  1. It just happened to me. I got those pyrric gauntlets and well, wanted to keep them for time when I will have 90% protection for acid. So i left them around the entrance to Formello. One time I entered it... and puff! Nothing. What's kinda strange, cause loot from dungeons never disappears. Posted it just to warn you.
  2. Do not want to be picky but: In most cases, they still don't notice. Even if you have crown clearance and hero reputation, dialogues of characters after ending the quests doesn't change and they still hope you will get... better clearance. As for thread itself: Avadon is cool, but nothing more. You shouldn't except nothing better than average from it. It's 100% linear, and there are no choices. But still, I advice to play it. As for games in generally: You tried Arcanum?
  3. Yes, you can split it. There is one item for +1 Tool Use and traits if you dont want to waste points on it. (and there will be a hell of traits if youre going with humans) As for Cave Lore. One character from your party will gain 1 point, and there are items giving you +3 in total. (and you should easily learn 8 from trainers so in the end, you probably don't need almost anything here) Oh, sorry. Someone should update Randomizer post, however in my link (and your thread) there are good valuses so i wasn't that bad. :F
  4. If youre thinking about arcane lore/sage lore: http://spiderwebforums.ipbhost.com/index.php?/topic/21167-a2cs-level-3-spell-arcane-lore-location-list/ If youre completionist, you need to have 8 Tool Use in one character to get Icy Rain lvl 3.
  5. When you have Battle Frenzy (from 3 lvl Haste) and all your mages got Adrenaline Rush... 4 spells per round x3 battlemages. I'm just at this moment and it feel so good.
  6. I played like this in A:EFTP but because they nerfed dual wiedling, now i'm playing with 3 mages and self-healing priest-tank. So much dmg. Unless your warrior can do a lot of dmg, 3 mages setup will be better than 2. Imho warrior is average, not only because early he's missing a lot (because he needs to be tanky) but don't have AoE too.
  7. It's annoying sometimes, when you meet with high lvl enemies. Best example? Demons in Blasted Ruins. If you wanna kill them during your first visit on Torment, it will be very long fight. That green demon can't kill your tank, but your every char will have 20% chances to hit him because he's pretty outleveled at this point.
  8. From other thread: Damage outpost spells Damage outpost weapons But it was about A:EFTP.
  9. You probably don't have that some sort of freedom (like stealing) because your're Avernite soldier, not random adventurer like in A:EFTP.
  10. OP is damn right. My entire problem of torment rus was deciding if I want 3 mages and 1 priests, or 2 mages and 2 priests. First setting - possibility to end faster every battle with like 3 AoE per turn early, 6 in mid, 9 in-late game, while latter allowed for more survi. I remember when i played first game in A:EFTP with warrior/archer in my party and then I stumbled upon AoE spell. Instantly started again with 2 mages instead of archer, went for that AoE and then I was just pwning everything on my way. And i was like, woah, it's seriously how it's supposed to works? But seems like yes. In most cases in Avernum combat, it isn't about actual tactics... but tons of dmg. So for example. You encountered new boss? Don't care about his weakness, some tactics or any sort of preparations, just do a mass dmg for him. Worked for entire A:EFTP. There are a lot of guys praising Daze spell for torment run in early game. And you know what's funny? During my A:EFTP torment run I never really needed to use it. Just Ice Rain, again and again. If i was dying somewhere, just get there a little later, and do same. Probably my best fight in A:EFTP was when I was pretty too low for Slith villages, but still wanted to make them. I needed a little lucky RNG (so I had to load more than few times) but after i managed to kill enemies using my actual resources (potions/scrolls etc) I was really feeling great, that i did something other than just spamming enemies with AoE:
  11. Nvm. I was having some grant idea about using "backtostart" command and then another one for reset for boat, but if Randomizer say it's corrupted, then it's corrupted. My similar problem: http://spiderwebforu...avernum-remake/
  12. And now I'm questioning myself. "All those hardcore fans are playing only using keyboard?" ; )
  13. I'm asking because I don't know what items are in A2. So it's better to take some tier1 pole weapon, and then use battlemage trait for some tier1 armour (if there's more than one) or it's better to use battlemage trait for tier1 sword and shield, while wearing some tier1 robe? In Avernum 1 there was Robe of Magi (tier1), Mercuric Leather (additional PA) or First Expedition Vest (tier1 for pure second line priest). And here's go Crystaline Breasplate (tier1) with Blessed being something like beetwen tier1 and tier2. So it was more useful to use robes (with 1 exception for Crystaline) and go with no minus to hit armours... but... Concerning addional PA: In A2 I cant craft some low vest for additional PA in Formello, but it will be only usefull mid-game before AR for having 2 attacks if combined with some other PA giving item, because with Adrenaline Rush i have always 3 attack, no matter if i have AP armour or not. (they comes in handy if combined with haste, but it's still pretty random to get ability to cast 4 or even 5 spells in one shot). Going for min-max I shouldn't care for random and should get away with additional PA item if I have something better on hand. But now take into account that my first character will get best armour, best weapon and best shield, so everything besides it is left for 3 mages. Ideas? Thanks!
