  1. Okay, so this is the build I plan on playing with: Warrior/Priest (Pole Weapons) Warrior/Priest (Pole Weapons Archer/Priest Mage The 2 warriors are, well...just warriors (and priests). I'd like some advice on how I should balance Intelligence, Strength, Endurance, Preist Spells, and combat skills, making them effective at both Combat AND Priestly spells. The Archer, will be a mix of Priest and thief ability (traps and such). How much tool use should he have though? What's adequate? I don't need any help with the Mage, I'm confident enough I can set a full blown mage up well. Oh, and how far into the game will it be, until I can get Divine Fire. That's kind of my plan, towards the mid-game to end, I'd like all my priests to make effective use of this skill. Any advice on this build would be nice. ~RainbowDashRadical

  3. I am confused on something. In the manual it says that you get 5 skills points for every level up. Yet I am getting 8 skill points for every level up. What's going on here? ~RainbowDashRadical
  4. Yes, I understand that. But I was reffering to the 10-cap rule. You know, where once you start investing points past 10. Once past 10, it actually takes 2 points to have an actual level, and past 20 its 3. So, if this rule applies to Parry, then investing at level 12, you'd actually have Parry level 11. So, if someone did upgrade to level 18, their actual Parry level would be 14, not 18. So you are not capped out at 50% yet. I just wanted to know if the 10-cap rule applies to parry in G2
  5. Okay, so this might, ve been discussed before. But I need Something confirmed. The rule with Parry is that it's useless past 18. However I am curious if the 10-cap rule applies to this skill. If so, wouldn't that mean you'd need to upgrade past 18 points to get the full effect. The first 10 points for 10 levels of Parry. Then 10 more points will raise parry to level 15. And lastly 9 points to get the last 3 levels making level 18. So you would need to invest 29 points to get Parry's full effect! Could some please confirm, as I am unsure on this matter.

  7. G1 milk all of the factions and manipulate the serviles G2 - Join one of the factions that augumemt you. Being Pro-shaper only gives you fast skills, but get more if you join the other factions. G3 - pro rebel G4 - Double agent. Milking the best out of both sides makes you more powerful. G5 - can't answer this as I haven't Finished it.
  8. The story and narrative plot compensates for the dated graphics and old engines. Its what maKes all his games unique. Nethergate is one in a kind and is definitely most different than the other games. For gameplay, I like that you can either go combat heavy (Romans), or magic heavy (Celts) in a party of four. It certainly Gives you a different game experience. Too bad it never received the amount of attention as his other games.

  10. Like GoldenKing, I long while back, I had been browsing Real Arcade Games catalog. and I came across Geneforge 1. I've actually seen his games on HP games, Gamehouse, and even BigFish. Now they aren't there anymore. I'm not sure why.
  11. Even with maxed power it still would probably take over 8 hours of gameplay. Note that 8 is a ROUGH estimate and in no way accurate. My point: Yes, maximum power shortens gametime significantly, but I don't believe significant enough to finish it in just a few short hours. You would still be playing overnight if you were attempting to play the game strait with no breaks. But that's what is cool about Jeff's games. They are HUGE! That's the one thing that will bring my attention to a game. A game with good variety, lots of stuff to do and long hours is a positive. A big positive. His games are big. What's better, they are replayable. One of his games could entertain you for months before getting tired of it. And even then, its always fun to return to them when things get tense in life. Truly, his games are a great way to get away from the world for just a while. Besides music Jeff's games are my favorite coping skill. :-). ~RainbowDashRadical
  12. No, what I meant by editor was a Avernum-like editor where you could max out all skills and spells and just plain out make you demigod. I am assuming it doesn't have an editor like that. Knowing the community here however, there will likely be a player made one but probably not soon. They can be fun in the beginning just to experiment. But it becomes stale pretty quickly. Using late-game spells to kill lvl 1 monsters on the tutorial map just doesn't appeal to me very well I like to play it the way its meant to be played, which is fun. But hey, if yiur way of fun is being higher level early go ahead and do that way. The point of playing a game is to have fun. :-).
  13. I play his games on casual the first time around. Then the next game choose a completely different build and play on hard or torment depending on how I did the first game. I agree the combat is good in this game. Mind blowing? Maybe, depends on one's personal taste/preference. I have experienced better. Its a brave move devloping turn based RPGs in today's gaming era. Most mainstream games are leaning towards real time hack and slash style. I however still appreciate the old school turn based style of play. As for cheating, I most certainly won't be cheating to eantree's extent. I didn't even know Avadon had an editor. ~RainbowDashRadical

