Wouldn't want to be deficient! Of course, you also don't want to be excessive, either. They can always just shove people off the boat, the plank is just an entertainment accessory (a.k.a. a prop) so the crew can enjoy the torment of the death walk (we are talking about pirates) You all forgot the expensive sport of keel-hauling.

Quite a selection he has there. Tom's identity is a question for the experts, who have no decisive desicion. My personal favorite theory is that Tom Bombadil (of course he has other names) is Arda incarnate. While Olorin was a Maia of Aule, he spent most of his time in the Gardens of Lorien, where he "learned pity and wisdom".

He did keep close counsel with Galadriel, but I always remember Gandalf having been described as an eternally restless traveller. Lorien as in the Lorien that Lothlorien was named after. I don't have a book with me, but here is a list of where I remember reading these things. The Dwarves are mortal. Read the chapter in the Silmarillion on the creation of the Dwarves The Hobbits are mortal. The oldest Hobbit know to record before Bilbo lived to 130. The Ents I believe to be immortal simply because Treebeard says that he remembers the advent of many old things, somewhere in the Two Towers.
  8. This reminds me of a complaint I was about to make. You know Pavlov? Well, I never thought the association patterns would apply to humans. First off, there's this: Click to reveal.. I cannot now listen to the Curse of the Black Pearl soundtrack without a mental image of myself exploring Dhonal's isle for the fifteenth time (that was the time I was an agent) Also: Click to reveal.. The same goes for G4 and the Return of the King soundtrack And even worse: Click to reveal.. I cannot hear the Star Wars (episode IV) music without remembering G5 It's quite a bother.

Each and every Maia (I think) is associated with a particular one of the Valar. Gandalf, Sauron, and Saruman apparently all served Aule, at least originally. The Balrogs were Maiar in the service of Melkor (aka Morgoth). The Dwarves are mortal. The Hobbits are mortal. The Ents are immeasurably long-lived, and probably immortal. The chief of the Balrogs was Gothmog. The Istari were as follows: Saruman, Radagast, Gandalf. There were two unnamed Wizards as well. Olorin (later Gandalf) spent most of his time in Lorien.

Unfortunately, both of them only appear in their respective zones occasionally, so it can be frustrating to have to enter and re-enter the zones until one finally shows up. The good news is one of the doors in the Shaper Crypt already has a crescent-shaped rock in it, so you only need to get one rock instead of two. Dikiyoba. That explains why I never got in.

Yes, Durin's Bane drove the dwarves (the plural of dwarf is actually dwarrows) from Khazad Dum, which earned the name of Moria (Black pit). Any more issues?

Spawners are too dumb and servant minds depend too much on their creators for basic needs. Dikiyoba. That is an excellent point. None of the Shaping creations were truly intelligent and independent. Drakons can be discounted because the Self-Shaping drove them nuts and they are no longer intelligent.
