  1. Their survivability may be low, but if you use the landscape wisely, your creations should be able to keep you from getting hit. As for an empty pack, I always just keep the junk with me until it reaches the max of 20 items. Shapers almost always have 2AP, and my creations are strong enough to handle their own. I won't do this if its a harder area, however, such as let's say, Spirit City. Its important you can cast blessing spells in those areas.
  2. Sounds fun! I hope that day comes soon .
  3. The last book I read was Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. My English teacher mentioned Grapes of Wrath was another one of his fine books. I think I will try that next ~RainbowDashRadical
  4. I've always wondered if its possible to sneak into the rogue wastes early in the game and grab a powerful canister. Though which one is usuable? And how to accomplish such a daunting task?
  5. Believe it or not. Aligning with takers and helping trajkov get control of the Geneforge gets you one of the better endings. And I love your voice acting. You make these characters sound so funny Lol
  6. If I recall shapers are practically the strongest in geneforge 1. And they can create way more than just a few. And shaping is much, much more powerful in geneforge 1 than ANY other geneforge in the series. Mainly because its system is unique than the others. When you raise your shaping skill monsters level up but their attributes are the same # as their level + what you added. yourself. For example, you create a thahd at level 8. It'll have all its attributes at 8 + whatever you added upon creation. In the other geneforges the attributes are half of their level. So you are very much rewarded for focusing in one shaping circle and are practically beast with a shaper. With 5-7 creations you ultimately do more damage in 1 round than any other class. AND its magic is decent. Guardians tend to get tougher late game because the monsters are tougher and you don't have much magic to back you up. The first time I played it was Guardian But I didn't strategize my points right and ended up dying lots when approached the lands beyond Kazg. ~RainbowDashRadical
  7. You aren't in that much trouble if you play Agent. I'll go ahead and tell you how I start out with my Agent build on Geneforge 1 (assuming this is the one you are playing) The first thing I always do is make my primary target Spellcraft. I always raise Spellcraft first, and nothing else. You see the skill point system is very unique compared to the others. I won't go into much detail on it...but the important thing to remember is the 10-cap rule. All skills on the skill-tree of diminished in effect after you reach 10. First my 1/2, an then after level 20 (which I doubt you'll even reach) 1/3. So rule of thumb, never raise a skill past 10. SO, get your spellcraft to 10 before upgrading anything else. You should be around level 8 by the time its level 10. Once that is done, I usually start focusing my points in mechanics and leadership. Get leadership to 6, and mechanics to 8. Well you don't have to do it in one go, just try to get it there before you reach Kazg. While you are upgrading mechanics and leadership, also level up your intelligence. You will want a good essence pool, else you'll be traveling back to town a lot to recharge (its not fun trust me ). I believe 5 is a good # in the beginning. You'll want higher at the late-game stages. (even middle game actually). But yes, in the beginning, you focus on 4 skills. Spellcraft, Mechanics, Leadership, and Intelligence. Spellcraft is the most important. Its your bread and butter of the game. Its actually cool, because you'll start doing 70 damage with firebolt, more with searer I think. You won't need to put in points into Healing craft, since Spellcraft affects it too. You should be able to heal yourself for 40 no problem. And you'll save TONS of living tools. With such high spell strength on all spells, you'll be beast in almost everything . Also, if you can manage (once all those 4 primary skills look good), try to put a few skills in Melee skills. Its useful if you ever get swarmed and are forced to pick off a few close-ranged monsters. In my opinion the Agent is a pretty fun class to play in Geneforge. Its just a bit harder the first game because you don't have very many spells as you do the later game (only 12 i believe, the others have like 30). But its fun nonetheless. You just have to be a little more strategic with your gameplay. I wish you good luck in your first playthrough . ~RainbowDashRadical
