  1. Have you seen the movie Event Horizon? Its scary and the music played on the ending is just awesome. It goes under Event Horizon Ending Theme on youtube and is currently one of my favs.
  2. I always thought that acting outside the norms of common good/altruistic behavior would be considered evil. Someone killing another person without a reason or to kill a mass amount of people for no reason. Those are strong indicators that the person is not playing with a full deck and is evil. Anything that is pointless murder or stuff like that. Rapists and child sexual abusers should be executed without a trial. The problem is the justice system in America awards the bad guys with life imprisonments/temporary insanity. Its a disgrace.
  3. Whether its D and D or not D and D-I still wouldn't find anything wrong with offing an evil person. If I had a chance and could prevent world war 2, I would take Hitler down a notch and hope for the best. I could care less whether its evil, neutral or good-its preventing a future tragedy which is what matters. I don't think you can get away with being nicey nice. Evil people like that have no rules and therefore neither should the person that takes them down. How is killing a defenseless evil person bad?
  4. D and D is always cool especially Baldurs Gate. I really think the alignments even though some weren't completely correct, were best done in that game series. The only thing that is lame is that Montaron wasn't a playable character in BG 2. He was my favorite character until Dorn came around.
  5. The D and D personalities are very much flawed. The reasoning is that chaotic-neutral makes no sense. Jarlaxle is chaotic-neutral yet he makes the right choice to save Drizzt because Drizzt is a good guy. He does this out of altruism so he would be considered chaotic/good. Yet he is made neutral just because he kills a few people. Here's a news flash-killing bad people isn't going to make you indirectly bad. If anything it should be considered a good thing. The problem with this is that as soon as a neutral good character kills an unarmed/noncombative evil guy without giving him a chance he is considered evil/neutral which is wrong. If the guy was evil it is a good thing. Im not talking laws, they only get in the way. Laws are a way of making people stay in line and evil not so bad. If the world was to turn to anarchy tomorrow, everyone that was good would be neutral eventually as they would have to kill a bit. They would have to steal, etc. Laws make people more civilized and in my eyes are a good thing. If all the laws went away, we'd have a major problem. People that cant get their food, medicine, etc. would get desperate. If you've seen some of the MILD behavior we had in Hurricane Sandy (NJ) you'd catch the drift right away. People were nuts. Im not saying the people in the world are naturally bad, but you need a strong law system to combat evil even if it doesn't cure all of it. Although it doesn't matter, my personality has always come up Chaotic/Neutral but in many ways is more True/Neutral, Lawful/Neutral. I don't bother people so long as they don't bother me or do something mean, sadistic. I can be terribly mean/sadistic to people that bully others or myself. I dislike any form of bullying and thus that is my one traits.
  6. Thats the thing though. I have never once thought of going back a few saves to get an extra ending. Each ending represents a certain group of characters/creations I make. I never knew people actually do that.
  7. This sounds like a stupid question but I don't know how much of Howlongtobeats website is true. Some people said that Jeff's games got shorter as it became more current. I wouldn't know because I haven't completed all his games. I knew that Avadon 1 was short, Avernum The Pit was pretty massive and Geneforge 1 was about the same size of Avadon 1. Thats just from my experience. Avernum 4-6 are all screwed up as there are differences in opinions. Avernum 4-69 hours-Huge! Avernum 5-38 hours-Avadon short! Avernum 6-44 hours-medium/short Ive heard some people say that Avernum 6 was a long game. And Geneforge series had the longest games. Of course Geneforge got the highest amount of length on that website. Geneforge 1-41 hours-medium/short (my time was about 30 hours) Geneforge 2-59 hours-long Geneforge 3-59 hours-long Geneforge 4-69 hours-really long Geneforge 5-60 hours-long Thats again just an opinion. Theres a big difference between long main quest/huge world and short main quest and massive world. Avadon is probably in that category. Im starting to wonder just what some of these people are playing. I finished half of Geneforge 4 within 12 hours yet they say the game is 69 hours? Thats misleading and confusing. Did the other half of Geneforge 4 just add 40 hours? The question is which are the longest games and which are more like Avadon. Its obvious that howlongtobeat's site is crazy. They rated Avernum 1 as 41 hours when Avernum Escape from the Pit was rated 67 hours. I thought the game got shorter. Jeez..
  8. See which one piques your interest more. If you are playing Avernum 1 and you like it, go with that. If you want to play Avernum 1 but want more enhanced features/graphics, go with Avernum Escape from the Pit. I prefer the remake but that doesn't mean that thats the only way They are all great games regardless of whichever you pick so you really can't lose.
  9. My thoughts on his games are this-As long as they are isometric and look like anything from Avernum 4, Geneforge 1-5 and Avadon/newer games, I can't complain. The more the game looks like some infinity engine games, the more I want to play it. It may not look as nice as them but it still looks awesome to me. I didn't like Temple of Elemental Evil's graphics because they slow down the already buggy game. Fallout 1 and 2 and even Tactics were good graphics in my opinion. I just don't like it when the emphasis is on the looks to the point where the game takes more than 20 seconds to load. As soon as you tell me I got to get a high tech computer to play the game, my interest is gone.
  10. A really cool tactic you can use in G1-3 is creeping up/waiting for enemy to get next to a wall. If the wall is 1 ap point from the enemy, cast haste then and you should be able to get 2 attacks with melee weapon. Its not always easy to do but so far it works in G1-3. It should work in the later games too but I haven't tried it yet. I usually only go with haste if I can afford the intelligence/blessing magic and guardians are usually weak in that area. That tactic works ridiculously well on pylons in Mines of G1. The only problem is that you have to make it so you don't get 2 pylons targeting you. 1 will die and the other will attack after. You still have poison but at that point game its not the worst.