  14. From my exprience, it is worth because you need pick extra health or extra endurance and first one wins. In late game when you party can clear everything it doesnt matter that much, but in mid-game it can really help. My tank from A:eftp looked like this and I dont know what I could pick instead of extra health.
  15. By the way Slartibus, what would be most optimal party? Like priest-tank and then 3 offensive mages? Right now I have warrior-mainly tank, 2 mages for dmg and 100% priest, but it's early in-game so i can still use cheat to change everything. (I already went full reset from my hard walkthrough, so I dont want want to repeat everything third time, but EQ is still kinda bad and same for everyone so i can swap everything.) Considering your post, best offensive party for torment would be priest in first line and 3 mages? Edit: I'm slowly starting to love this in my mind. Tank-warrior is still useless against most bosses with low hit rate, and often 100% priest is just wasting his turn on healing tank, so i got instead of 2 AoE per turn, 3! Damn. But i need confirmation from some best man here.
  16. Btw. elemental focus works at all for smite and other priest dmg spells?
  17. No, because: 1) They're close to each other, in following order, set up by me. (so, single-target, first AoE, second AoE, buff, curse etc) 2) I always see their icons in the quickcast. So when I'm in late game changing Ice Rain for Fireblast, and changing Fireblast into Arcane Blow, it's still AoE but stronger, in same place! 3) And I'm doing it in one click. 4) And I dont need to move my fingers all around keyboard, just F5/6/7/8 and more. Combine all those advantages and it will make save you hours of clicking. So i don't think even one sec about it (spells), using it instantly during combat. But I can't use shortcuts from spells using same method. Because well, they're placed alphabetically. So i need to know out of nothing that specific spell let's say Ice Rain is for example 6 in the order, so it has 6 letter of alphabet as a shortcut. Madness! Because, how in the first place I can know which spell is third or six in spellbook? And then i need to know that six in alphabet is F, but i dont know this without counting each time. In quickcasting AoE is always AoE, and instead of thinking about entire system I can just look for icon if I have worse moment. Ofc. everything could be easily solved by giving player ability to set up "hard" shortcuts for spells. So for example, letter "P" always for specific spell without need to use first shortcut for spelbook itself, but for some reason Jef did not gave us this option. hmm. We can make our shortcut for spellbook, but not for specific spells. Edit1: It would be really amazing. Enter town - click for example J and K for ward and cloak, done! Edit2: Or cloaks/wards could easily not de-spawn when appearing in town. Only when we want to take them down/or by specific script because of some event.
  18. Remember that 40 is maximum value for attributes, unless it was changed in A:CS.
  19. You're right, but the problem is following: It's easier to use F5, F6, F7 etc, than shortcut for spellbok (I can choose any letter for it) and then some semi-random letter. (because I can't change it) For example, Bolf of Fire is A and Ice Rain is G, so it makes everything messy and I can't set my shortcuts for such spells. So i would need to learn every spell by heart, instead having them close to each other like i have with quickspells. By the way, shortcut "select spell", which is in default under "shift+c" does anything? I'm using it and no effects. Also, it's easier to click on cloak/ward from mouse than use keyboard combo "spellbook" + shortcut or just quickcasting, cause I'm using mouse anyway for traveling. So after getting out of travel I can instatly click cloak/ward from quickasting using my mouse and move on for other activites. Ofc. I'm using quickcasting spells with keyboard during combat because it isn't one time action.
  20. I'm the only one who thinks, that it's needed? I mean, every time I enter any town, I'm casting one cloak and one ward. Just imagine how much time we are wasting, doing it over and over and over... And what's even worse, I had to put it in quick spelling, to make everything faster. But if I want to use some other situational but pretty useful spell in combat I need to click on spells -> then on specific spell, cause I can't use slot there because cloak/ward have priority... (I have one-target spell, then some AoE spell, then haste, then ward on warmage) So making some autocasting for chosen cloak/ward every time we enter town should be really nice. But it isn't everything. At some point, when we are going for max. characetrs, every one will have adrenaline rush. But this time we can't waste slot on it, otherwise during the combat I will have only 2 spells for quick casting. So EVERYTIME i start the combat i need to click for EVERY character D (for combat disciplines) then H (for adrenaline rush). It would be great, to have ability to make shortcut for specific spell/combat discipline, so instead of going D->H just click H for example. Considering that i will start combat like 5-15 times during specific dungeon, and i have 4 chars with adrenaline rush, i need to make like addition 40-80 clicks per dungeon. And now think about all that additional clicks, which im doing because i don't have enough free slots for spells. It would be even better if I could use invetory slots for spells... because, why not? 4 slots for spells is really not enough for such game. And I doubt it's really some hard coding there. Especially that while i'm using spell slots over and over and over, inv slots in most cases are useless. For same reason Jeff added loot bag, so why not this stuff? p.s. There is some shortcut for "use object". Maybe allow to make it always active? Right now, to max. and not loss anything player should click U per every room, instead having to click it once for entire dungeon.