  8. Okay, assuming you want simple clear-cut answers, this is what I got. Yes, I recommend playing the demo first before you buy Geneforge 1. I would recommend starting with Geneforge 1, but if you decide you don't like it, go ahead and skip to Geneforge 4, or even 5 i you'd like. Experience with the other games aren't needed to enjoy them, and they both reflect back on the older games as well, so you won't miss out on too much. In my opinion, all the games are good . Tip? Well what kind of tips are you looking for? If you have never played a spiderweb software game before, I highly suggest starting on the easiest difficulty. The games can be a challenge for a first-timer. Also, with any spiderweb game, there are certain choices you can make in the game. Those choices affect the game. So, before making any major choices, be sure to explore and cover all viable options you have. Gameplay tips: I recommend having either a Shaper or Guardian for Geneforge. Agent can be tricky. Guardians rule on lower difficulty. And also, follow the strait-forward rules of any RPG, invest in skill points that match your characters strengths. If your Guardian can't handle magic, then don't put points in to magic. I'm sure once you play the game, things will explain themselves. To sum it up: Play the demo first, and if you like it, buy it! Start the game on the easiest difficulty, and play either a Shaper or Guardian. (Shaper is magic/sorcery based, Guardian is strait up warrior with the ability to create monsters). If you don't like teh first Geneforge, then don't give up. Try the 4 or 5th! Or even the 2nd!. Don't try the 3rd, its not a good way to start the series. Let's just say Geneforge 3 could've been better . About Nethergate, well I have no tips for you there. Never played it...and with the newer games from Spidweb, I don't think I ever will. Sorry about that . But regardless of what anyone has to say, the most important thing to remember is: HAVE FUN!! If you don't have fun, then your gameplay experience was for naught. ~RainbowDashRadical
  9. Nice job taking out the battle betas. I also try to take out the ghosts since they give good late game experience. If you had a few extra creations with you (like Vlish) its not as hard. But I could see how being swarmed by them can hurt.
  10. Awesome. I think I have decided upon my character build as well. I believe I'll change my class to guardian instead of an Agent. This time around, I'd love to be the leader of a Squad. I have not decided on what shaping circle, but its a go with either Magic Shaping or Battle Shaping. I will not put any points into Magic skills...nope, none. I will try to make this a playthrough where no magic is involved. I may use spores and pods though, since in theory they don't actually count as magic. And I will be missile based. But in any case, I won't start playing until you start uploading vids for G2. I plan to follow along with you, and won't progress my game any further than what vids you have posted. I'll make some occasional updates on my progress, and we can have fun talking about our tactics. I am very eager for your playrthrough on G2. Out of all the Geneforge series, G2 is ultimately my favorite . ~RainbowDash
  11. By the way, Chessrook. If you are going to use a Guardian in your G2 playthrough, are you going to use heavy Perry? Having Perry in that game makes you boss, and makes it super, super easy (even on torment). I'd still watch the playthrough, but I'd like it better if you try a different tactic then going Perry heavy, and seeing monsters bounce off you like tennis balls. I've played this way before, and it became boring after a while . Oh, and here is a link. It explains how Perry is so darn overpowered. http://spiderwebforums.ipbhost.com/index.php?/topic/5664-parry/ ~RainbowDashRadical
  12. Ha! Bow down to the mighty Ornk Lord!. . Okay perhaps that's a little too much exaggerating. But yes, this is probably my favorite area of the game Lol. Good playthrough Chessrook.
  13. Waa....no Girdle of Leadership! You skipped past the Girdle of Leadership!! One of those rooms has the Girdle of Leadership, dude. It could prove helpful in certain situations. Anyway, great episodes . ~RainbowDash
  14. To unlock the BIG SECRET, it involves those pylons you've been seeing around the rogue wastes, and the western part of the island. I'd tell ya how to unlock it, but I don't know how to apply spoiler tags? So yeah, HOW DO YOU MAKE SPOILER TAGS!!! Never mind I figured it out Lol... Okay here is how to unlock THE BIG SECRET!! By the way, I loved how you totall destroyed those Sholai in Diarazad. I usually don't do that until end game. Lol. You are pro! Also, the Shaper Crypt is you could say a "bonus level" Its something you won't beat until end game (I suppose you could, you gotta be like level 20 or greater). Its also cool, because you gain insane amounts of experience no matter what level you are .
