right. Loyal Servile does not deserve to be harassed. Dantius and Nalyd, I'm not going to sort out who was actually trying to be mean and who wasn't; you both know now that he doesn't take things as jokes, so please don't make any more of those comments.

Loyal Servile, on the flip side, if you want people to be nice to you, you need to be nice to them. If you feel like someone doesn't understand you, "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU ALL TALKING ABOUT?" is not going to help.

Haha, I noticed that immediately after I posted and stuck it in an edit. tongue

My last week as a junior in high school is about to commence. I'm looking at a pretty easy finals schedule class due to the fact that I already took the AP tests and several finals due to the seniors graduating early, and having to take their finals with the rest of the class.

As for the summer, I'm looking into a pretty busy time, with the SAT/ACT, scholarship applications, community service, preparing for the debate season, etc. Not to mention penciling in time with my friends in there, somewhere! But, in all reality, this will probably be my busiest and least carefree summer yet. I'm positive about that, though, because at least I'm doing somethings that are constructive and helpful to myself!

School seems to be out early for me. Today, we got out 3 hours early for the heat (90°F by 11am at any point in the whole county), and they've already called another 3 hours early for tomorrow.

Summer? Aside from a few days to attend my cousin's wedding, I'll be spending the whole thing working and taking Health in summer school so that I can graduate.

I'll be catching tadpoles, and other slimy things over the summer for my grad-school project. But just when summer will start is unknown. At my main study site the frogs and toads haven't even started to call yet. I'd say the timing of most things is roughly two weeks behind the average.

The implication is that the next "AMD" will be AMD5 in the fall. Given that integers are awesome, there will likely be no intermittent AMD4.5 over the summer. Therefore, the author of "AMD" will not be working on "AMD", and thus is probably on a summer holiday.

Then you should probably set them free, or donate them to a zoo or nature reserve or something, since by selling them you're ensuring they're still being owned.