  17. So, you can change genders in this game. Do the genders have any impact on the way the PC will work. Like does it change certain skills, bring new abilities, unique weapons available to a certain gender?you know those kind of things

  20. Glad there's people reading it . This will be based off of the original Geneforge story, however I will be going into to greater detail, and maybe modify some minor parts. I am actually writing the story and playing the series. So I am writing what I am playing. I figure this would be a fun way to entertain myself, and hopefully you guys at the forums too.   21. Okay, so I really couldn't think of a proper title, so if it sounds bad my apologies. But I figure I'll bring in some entertainment to the Geneforge boards by telling a story, a story of the heroes who changed Shaper society. Those heroes who went from nobodies to characters of great power, fame, and wealth. So, with no further ado, we shall begin the tale. A Hero was Born Somewhere in the wilderness of the Fens of Aziraph, there was small upheaval. A man, and his wife were caught stealing precious jewels from the wealthy of the small village of Grocsh, and had been ran out of town by locals. Now they run for their lives as thahds, accidently released from a failed Shaper experiment, chased them through the muddy swamps. Soon, they were cornered and could run no longer. The man, scared and demoralized, gave little of the strength he had, pulled a small dagger from from under his robes, and attempted to strike one of the thahds. To no avail, he failed. The dagger barely laid a scratch on the beast. The man and his wife perished as the thahds smashed in their skulls, ripped them apart, and foraged their limbs for food. It turned out very sadly for the two thieves, killed by their bad karma, but not all was lost during fight. While the man tried to strike the beasts, the women took the chance to hide a small infant in the thorny shrubs. It wasn’t long before an Agent was sent to take care of the rogue thahds, and during her mission (this was after she had destroyed the rogues) she came across the debris of the awful fight and found the child, and felt a degree of pity on him. So she took him with her, and set out to the city, Dillame. The child was brought to shaper council, so they could determine what to do with him. They ran tests, and did historical backgrounds to see where he had come from, but alas, they could find nothing. So he became a ward of the Shapers, and was named Ysthane. Ysthane became a servant of those Shapers who ranked high in their society. He lived a happy childhood, and grew up well. He learned proper manners, behaved, and was fed very well. The Shapers saw how good he did his work, and was very, very pleased. He soon was privileged with more secret dealings with Shapers, those roles where few outsiders would be allowed. He kept and organized secret records for them, because he was trusted. He was actually allowed in a true Shaper laboratory. They eventually saw he had potential, and that he deserved more. They saw him fit to join their ranks. They put him through dangerous and sometimes gruesome tests, to see how fit he actually was. He passed every one of them, with flying colors. They were amazed at how fast he could naturally adapt to certain situations, how fast he could learn, and that he shared a passion like none other. To fully be brought up into Shaper ranks, he needed to go to a Shaper academy on a far out island. So after traditional ceremony, and being put in the common garments of the Shapers, he set sail on a living drayk to the islands where he would learn. After one week of traveling, he came across a chain a islands, and checked his map. They weren’t the islands he was to arrive on, but he did notice that one island was marked as barred on his map. It was Sucia Island. Ysthane stood at the edge curious as to what secrets lied there. However, he failed to noticed the sailing ship dead ahead of him, on southeast coast. The Drayk screeched in alarm, warning Ysthane of the danger. It was a strange ship, of a style he had never seen before. It is in poor condition and the sails were torn and windbattered. It looks like it has just completed a long and difficult journey. Its shape is strange, and Ysthane was unfamiliar with the design. So he had not recognized the weapon that sit on its prow. A long spear was fired, and the sharp bolt pierced the drayk’s neck. Roaring in anger it breathed fire upon the ship’s sails, damaging it further. The drayk, badly wounded founders, and drops Ysthane into the depths. He attempted to swim to shore, but his strength wasn’t enough. He started to sink, but with one last effort, his drayk manages to lift Ysthane with its head and carried him to a crumbling old dock. Then it dies. Ysthane struggles to his feet, and looks out to the ocean. The ship which attacked him was aflame, and slowly sinking. He was left alone, abandoned on the shore. Yet, he continued to watch the flames dancing on water dreaming of miracle. It never came.
  22. My party consists of a Tank, Fighter, Priest, and Mage. I've been putting points into Intelligence for priest and mage which is reasonable, since I think the others are useless to them. Though I am wondering if I am overdoing Endurance for my Tank. He's level 10 and has 15 endurance (this is without boosts from traits). Is this too much, or should I put maybe a little into strength. He has 7 strength right now. ~RainbowDashRadical
  23. Which door leads underground to this quest. The 2 in the city are leading nowhere. Just a pylon and a barrier. Where are the rats? ~RainbowDashRadical