  15. Isn't that where Hew is and the exploding Ornks?
  16. In order to get to Goetssh you must go through spirit city. In fact, I believe its the only way to get to him...Its not that hard. The ghosts in spirit city are neutral. (if you raid their houses, then things might get ugly between you and them) The hard part is getting through the battle beta, and vlish that are blocking the entrance into Goetchess palace (I know I'm spelling his name wrong ) Also, spirit city is where THE BIG SECRET is at. ~RainbowDash If you want to know what THE BIG SECRET is, send me a mail, and I'll tell you how to unlock it.
  17. Sorry for the double post...but I want to add something. Hey Chessrook, perhaps while you are posting episodes for G2, I'll do my own playthrough at the same time, and let ya know how things are going for me in it. We can play two different strategies. In fact, different classes . I'll do mine as an Agent, since Agent still has decent melee capabilities. I'm not gonna post any vids or images, I'll just make a post or two in between on my own progress, if that is alright with you? I feel it would be more fun to follow each other. Double fun! And fun is awesome ~RainbowDash
  18. You should do a Guardian that has missle ability, and makes a few battle creations for extra body guards They can get into the heat of battle, and you destroy your enemies with wands, cyrstals, and the awesome reaper baton!!
  19. You're like the only person on Youtube who has a Guardian build. For that, I commend you. Guardians rule!
  20. After playing a bit of geneforge 1 I've decided to skip all the way to geneforge 5, because I've been hearing its the best out of the series. So, before playing I did a bit of research on how to build up my warrior on these forums (Strategy Central Wooo! ). The I played the game on easy until I reached mera-tev and Astoria's castle. I'm gonna replay it this time. And i got a small hunch. At least skill tree wise. In the very beginning I will do nothing but raise my mechanics to 10 points (28 pts) and leadership to 8 (14 pts). That would cost me around 6 lvls in total (we include the 15 pts you get at the start of the game). By now, I should be at Rawal's Spire talking to people and grabbing the first few side quests. So, the next 4 lvls will be spent in getting my strength to lvl 8, and put a point or 2 in melee whenever I have a stray point. After that, I'll try to maximize melee to 10 or 11, and then maximize Quick Action. I calculated it all, and the all the costs combined together would add up to 18 lvls in total. Now I'm not really sure what point in the game I'll be at when I'm that level, but I assume somewhere in Mera-tev. I would already have the mechanics and leadership for the area, and by then there should be some items that can help me out other skills. Anyway, that's my plan. Give me your feedback on this please. And for a few questions. 1.) About what point in the game should I start seriously investing in Endurance? 2.) What's items should I start looking for in the beginning to craft a good "starter" set (gloves, baubles, leggings, weapons) for my warrior? 3.) What's the best weapon in the WhiteSpires/Mera-tev area? I want some that deals damage in the hundreds. 4.) Whose the cheapest trainer (and most accessible) in there Whitespires/Mera-tev area? 5.) When do I get an item that raises some of my magic skills? 6.) I want to be a meat-shield guardian who's brawn can pull hair of people's chest...do I still need creations? If so, what shaping circle should I focus on? Should I combine 2 shaping circles? Okay, I'm done for the questions for right now. I will probably have more later though...I'm just starting this game. Just because i played to Astoria, doesn't mean I looked around . I only really did some quests, and smashed my way through easy obsticles. I didn't really take time to explore entire areas/maps. So I know very little... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. ~RainbowDash ("Aww, yeah!")
  21. I was referring to Geneforge 1, not 3. But since both say of you vote Vlish, guess I'll do Vlish. Though I am wondering, how about a mixture of the two? With both acid and stun effects, and my guardian tank skills, I could be pretty powerful, huh?
  22. What creation is better for a guardian to have follow him? Searing Artilas or Vlish?
  23. Are there any loopholes where you can gain money doing something devious. (i.e. tricking a dumb NPC).