  11. Ive been using this tactic to the 10th degree. What I do is I get the 1st melee attack on an enemy before they hit first. They attack me and I slay most anything that comes after. When low/mid way in health, I run back to a corner and when out of site exit combat mode. I exit and enter until I get a safe distance from remaining enemy. I then in real time cast heal until I am full health. The enemy just lost 2-3 turns and my fighter is now at full health ready to slash again. Good times! Im not sure though if this will work as well in the later games. Im sure it will be fine for G1-3 but 4-5 I don't know as I haven't tried yet. Has anyone used any devious tactics for their solo characters?
  12. Usually swords are about max damage but if you use polearms, halberds are quite lethal with 20% to cleave. They deal crazy minimum damage and the cleave really has a decent chance to hit 1 out of 5. Im only lvl 21 and I am not far behind my previous sword fighter from another playthrough.
  13. Slith, I wasn't the biggest fan on Icewind Dale 2 but I rush to get to the bridge fight just to hear the epic soundtrack they have for that fight. In my own opinion, video gaming can have some of the most epic of music because you are able to interact with the music moreso than with a simple track. Dynasty Warriors 4 gave me a few ideas for my cd me and my brother recorded. The Lu Bu theme song was fundamental of "Bad Day of Work" and its main riff. I like all of Jeff's tracks on his games even if I have to sit there and listen to the song finish before I start loading up the game
  14. The problem that I have besides the nonlinear of the game, is that most of the random encounters are 5 times harder than most of the regular big boss fights. My currently lvl 21 party would set a record for how many times Ive had to load the game due to an encounter gone wrong. Its like punishing those who want to explore. If I remember correctly, getting up to the slith king is tedious, the king himself can be done at an early lvl. Its just those friggin spell casters. Fighting through 2 or even 3 spell casters with melee enemies in between is almost suicide. As soon as one of your party goes, thats it.
  15. Wine gone, Weed misplaced? Somebody has had a successful day's work
  16. I find that Geneforge has good use of melee and is fairly easy to get around minor problems. Im currently in G1 with my solo guardian. The only thing I don't like about Geneforge series is that the party dynamics are very much different from Avadon and Avernum. In Avadon and Avernum you get a party of other human/semihuman characters to adventure with. With Geneforge I just can't get into that party type with monsters that you don't keep till the endgame. Its all about switching monster types until you get a 3rd tier type. My take on party dynamics is you start out with a party and you stay with that party. But that is why you can play Geneforge solo I guess.
  17. My creation would definitely be a claw bug. If I was able to make a creation up and add to game-it would definitely a Alorael. I figured a creation with a naturally high post count could throw a few moves.
  18. May your blade strike true and you endure, May your enemies die and lose for sure.
  19. The problem is I did the slith king fortress at lvl 19 last 2 times. I figured that lvl 17 was ok. I guess I'll have to get to 20.
  20. It does because I just can't seem to think my way out of the game. I can't close the distance and take the spell casters out with 1 to 2 shots. And even when I do, I get screwed with terrify which they have been using relentlessly. Its just way too much. I think I need to restart. I came in here too low a lvl. I might need to get to lvl 22.
  21. I was going in the slith fortress with my party at lvl 17 and I didn't have a lot of tough fighting/sneaking around until the slith mages and slith shamans/enchanters came around. Im telling ya, if theres one thing this game does is it makes me frustratingly annoyed with just how brutal the enemies are. They can cast terrify and put my 2 fighters out of commission for 2 turns (enough turns to destroy my chance of a 10 minute fight) Its honestly got to be the most tediously annoying enemy tactic to terrify as it always works with a 100% success. The enemy health wouldn't be a bad thing as I have strong defenses but going through a priest or shaman is tough with both your fighters running away/sometimes attacking my priest/mage. Its not the fact that the fights last long, its the fact that you can't save in between fights in the fortress. The enemies use the same move all the time. 4 of me vs. 6 of them-Not likely to win. Whats the point in playing when I am a pathetic excuse for a human being. I get the right stats, I specialize in my build, nothing works. I don't get it.
  22. Not that I know a great deal about computers, but there is a mode you can go where you can basically go back to the day before you installed that critical rebuild. I had to do that for one computer that had viruses and it lessened the magnitude. What happens is the computer is the same but things you did such as installations are different. Just save your save files that you want to keep. This is just 1 way of dealing with Windows craziness.
  23. I like NWA, Public Enemy, and Insane Clown Posse for rap music. Those are my rap favs. I could probably listen to almost any music out there regardless of time period or style. The fallout music of 1 and 2 is cool although I don't know if I like it because of the game or because I like the music, hehe.
  24. Jeez, its been 2 years and the best thing that's come from Vampire The Masquerade-Bloodlines- was the band Genitorturers rather than the game itself. I still will play it if I ever get another pc, but can't believe how one of my fav bands can come from a video game. There's more views on the game page of youtube for that song rather than the original band page, lol.
  25. I think it depends on the game. If you really like a game you usually can deal with minor things much better than if you don't like the game. However when the game you are playing has something you find tedious, its usually hard to get far. I find Avernum remake to be just right and still epic with regards to battles. I completed the game the first time with a terrible party. The 2nd time I played just the opposite, an awesome party. You live and learn I guess. I wish I hadn't attempted Hawthorn as my 1st ending the first time I played the game.
