Kyshakk Koan inni
happy april fools every body, so is anyone going to do anything on april first, or do they know some good pranks? here is one i really liked: (#2)
Magnificent Ornk Ephesos
...it's not April 1st. Also, providing advance warning of pranks is generally a bad plan.

Kyshakk Koan inni
ahh but you don't live in the same house as me. and every day is April 1st
Easygoing Eyebeast The Mystic
Well, all I know is you don't have to get up early to pull pranks on me; you have to stay up all night, and drink at least a gallon of really strong coffee. And even then, don't expect me to fall for it; I only take dives.
Magnificent Ornk Student of Trinity
Did you guys really not see all the announcements? April Fool's Day has officially been cancelled this year.
Kyshakk Koan cfgauss
I've always wished reputable science journals would release April fool's editions... Although one or two physicists are known to occasionally write amusing fake papers. But a whole journal full would be more fun.

Magnificent Ornk Student of Trinity
Fraud has been costing the economy an average $500 billion per year over the past decade, and Congress has finally recognized that the perpetrators are not the only cause. With the expected signing into law of the Wade-Evans Bill on Tuesday, aggravated gullibility will become a crime punishable by up to three turns in prison, unless you can roll doubles first. There is the Journal of Irreproducible Results.

Magnificent Ornk Student of Trinity
Man, I wish I'd seen that. I have a collected 'best of' from the late 80's, but that wasn't in it.

Magnificent Ornk Ephesos
...you do realize that most browsers display where a link goes if you hover over it, right? So nobody will actually believe you're not sending them to youtube, right?

Magnificent Ornk Dikiyoba
Dikiyoba always checks links before Dikiyoba clicks on them. There are enough sites that Dikiyoba either doesn't want to end up on or that don't look interesting enough to check out that it saves time. Magnificent Ornk Ephesos
I do check links... particularly after that one nasty spam attack here. And when I see a youtube link in a thread about pranks... I'm just flat-out disappointed.
Easygoing Eyebeast Dintiradan
Redirects: the great equalizers.
Magnificent Ornk Ephesos
See, and now I'm wary, so it's not like it even counts anymore. Nice try. (I seem to remember mechanics like that in the Civilization games when you conducted espionage and such.)

Kyshakk Koan Monroe
Does it still count if the site loaded way before the video and I closed out before the actual video started?
Magnificent Ornk Ephesos
IMHO, it generally doesn't count if you're expecting it when it loads. And you know when you've been caught.
Easygoing Eyebeast Dintiradan
Aside from redirects, checking links is a good strategy, and following it will never cause you to stumble across something you don't want to see. (Don't worry, the above link doesn't redirect to a video of Rick Astley. You can trust me.)

Rotghroth Rhapsody waterplant
Too true. Trust isn't a promise - there is always room to be let down or we wouldn't need trust in the first place.
Easygoing Eyebeast Dintiradan
(Okay, obviously my above posts are just ways to show that you can Rick Roll somebody even the link is to a legitimate looking web page. Don't think of them as pranks, but as episodes of "The More You Know" teaching you about HTML redirects and Javascript events.)
